More I think about it, the more I like the idea of a Droid Handler profession. True enough having "Droid Wars" may be a bit off the timeline, but that was pimped out a while ago now. But I have no doubt that it would be "star warsy".

Players want powerfull combat droids { myself included }. Maybe by the devs more or less insisting on a droid handler professions, perhaps they will make combat droids a truly powerfull fighting force. The NEW pre-nerf CH profession of sorts. Everyone will initially flok to droid handler profession for no other reason than its relatively quick easy power. But everyone will still play all the other professions because they are better at doing certain things... a.k.a "Balance".

Thanks for the info Drashk, I'm brand new to the DE stuff, and even using the search feature, its difficult to locate the information you're looking for.

Ok, here's how I see the Droid Handler issue....

1) It would be another incomplete profession and basically a skill point sink if we have the major impact on the droids available.

2) It makes us the BE equivalent to CH...and lets face it, the majority of BE sales are not pets to CH. (Let alone, how many CH do you see these days? not many). Using the same analogy, it will not create a dramatic change in droid sales beyond the initial patch.

Those are my major disputes with it. IfI wanted to be a BE, I would have chosen to play one.

However, I think we have a lot more on our plate comming in the next couple months that are far mor important than the DH issue, like JTL and "the decay problem."

well thats nonsense.

noone ever said he wants that DEs are like BEs, noone ever wants it and the Devs will never make it that way.

if u dont want to be a BE thats ok but if u play DE(which are constructors now) u cant say something against beeing a constructor in the futur. every droid ingame is made by DEs thats what the profession is. DH will just be another profession consuming droids. also a DH wouldnt be much work to do, balance can be made against CH and droidmodels are already ingame as npcs. alsoDH could have high dmg low ham pets, as CH have low dmghigh ham pets.but now with all the jedi and space changes there is nothing made for players that dont want to be jedi or fly spaceships...

i would like to see a droidhandler as soon as possible, would be some nice new contend to play and attract players

Droid Engineer/DroidHandler-The fact that the game needs high end Combat Droids possibly with ShieldGenerator Modules is not in questions. Most players and DE's alike agree with this fact. Its obvious that we can't have these type of droids soley in the useable possession of the MasterDE. Then, of course, everyone would want to be a master DE, at least for the moment. (they might give up after grinding the first 500,000 xp points though)

Nevertheless, a Droid Handler profession would be suitable to enable players to use certain types of droids up to the highest level of Master DH. But I do think that a Master DE should have use of all the droids he/she creates (with the exception of trade specific modules-ie; scout, medical, entertainer etc...)

And the comment about Combat Droids not in the current timeline is horse**edit**: There are alot of things not in the current timeline. The big one would be the introduction of a massive Jedi population. If I'm correct, Darth is dead, Kenobi is dead and Luke is the last Jedi. I don't remember Luke opening up a Jedi training center, but I could be a bit out of date. Droids, combat or utility, are and always have a been a big part of Star Wars and should be a huge part of SWG.

And in the upcoming upgrade (Jump to Lightspeed) Droids should be required to operate any space faring craft and should degrade over time to the point where it needs to be rebuilt (for sentimental purposes) or replaced.

I see a "droid Handler" profession as the only solution to combat droids. I don't want everyone who wants to use combat droids to be able to use a super powerful droid without having some sort of certification system for it, and I don't want such a certification system tacked onto Droid engineer because I don't want everyone who wants to use droids going DE, with that the market would become flooded with droid engineers, and our sells would be hurt because of the massive increase in competition, sort of...ehh...maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure i understand your BE/CH analogy. The one difference btw a CH and a potential Droid Handler/Commander is that a DH would not be able to go into the wild and tame a droid.

All droids in my view would be made by a DE and the higher level ones would be used by the DH.

The best thing to do would be to ask TH to do a poll of the community here to see if the playerbase would be interested in a Droid Handler profession.

Here's the issue: Have you ever run accross a player that wants something less than "the best"? As far as CH pets go, "the best" are not out there in the wild anymore, but are made by BE's. Most current CH's have BE pets and not "wild" ones unless they are of the old extinct variety. Even Novices get BE pets because they'll last a lot longer than a "wild" version in order to get the most experience out of them.

I feel I am accuratly predicting that sales to a DH profession would be on the same order as BE sales to CH possibly slightly more or less depending on how hard it is to get to the pre-requisites that would exist for DH.

BEs in order to be good at it AND they can also be a Master CH if they branch DH off the right Basic Prof. then you can be a MDE,MArt,MDH. IMO the right branch is off MArt as its the only Prof that has any Technical knowage. Also the devs have long ago stated that they gave us MORE SPs then they wanted to so there is room for new profs. because they wanted people dependant on each other. As it sits right now ONLY DE and Jedi for the most part meet this standard so I guess everyone else needs to be "Fixed".
