Thread: Petition to developers: Droid Engineer Exp all droid engineers please respond
I think the exp to gain per level is ok. But I would like to see uxp put in seeing as the dev's said they were going to add it over a month ago.
/agree
Very true Droid_Engineer_Rho. I didn't notice the original posting date, and skipped a few pages in the middle.
I made my way to Novice Droid Engineer shortly after the game came out. Bone armor chestplates and powerups when I couldn't find any bone for sale... and yes, it stunk like rotting meat. ![]()
I'm still of the opinion that the experience requirements to attain Novice Droid Engineer are just fine.
The exp level is just fine in my opinion. Do not lower it at all. I would not even mind seeing it go higher.
I would like to see UXP added to the DE's though. That way the true DE that build droids all the way up to MDE are rewarded for the work they do and the droids that they put out on the market. Of course It will not help the people that just grind thier way up to MDE and that is the way it should be.
Exp is a pain, but the truth is that the class is mostly worthless. For those newbies looking to be a droid engineer please stop now and do something else. No one wants droids not even the devs. Just start doing a more popular class like CH.
No mater what they change the XP to be, even if its 1k, its still not worth your time to become a Droid Engineer.
Regards,
SirWalter
Droid exp is the main problem for me. Here's a few possible solutions, most of which have been said before:
- Fix UXP. This would make it go at least a little faster.
- Re-Impliment UXP from your own modules and other droid pieces. Again, would make it go a little faster.
- Less EXP needed per level. At the moment, it's around 1.2 million total exp for the whole thing, which converts to7.2 million credits worth of materials (at the standard 3 per material, 1.2 mill exp x 2 material per exp standard x 3 cred per material needed = 7.2 million cred). That's rediculous unless you're in a guild that has lots of resources available, or you have lots of your own harvesters. If you have your own harvesters, you have to maintain them with money, which means you have to do lots of missions to keep it up, or again, be in a guild with lots of money to throw around. Or you can do missions to get money to buy your resources. Either way, you're spending lots of your time doing missions to pay for the materials to "grind" a profession that you no longer have time for now that you're always out trying to pay for it.
- More EXP per droid. Again, a little time saver. Even if the droids cost more in materials, at least it's more exp each to make the grinding less necessarry. (Ex - Novice mouse is around 150 exp each. That's 320 of the little buggers for just one level. Novice Tailors have something they can make for 500 exp each. That would be much better).
I'm going on an "either/or" basis here. I'm really only asking for one or two of the above. It took me almost a week to get one of the first level skills, and I was thinking that it really shouldn't be that hard. All other professions, elite or otherwise, are increadibly more easy to obtain than this one. And considering how useless droids are becomming, it really shouldn't take this much effort. All we get are med droids and crafting stations as our major selable items. Probots were, well, taken down a bit so they aren't as wanted by the public anymore. Data storage is now undesireable by CH, so there goes 90% of that market. Item storage is generally too limited in numbers for normal people to want to bother wasting lots of money on a droid for a couple slots more inventory.
I can no longer sell much of what I make due to the above facts. This leaves me with grinding as my only option. I hate puting my items to waste, so this hurts me, as well as those who may have wanted a droid who can't get them from me since I've destroyed them all.
I'm just asking for consideration from the devs. Professions should be fairly equal, not horribly unballanced as they are now.
Ki-Odo, Chilastra - CH, BE, DE, Pistoleer, blah blah blah.
Donjee, Valcyn - Scout, Marksman, wannabe Ranger and Carbineer
I am in total agreement with this post
There are sooo many things that need to be fixed with the Droid Eng profession it almost makes me laugh. That is that kind of laugh you make right before you loose you mind.
I can understand its an elite profession and hell thats why I wanted to do it. I figure it would totally satisfy all my starwars fangirl fantasies while also providing me with a way cool job that very few people had. So 9 bizzilion bone armor pieces and mouse droids later I'm at Blue Prints 2 and coming to the sad conclusion that the devs must hate us.
I can understand the XP requirements to keep the DE numbers low. But what I can't understand is:
Why we can't make power modules or chipsets? I'm an Engineer. Having to go to a MA or an Architect for these items just doesn't fly with me. Its like telling me to go family doctor for brain surgery.
Customization. All that time you spend on the stupid droid and you can't even make it look cool. I mean who wants a plain looking droid? I sure as hell don't
. What is with all the resources? I mean surely a droid manipulator arm can't take all that to build.... I end up selling droids for more than I want to just to keep up with how much it costs me to run my harvesters.
Its just frustrating. I sit back and get jealous of all my CH friends running around with their super animals while the best I can make is a droid with a crafting unit. I know other professions must have problems (I dabble in a few others myself) but why do I feel like we have the most?
When the game started I saw droids everywhere. Now post nerf I see maybe one a week. Its just depressing.... I have to ask myself everyday why did I decided to do this?
I just pray that vehicles are added and that we get to build them. Although somehow I have a bad feeling the devs will decide last minute that they should be made by Combat Medics, or something equally inane.
Please devs, help us make the DE profession what it should be. Give us better/more droids and something to work towards. Droids are the heart and soul of the star wars genre....so lets see more in the game!
I think R2D2 would agree with me.

I actually disagree with this post. I am almost a master droid engineer ( 4-4-3-4 ) on bloodfin and the grind is definately do-able. I do not think the XP requirement should be lowered. INSTEAD, I think droids need MORE, and BETTER uses. That way, in theory, there maybe actually be a use for all the parts/driods we make instead of running practice mode the entire time because they are useless. That would make it so it wouldn't be such a grind, but instead making/selling/using the droids like it was designed.

Brandoon Here,
I agree with Thrawn123. I am at 3-2-2-4 and the grind really is not bad. The trick is getting the resources to complete the grind, not the crafting process itself.
I would like to see more droids (which the devs said we WILL get), but still love creating what was give to us.
