I may be an exception here, but I do want them to keep the SW feel as much as possible (yeah I know, as long as there are creature handlers out it will never happen, but still). In the time we are, droids are just utility things. Combat droids are BANNED. Which is just fine with me.

100% agreement here as well. I hope this is the opinion of the silent majority.

to be perfectly honest I'm surprised they create some kind of "droid handler" profession along with Droid Engineer anyway, considering they did "Bio Engineer" and "Creature Handler" ... it would have made sense..

I know a lot of people's arguments about not having a Droid Handler is that "No one should require the skills to command a droid" .. and I agree to an exstent. But you SHOULD require skills to command several "units". Thos units could be droids, humans or pets.. its irrelevant, you need (wait for it) the ability to "command". And that, surely, would fit perfectly with the "Squad Leader" profession.

In short, if you want combat droids then place the certs for them in the Squad Leader profession.

A combat droid would class as any droid ABOVE the current probot... so basicaly, any non Squad Leader could still use any of the current droids, so we still don't lose a market.

This would make people WANT to be squad leaders, giving that profession an actual reason for existance (which it currently doesn't have) and allows us DE to continue our lives without the CHers beee-atching at us about how an engineering class has suddenly become a combat class.

Either way, my original message stands - FORGET DROIDEKA ... for now at least

I must say i want to be able to build droidekas. Not a light version that's nerfed to nothing but one like those which made two jedi knights running away in episode 1.

P.S.: Please don't tell me Obi-Wan wasn't a jedi knight at this time.

i agree 100% fix bugged and none working stuff first!!!! but for the level skill it takesto make the present combat droids they don't cut it. the DZ-70 is just a joke 45 ham what is the droid going to fight??? the Probot will try and let that droid solo a group of jawas it will drop like a rock. Compare droid engineer to bio engineer which is another craft skill, humm a master BE gets to make a rancor and we (DE) get to make a BLL, R3 and a C3PO humm i really don't thinks that's fair. I don't really care what kinda combat droid(s) they add as longs as it is atleast = to a Cowardly Gurreck. I think they should unnerf the probot.

Droidekas ugh i can hear it now :

JObacca says: so you make droids

Ely says: yes

JObacca says: will i need a droidekas

Ely says: k

JObacca says: i need it black with red limbs and for under 200 credits since i still need to train novice medic oh btw i am in your guild to so is there a discount.

"I get the impression (could be wrong) that some folks enter DE in the hopes of commanding vast legions of droids in battle. Droid engineering is about building droids." --Eutock

Ya just hit the issue right on the head Eutock. I've spoken to more than a couple DE's whose inspiration to join DE was to command a droid army. Taking this into consideration, Its understandable why they desperatly want droidekas. They want to take advantage of all the work they have put in.

But due to that, I feel sorry for them. DE is not and most likely never will be a "combat" profession, nor should it be. Its a artisan profession.

*Note- I'm not making any kind of judgement on peoples reasoning of becoming a DE, I just hink that those with aspirtations of combat domination via droids have set themselves up for quite a dissapointment.

and I want cake and I want Ice Cream and I wanna Pony!

After they fix our broken profession, modules, and current droids, like give BLL's and Protocols a Use and restrict what modules can go where etc... If I can't Use the combat droids that are introduced, expect to pay with arms eyes and other body parts to share the pain of my creating droids I can't use.

Yeah, I think many of us are really sick of it. Personally, I wouldn't even want a 'droideka' or whatever they are called. I'd rather just havea protocol droid to which I can give a gun and he can shoot.

LOL... people whining about the whining.

Whatever! You're never going to stop people wanting Droidekas, so why waste your time trying? Droidekas are in the game, therefore it is reasonable to expect a Droid Engineer to be able to make one.

I am in agreement, however, that they need to fix our profession before they start adding to it. Get everything up and running that's already supposed to be in the game, and THEN start thinking about how to add combat droids. And don't give me that crap about Star Wars continuity... that left this game a LONG time ago. At least combat droids would be Star Wars-like even if they're not technically supposed to be around during this time period.

Kinda going along with the droid handle idea above. I always thought that if they implemented new combat droids, though as much as I'd like to be able to use them on my MDE, I think maybe the certs should go in Squad Leader or something to be able to call and control multiple combat droids. I think that would be a nice push for them. And in turn would help boost the profession a bit.

Who knows though.

Adding a droidika would be the easiest bone to throw DEs

Make it a master DE schematic

Use an existing animation<=== saves alot more work than you think

Take old probot specs<===== an existing spec would have to change little, assign old attributs to new variable

VampireLameName lurk elswhere

Also if anyone should gain certs for droids its BH.

We currently have droid related skills that do jack and crap.

You need heals for droids, DE only usage.

You need a DE only combat droid.

Everything else can take time.
