Thread: Post Module Ideas Here
gernade harness module.
Add a gernade to a droid and it will add an "bomb" command.
it works just like the Follow Target command except when the droid is in range of the target it is following.
KA-BOOOOM!no more droid, mobs are aggroed to the droids owner. Fair, balenced, adds droid resale, your not so upset if your droid probot is about to die if you can yell bomb quick enough. Hey that gives me another idea. A self destruct module for if your droid gets lower than 15% ham. Itll end with a bang. Nuts bolts everywhere itll be beautiful. Ill sell mice by the millions!
I love the Probe and Sampling Module. Probe especially. I have never under stood why there isn't a tool that allows us to see the concentrations of all resources in an aera without surveying 20 times. You plant a miner and you get an overview of every resource in the area and it's concentration.
Probe would be great for weanie Crafters to locate a spot with the appropriate resource and concentration. Land at the Satrport, pull out the 10 Probe B's and send them out.
These modules would be a great way for lower level DE to make a steady stream of money.
Not a DE but have some ideas.
Tracking Module - Would work similiar to the the new ranger abilities though at a lower level. Available only for the probot.
Harvestor Interface - Would allow a droid to interface with a harvestor. The harvestor would also have to have one of these units. Make it an optional in the schematic. This would allow a person to access the harvestor radial as long as they are on the same planet as the harvestor. Would be able to supply main and power. Also change resource. Redeeding and emptying the hopper would still require you to go there. They would also have to make harvestor waypoints non-destroyable as long as the harvestor is in operation. You would move the waypoints from data pad to the droid (data storage module maybe?). When you acess the datapoint on the droid it would pull up that harvestors radial.
I like the farming module idea. Also make it for the rest of the resources. I would recommend however that it be equal to the sampling rate. Not a harvestor rate. Otherwise there wouldn't be much of a point of a harvestor if you have a mobile one following you. Maybe give it a small hopper size of 1k.
Weapon Modules - I'd rather see hardpoints. Make it hardpoint modules. Higher level DE's can add more hardpoints. Max of three. The owner then could equip the hardpoint with a weapon they purchase. The hard way would be to have the droid pick the best weapon based on range. Probably take a lot of work from SOE though. Other option is have the owner tell the droid which weapon to equip. Probably an easier solution and better liked by the players. Maybe also have levels in hardpint modules that correspond with weapon certs. Novice DE would be able to make Novice hardpoints. Cert in all CDEF's and other novice weapons. Intermediate would have acces to Intermediate weapons, etc. Master would have the elite weapons such as the T21. Maybe exclude the BH weapons from the list of cert weapons for this. They are highly specialized weapons and probably shouldn't be available to droids. The weapons on the droid would decay just like they do for a PC requiring periodic replacement or repair. If this would be to powerful you can always limit the number of say master level hardpoints that can be put on to one.
Any type of attack modules i dont like the fact that my weapon is predetermined and i can add any other type of attack.
I like the concept behind modules but they shouldnt define a droid, they should just customise it
Chassis should have the droidsprimary abilities integrated into them, with restrictions on what modules can be installed (no more medical in an MSE) but with less restrictions on Masters DE (because they got the jury-rigging ability down pat)
Having said that I do feel that we need more choice in modules once we get our existing modules fixed (when-o-when will data modules be able to store waypoints!).
The 'entertainer module' is a good idea (and theres even an example of one in the old SW roleplay) as is the slicing module. While the crafting stations are a nice idea how about crafting tool modules (personally I'd find that more useful)?
The Probot always struck me more as a 'survey/sample' droid than a combat droid (it didnt exactly put up a fight in ESB) and the DZ70 needs to either have Bounty hunter seeker abilities incorporated into it or a serious boost to its stats before you can even think of what modules to put in it (its just used like any other chassis right now)
Survey Droid
Small, flying seeker/survey/sample droid. Carries datapad, storage and a special "survey module". They come in different flavors such as Mineral Survey Droid, Chemical Survey Droid, etc. The owner turns on the droid and gets a list of available planet resources based on the droid type. The owner can then pick out a survey area (as large as you want, if you're willing to wait) and tell the droid what resource it should look for. The owner can also tell the droid what quality or density of the resource should be noticed. Then the droid is released. It flies around the designated area and when it finds a resource that matches all the criteria, it takes one sample and marks the location with a waypoint and relevant info (such as maximum density). The droid then emails its owner when it has completed its mission and the owner can check the waypoints and corresponding ore samples to determine where to place a harvester.
These droids could potentially be destroyed by hostile fire to make things interesting, although they should also move quickly about their task and be quite hard to hit. Maybe light to medium armor and basic defenses could be part of the advanced models.
Spybot
Another small and fast-moving flying bot. This one can be sent to a particular waypoint and the owner will receive a visual image of the target location in realtime. The owner of the droid could then pan, tilt and zoom through the image, possibly a 100m x 100m area. Would be good for spying on the opposition or scouting out some dangerous territory. This bot would be vulnerable to hostile fire, both from opposite faction players and NPC hostiles.
A variant of this would be a remote-control bot where the operator actually sees through the bot's optics in first person perspective and can control the bot for a range of perhaps 1km. Only the operator would be able to see through the bot's optics and he would have to be sitting or standing still while doing so.
That's my two cents worth.
