What's this crafting mini games?

I think that is what spurred the notion of a more general purpose mini-game that is part of a regular crafters day-to-day play.
Mmm...well, day-to-day? I thought these wouldn't be seen very often?!?
Isn't that sort of the point to these?
Or did you must mean something else (and I'm insane. Note: "Both" is a viable option.)?

Respectfully,
well. it's relative. those other mini-games are once and only once in a crafters career. by day-to-day I just meant part of regular gameplay.

Mmmm.....no, not wrong, per se. Just could be better on thehealthof the larger economy, that's all. To fit better into the entire scheme of a marketplace in SWG. Factory goods have their place. We all know that. Every MDE knows that. I use factories a lot...I needs 'em too. However, I'm still willing to look at whatever needs be done to see something better come from the interaction of:
- hand-crafting to get to Master (cause you really do need to be there to compete now...it's just gonna be that way for the life of the game, folks).
- using factories for a valid/needed purpose that can both feed the economy with products but not flood any market/product that's THE (stress: absolute) best. If that can happen with crates...the issue of hand-crafting as it affects creation of a functioning 'rares'.
- hand-crafting at a more elite level game (yes, FS crafting will affect us all at some point. To what degree...it's too soon to say).
game
noun
1. An activity providing entertainment or amusement;
I can think of very few folk who describe the actual process of crafting as entertaining or amusing beyond the first fifty items. In the current system you pretty much have to be a stats/numbers geek to really have fun, let alone call it a "game."
That's true to some degree. You don't have to be a HUGE numbers geek to be a good DE and enjoy the game (configuration / harvester/factory mgmt, resource 'game', etc.). The actual process of hand-crafting can and should be made better. Heck, I very much would like to see the way factories are handled get a good 'pass' too. The process is...in some ways..rather cold. They should both be on the the table for any kind of low-level/core design change. That's the whole reason I made the thread...to bring it all to light.
My response here is that handcrafting can be fun if you are excited about making some killer products....but they need to change the choice of having something handcrafted at the beginning of the craft sequence. this would allow the devs to make handcrafted components have better experimentation results aka less crit fails so on....same with choosing to do practice. so here isa proposed change, irregardless of whether they make handcraft better:
- Create an option after schem (But before assembly)selection for schematic, practice or prototype.
From here many things would be improved, grinders would be happy, assuming they make handcraft have less moderate and CF's this would make the system do-able.
As for a need....right now there isnt any advantage to handcrafting for most profs, a few get some advantage from it, ironically DE is probably uses handcraft the most for all those utility combo droids/entertainer so on. ive been a master archy and WS and tool maker and i can say with confidence that WS would only use it if there was loot involved, and most importantly if the bonus's were over a certain amount. As for the architect well some ppl dont sell 20 harvs a day maybe 20 a week so handcrafting for that i could see, id be nice to see something over 13 ber every once in a while.
It's good to see others going to this as a good option, since it says to me that I was on the right track.
It think it holds a lot of promise in some ways....but maybe that needs to be part of the brainstorm thread.
