I've had enough of it. No more **edit** posts about how we need droideka's. It is such a n00b DE statement to make, and is really begining to grate my cheese. People are basing their entire arguments on the current state of DE based on the fact we can't build stupid lookin 3-legged bugs.

You have all said yourselfs, what this game needs ISN'T new content, its fixing the existing conent.

I couldn't give a monkeys about adding a droideka right now, it will just be as broken as everything else.

So please, stop the posts about Droideka's and start the posts about fixing what we already HAVE.

I dunno, it'd be nice to have new droids. I mean, CH's can have more creature types than we can have droids. I'd like to have some more, with some fixes to our old ones.

I'll second your irritation Hoshi.

As much as I would like to see more combat droids available, especially the droideka, I am much more concerned with getting the profession fixed / cleaned-up, and viable. We need all our bug and exploit issues taken care of and we need to have our product made useful (i.e. modules that work right, etc. see other posts, yada yada yada).

Fix the profession, make it viable, THEN add new content. It applies to the game as a whole as well as the DE profession.

why not do both in doses? Give us something new, and fix something that's broke?

I agree, I fail to understand why people keep asking for the Droidika when the Probot got nerfed because it was _too powerful_....

...unless these people just want a Droidika with the same stats as the current Probot?

You don't seem to understand what has already been suggested to get the droideka in ... the developers have as good as said that they will only add them in if they add a cert system ... so by you all shouting "add droideka!" you are infact shooting yourselves in the foot because if they ARE added you won't be able to use them without the cert. Would that really make you happy? Because I can tell you now, it will just be one extra issue customers have against buying droids... and we REALLY don't need any more reasons on my NOT to buy droids.

The fact is, we have a borked profession. The profession needs to become stable before an unstable element like a powerful combat droid is added ... adding them now will just completly smash apart what little we have left.

Forget the Droideka, give me an R2 unit that hold a module NO OTHER unit can hold, retains the colour of the frame used in its contruction and retains any new paint longer than 24 hours!

OH yeah, and I wouldn't mind actually being able to craft and call my R-series again....

I completely agree with you Hoshi and its sad to see that others completely missed the point of what you were saying. Nothing can be done for this profession unless it gets a complete make over, and I'm not talking about new droids being added. Before any new content can be added, the old content must be fixed. Items such as the HAM and damage cap, Experimentation levels, module effectiveness, experimentation effectiveness, and correcting current component usage needs to be addressed before the first Droideka even rolls off the assembly line.

Those that constantly ask for new combat droids, without also asking for fixes to the current issues, are very short sighted. At this point, a Droideka would be just like the Probot nerf. Nothing more than a band-aid that has no promise of ever getting fixed. Ah sure, I want my Droideka, but I'd rather be able to make a droid that it matters whether or not I used the best materials and had the best experimentation rate on. This is a crafting profession like Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing. We should not be like CHs where all pets are created equal. What is the point of having experimentation points and an entire tree devoted to its developemnt, if the skills never get used, or have an effect. If we get Droidekas before this issue is fixed, all we are getting is a new pok-E-mon Droid. Yes I would love to have one and be able to craft one, but guess what. The only thing that will be different between it and a Probot will be the damage and HAM. It will still be the same old cookie cutter mold, one after another. Ok, so it will be a tastier looking cookie, but it will taste just as stale

To back up Hoshi's argument a little more I offer the following.

Many people had asked for a long time to be able to color their Droids. We see how well that was implemented.

Do you really want any "new" content before the fix what already ddoesn't work?

Man I soooooo agree with the poster. I wonder if those wanting droidekas are people from other professions coming here asking they want them.

I could care less about droidekas or any other combat droids!

I may be an exception here, but I do want them to keep the SW feel as much as possible (yeah I know, as long as there are creature handlers out it will never happen, but still). In the time we are, droids are just utility things. Combat droids are BANNED. Which is just fine with me.

Just give us lots of utility droids and fix what we have. Add many modules, fix/enhance the ones we already have, have certain droids hold only certain modules, fix module/droid combinations (like power with repair unit), etc.

I use a probot and it tanks just fine.

I'm in 100% agreement. Get the full DE profession 99% fixed before moving on to new content.

I get the impression (could be wrong) that some folks enter DE in the hopes of commanding vast legions of droids in battle. Droid engineering is about building droids. If it's true about a certification system, then great, SOE is at least on the right track (even if the locomotive isn't running). It would allow DE's to focus on production, and, just like any weapon, allow those who want to use combat droids properly to work towards those required skill sets.
