Honestly, I think the scanning is much more rampant on TestCenter than live....but that's just me.

I've never been scanned on live, and I'm carrying 3 sliced weapons on me. I was so worried about the Imperial Crackdown that I actually went out and insured all of my insurable items... and it was a waste of money (so far). It's so laughable at this point that I no longer even bother trying to avoid the patrols - I just drive right through 'em.

I'll be playing it safe again after patch 7, but that's more because you can't trust SOE to do anything right and I don't want to get caught by surprise.

I was just as worried, I put all my armour in my droid each time I went to town...ahh well it was fun to be worried for a little while.

Now, I never bother, and I too drive for the patrols on purpose..thats sad eh, trying to get a bit of the game's content by being fined hehe *shakes head in disgust*

I have a guildmate who is a Master Smuggler, and spends most of his life in Bestine, not ONCE has he been scanned. I dont know what the intent was, I can guess, but its not working out in live play.

On the other hand I came out of the Mos Espa spaceport to find nobody there (as usual) except 38, I did count them, Stormtroopers dead outside the spaceport door.

Now, even if you are a Rebel, this is not 'immersive gameplay'..this is another equivalent to a 'loot drop' for FP

Give this 'crackdown' some teeth for heavens sake..it is laughable as it stands

I think SOE takes "a certain point of view" to heart. The Imperial Crackdown was more about turning a few ghost town NPC cities into factional themeparks than it was about scanning for sliced items. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing, as rebels can use these cities to farm faction, and imps can do likewise by helping to guard these cities.

In the same vein, the Droid Invasion is going to be more about SOE finally giving DE's and droids the attention they deserve than a notion of droids suddenly running rampant throughout the game. They are slowing fixing bugs and making small incremental enhancements. It's progress, just not the kind that most here seemed to be expecting.

its been said that the Droid invasion wont trully be complete until the publish after next. this next publish is just getting the moduels working, only after that will we start seeing new droid models etc

Correct. The full plan is that this is a two-part DE set of changes. P7 adds the first round and P8 adds the second round.

So, we're only seeing some of the full list of changes in P7.

By the way, you all are going to get VERY hooked on being able to call your droid anywhere (you TC people know what I mean).

Small Enhancements? You do know this IS SOE.. the company that does 1 patch forward and 2 patches back? the 'Year' is almost here and really in my opinion the game is not close to what it was intended to be on launch day (with all the hype before launch day..Uggg). Really though the devs just dont know what to do with pets.. these are the 'EQ' minded peeps (look at CH's..case close). Highly doubt that DE will ever be at that plateau level as they should be. I have kept a open mind but the past record so far on the on DE just isnt that great.

I'll admit, unless there's something hidden in the next publish or so that they aren't telling us about so as to surprise us, this "Droid Invasion/Rework" is bunk. What we're getting it looks like is a reduction in quality of the droids we build. I understand that they can't make droids uber-powerful as that would set things out of whack with the CH group, but the fact is that we need SOMETHING to make this profession viable and make droids something people want/need. Right now, I'm only able to sell droids loaded out with crafting modules. No one wants a probot as an equivalent level pet has better HAM and typically better damage. Making an R2 unit able to fire a blaster is not going to solve our problems. I like some of the new droid functions for publish 8 (entertainer droid for example) but that only sort of addresses the problem.

DE is a lot of work with no payoff right now, it honestly doesn't matter what the quality of droid armor modules are right now, or crafting modules. The end results are always the same. They can hold very few items in the end, and their other functions are questionably useful at best. We can't rename bi-ped bots, most of our droids are R-series models which don't do anything exectionally interesting. The most use I've seen for droids are the chasis used as decorations.

I used a lot of my skill points, and a lot of my time to get to MDE in preparation for what was promised as the great revision of the profession. I'm going to stick it out with DE until past publish 8 to give the devs a chance, but my faith in the rework is fading fast. I hope they can do something to revive it.

Eutock,

I knew I always liked you...

You put your finger right on your nose there with that 2nd paragraph. Well said.

I seriously hope they havent given up on some of the ideas they talked about early on....

  1. Surgical droid that can stim you when you get incomp.

  2. Power droid you can attach to a harvester and not have to worry about supplying power

All I see left from that list is fixing droid problems and the exploding mse..... but I love the idea our bugs will finally get fixed as far as the two above.... dont give up on those ideas- I still love them
