Thread: How good is the Le Repair droid as a tanker?

Well, I've used all three and in my personal opinion the LE repair is the weakest of the bots.

It's mainly hampered by the fact that it can only hold two autorepair mods to the probots/R3s 5 slots.

Just my 2 cents.

I assume that you need to have one combat in the LE Repair or it can't be used in combat. Is that right?

I "think" only the probot can attack with no combat modules installed.

The probot and the DZ70 I am pretty sure, but the DZ70 isn't a very good tank.

Most of my customers are or were CH's they liked the pets they got-till soe nerfed em! Well, apparently when my customers intend to tank, with pets, they do it in somthing that was quite odd for someone to try using droids in, they attempted to use full combat probots and r3's in the DWB!

You may be thinking "how did they do?" sorry to burst your bubble, but extremely poorly, Some of the people on this raid were using durni's as tanks (as in a helping to kill a real tough mob-tank, not a divert aggro tank) that lasted 2-3x as long as anyone's droids did. I brought one of my own tank LE's, it made it to the first hallway, drew the aggro of a SBD and was lieing on the ground there for the rest of the raid.

While the durni's were still goin' Plus, one or two of my customers have asked for "a droid that can take more damage, or at least hit harder" completely unaware that I was unable to build a droid like that. Either the DEV's need to make a friday feature on how to operate a droid and why they are different from creatures or make creatures work more like droids, or vise versa, cause peeps just can figure out these things. I never know wearing the tag would qutomatically label you as a droid help desk, many questions even I didnt know-such as how much dmg the combat droid is actually doing without taming the deed, same with a MSE bomb droid. and I cant use most-if not any of the droids I sell.

Someone stated that the Probot breaks off combat every once in a while. I've been using a probot since day 1 and I've never witnessed this. I have however seen it retreat back 20m or so every once in a while and then get back in the fray. It never stops shooting however. With 5 auto-repair modules I find it to be the best tanker. Plus it looks cool.

Combat Droids have never been, are not, and will never be as good as CH pets. CH's spend skill points to control there pets, combat droids can be used by anyone. It's the whole "free checkers" thing. That said LE's make very good tanks. with 2 auto repair modules anddroid stim-c's they last a VERY long time and never breakoff from combat. Probots are good tanks but work better as a combat helper, doing very decent damage and lasting almost as long an LE or R3. I cannot bring myself to make combat R3's.

Yeah none of our combat bots are going to be as good as a higher lever CH/BE pet. Why?

All of our current droids would be considered CL10 or below if put into that system. We dont have higher level combat droids right now.

This may changeif the Droid Commander/Handler prof happens.

Our combat droids are very helpful for people who are grinding a combat prof solo. Taking them to the Corvette, DWB or other high content area they wont be that much help.

and yes you need to put a combat mod in a LE repair to make it attack.

A lot of people forget about using 6 auto-repair modules in an R3 and being part of a group. You can have one person use the auto-repair (R3) and others tanking with their LE's or whatever. They work pretty good as long as you have some good auto-repair modules installed.

I favour the LE over the Probot because the Probot seems to mysteriously break off combat sometimes. As a BH I send in the droid to preoccupy the mark... an LE goes dilligently to work and never disengages. Probots: they seem to disengage frequently and move away to a location that seems optimum for ranged attacks. This usually leaves the mark to reaggro and turn on me.

The fact that probots often zoom off to fire at range also means that you end up chasing it all over creation (because it's out of range) in order to try to repair its damage. Yes, you eventually issue the "stay" command (which you have to keep spamming because the droid is being attacked and wants to defend itself), but in the heat of a fight that isn't your first thought. So it ends up being very frustrating.

The LE is okay fighting but is too slow. I say go with an R3 tank.
