Thread: Balance Probot Petition (Everyone Please Read and sign!)

Just have to say I've been working on my character for weeks now! I can finally build advanced probots and I wish I couldnt ![]()
Like others have stated, they can take quite a beating. also, they take very few resources to make, I could understand making them stronger if they were expensive but it costs me about 2500 to make them (and I buy all my resources and master artisan parts) and I really don't think that justifies a massive pet. as it is they are very good for taking punishment. I sell a ton of these, and if any one complains saying they suck, I offer to let them take a few potshots at mine, when they realize it takes them forever to get it all the way down, they are usally readiy to buy one.

No they don't!!!. 40% AR0 armor would bring its 821 HAM to an effective 1149, still much lower than a lvl 15 creature. You have obviously never watched a player solo a bas nitch lair with a lvl 15 beetle.
Stop kidding yourself that the probot is any good. Itdoesnothing but leadnewbies(and probably the devs) into thinking that the probot "isn't all that bad", reducing the amount of support that we get from the community and making it less likely that our profession will ever get fixed.

Actually, in the Dev chat there was a little bit of discussion about DE's and their problems. It was stated that the problems are a bit difficult to work with. The solution may be just to make Droids more powerful than pets.
So I would expect either a nerf of pets, or make Droids more powerful. I would bet on the nerf. The other problem it the 2-1 ratio. Even if a Probot was more powerful...It will never be more powerfull that2 pets out at once. Either only allow 1 pet at a time (Yay!) or allow2 droids out at a time(Still a Yay!)
Just started a droid eng on another server because I like droids and keep hoping against hope they fix this class. My first toon is a CH and has an advanced probot 40% AR across the board with a HAM stat that says 819 but in actuallity is only 810.
Those saying that an adv probot is the best non-ch pet availible, have any of you ever owned a mountain krevol or a rock beetle? Don't count the CG, the CG is a TERRIBLE non-ch pet. The probot compares in now way to either the beetle or the krevol, they currently are THE BEST non-ch pets in the game. Now rumor has it that all CL15 and below pets will have light armor removed. If that is the case, the male forest slicehound will be the best non-ch pet @ 2.4K ham and 35% kinetic resist. So at the very best, probots would come in 4th, one step ahead of the CG....possibly.
I'd like to more battle type droids as well as possibly allowing experimentation on a probot to yeild a 1.5K to 2K ham with a damage in the range of 130-160. This would put the probot right up there as a viable non-ch pet. Until then, they look very neat and provide a marginal damage add since it seems to me that the 50 damage they do is always a body shot.
The HAM is probably fine where it is due to the fantastic armor (well when medium) and 40% resists. The damage is horrible. I understand the devs to have nerfed the probots before...but by allowing players to have non-ch pets that do 190 damage per attack vs the 50 damage of a probot is just insane.
My vote is to double the damage of Probots and triple the damage of Adv Probots.

Its NOT medium armor! It says "medium" but all the droid armor is nerfed. Its all AR0.
"Medium" armor would be AR2 and reduce 75% of all AR0 attacks in _addition_ to the 40% resists. This is not the case. Droid armor blocks damage only on the resists. Its armor type is really "none" (AR0), although it has resists. Search the armorsmith forums for how armor ratings are supposed to work.
I have verified this. I had a guild memberduel me andshoot my probot with a scout blaster (AR0 weapon). If the armor was really medium, the probot should have withstood 32 hits; assuming an average hit from the scout of 100 damage reduce by 75% of AR2 armor, for an 800 HAM droid. Thats not even counting the resists of the armor. My probot's health was reduced to near zero when we ended combat and she only hit it8 or 9 times. Exactly as you would expect if it were AR0 armor.
Try it yourself if you don't believe me. With AR2 and counting the 40% resists, an advanced probot should be able to withstand around 50 hits from a scout blaster. Can yours?
It's all in perception. Try and sell them as damage dealers and yes, you'll be right in saying that they are not good. But put them in a different light, that of defenders, and you have yourself a winner.
Besides, what do CH pet's do? Combat.... Anything else? Now what do droids do?
Do we just want to become another combat pet seller? I myself do not, but many may disagree...

I don't think it works that way (in terms of math).
example, assuming a creature does 100 dmg each hit:
on no armor, it takes 8.21 hits to bring down the probot
on 40% armor, 100 dmg becames 60 dmg each hit, so it takes 13.7 hits to bring down the probot which makes its effective HAM 100x13.7=1370
(at least that is my understanding of this)
Also, adding my thoughts...sold one probot in 2 monhts? Even before I can make advanced probots, I must have sold like 50 or more of the regular ones. I think the probots are just fine how they are. Of course, anything could be improved upon such as adding options to help with combat in a non-CH pet way. Things they can add could be shield generators, programmable functions, targetting systems etc. If they do this, they should take out the slot for general modules, probots are combat droids after all.
What is the difference between a non-CH pet with HAM 2000 and a probot with HAM 2000? Absolutely NO DIFFERENCE! We don't need to be CH's disguised as DE's. In case my point isn't clear, I'll state it again:
- probots works
- if the dev change anything, either make new droids or add differeniating features that sets probots apart from creature pets

I think the probots are fine as is. They take alot more of a beating than a lvl 15 creature. The attack stinks, but i like it that way, more combat exp for me. Save the real killer droids for the new droids.
Im with this guy, I have a cowardly gurreck and apeco peco and the probot always seems to be left standing, I dont need them to do anymore damage, I like the extra xp. My probots were a big help out a fort tusken last night and lasted fine in comparison to my pets.
