Hi, I'm a brand new Master DE, and I think I'm feeling the pain of grinding a proffession. My head is just swimming with all the different resources I have to have and it's giving me a serious headache.
I made my first ADV R2 Unit last night, as a test run and although it ended up very nice. It took me about 4 hours to get all the resources. I thought I had stockpiled enough but there is always some oddball resource needed.
I really have to applaud all of you who have been doing this and making great Droids.
How do you keep track of everything? All the different resources are just crazy. So many things to watch for, OQ, PE, etc....
Any tips anyone can share? I'm at a complete loss as how to get organized.
Thanks for any advice.
Thanks

Hehe, don't try armorsmith then.

Or Weaponsmith for that matter... lots and lots of projectile barrel grinding for low xp. DE was a good grind.

I really would like to thank everyone for the helpful replies.

I've had a lot of luck getting organized with all the helpful comments and techniques.

Things are getting worse for me though since I just picked up Weaponsmith as well.

Should be amusing to keep everything seperated.

BTW I made my first official droid the other night. Someone ordered an Entertainer droid (Seems like a lot of people want those) and it ended up great (for my first anyhow), packed with the effects module and about 4k-ish ham. lol It was and ADV R2 unit.

But I do have a question, not sure if I should make this a seperate topic or not but can one use a Probot as well for an entertainer droid? I was asked this and honestly didn't know the answer.

Thanks again

Didn't tried with probot, but afaik , visual effect works on all chassis.

Playback module doesn't work on 3PO, surgical and LE.

And gratz on your first droid

Im not a DE, infact im not a Artisan, but, when i was on StarSider, this is what i did.

Buy around 20 Backpacks, and name them different things, like Copper, Cheap Copper, Inert gas, Cheap Inert Gas, etc.

And put them in your house, line them on the wall, so its organized, neet, pretty, and your good to do.

Also put a Crafting Station in your house near those, so if you need some more, turn around, open bag, rinse and repeat.

Also, get your self a TON of Heavy Harvs, which i think you have, but just incase, and do daily runs, dropping energy in, taking resources out.

Man, i should really pick up a Artisan professions.

*sigh*

Well I've made 9 droids so far and I have to say. It sure is a pain in the neck. I have a few crafter friends and none seem to have to go to such lengths to make their items. I guess it could be a grass is always greener sort of feeling on my end but I am getting extremely frustrated with trying to make things and realising that I need such&such component, only to realise Ineed a such&such component to make that other component... ad nauseum.

Sometimes it seems that it will never end.

There is just no easy way I can see to organize what needs what ingame. I've had to resort to writing things out in a notebook and even that's rather unorganized.

Once again I gotta hand it to you guys (and gals) who have made a living at this.

I've gotten my resources organized and thanks for the suggestions they really have helped a ton.

Losing money also doesn't help. There are some great DEs on Eclipse and I find I just can't keep up with them on quality for price.

It definatly CAN be a pain in the neck especially as your just starting, but now that I've been playing for a while, and building LOTS of droids, you get a handle on it. One thing that helped me a lot is there's about 9 components that comprise the basis for about every droid. I carry 2 crates of each of these on me at all times. 1 in a backpack, and the other crate in a storage droid.

Droid Brains - you really go thru these

Advanced droid brains - need them in factory crates to make the adv r3's

Droid Sensors - every single droid we can make needs one

Motive system - for basic models

advanced motive system - for advanced models

Manipulator arms

manipulator arm package sets

Advanced frame units

micro sensor suite

Quite often i will have factory crates of adv r3 and probot chassis with me as well, to save more time when crafting a droid.

So use those factories.. if your handcrafting each part, of each droid, that takes forever, and your right, is very annoying.... for me, i can do most of em in 5 mins or less, i just pick the deed, and plug in the parts that i already have. in some cases need to craft a couple combat clusters, but that's not a big deal since i also carry crates of the more popular modules with me (lvl 6 med, lvl 6 items storage, food crafting, combat mods, autorepair mods, creature harvest mods)... i'd love to carry the entertainer effects too, but i'm outta room! lol

Good luck, and I hope you stick with it, i've found DE to be a very rewarding profession, because of all the people I meet.

Wow.

That sux. I'm fairly convinced the stuff in my hopper isn't counting towards my house total. If it was I'm sure i'd have run out of space ages ago...

Honestly if that is true, I am getting hosed. My stuff counts towards it for sure.

Don't forget GP Modules and Electronic Memory Modules. Many subcomponents use up to 4 of each of these. I do factory runs of 1000 at a time of these. When you start making Seeker and Arakyd Droids, you'll go through them by the ton!

Whenever you put up a factory, have a specific plan for it. I usually place a factory for a week or more so I can update my backstock of GPs, EMMs, Brains, and the rest of the subsystems. It will get a lot less frustrating when you have crate lots of all the subsytems you use. I've been a Master DE now for about 4 months, and can build an R3 Advanced combat droid in about 10 minutes, since all the subsystems are pre-built and in crates. I just had an order fo 50 identical R3s that I was able to complete in just about a day.

Amen to those who suggested getting large harvesters! It takes a long time to get a good mix of the right resources, but putting two BER-13 mineral harvesters down on a new deposit of a resource can yield over 200K of that resource, and if you also harvest your own radioactive power, your cost can be less than .25 credits per unit - a LOT cheaper than buying it at 3 CPU or more!

Hang in there! The longer you do it, the easier it gets!

Another well-known trick to store items in your house is setting up a vendor and sell your stored items for 99999999. And heck, no one is going to buy a backpack of 1000 Droid Brains for that much cash. It's not the safest way to store items (if you're not careful and go on vacation for a week or two, the items will go off-sale and expire), but it makes it convenient so you don't have to store all your crap in different locations.

I tend to store my manufactured items in the vendor and keep the resources in backpacks...all near my crafting station.
