Thread: Possible solution to make combat droids unique

First of all I love the idea of deciding what type of damage a droid with a combat module does, after all, PVPers will want something that does stun damage.

Also for the sake of this fabled balance that the devs talk about. (I haven't seen it yet) why not give a droid some modifiers based on the owner, things like dodge, damage mitigation, accuracy etc at 0.25 - 0.5 of the owning players with a definate cap based on chassis (Say having one type of droid agile enough to dodge well, another heavy enough to take a lot (damage mitigation)) That way you can scale it without having to worry about giving newbies a combat monster.

I agree about environmental difficulty too, I think a lot of it should be increased in difficulty significantly

Thanks Ash, I do my best.

I don't think it will violate the checkers theory by TH, since newbs won't be able to get uber droids if the droids can only hold weapons they can hold. It is also more realistic since combatdroidsare in factable to hold weapons. The only problem I foresee is someone buying a combat droid and never buying another. This can be resolved by making the droid specialise in only one weapon type (excluding heavy weapons and melee weapons. A sword weilding combat droid would look pretty ridiculous actually)

Combat modules will thus have a specific use (carbine combat module, rifle combat module etc). Once the owner drops carbine, his droid cannot effectively use carbines anymore and he'll have to buy another droid. *bling bling*

Besides linking weapon skills, droids can also execute one or two specials which the owner has. Maybe not knockdowns or overly effective specials, just basic ones like aiming and overchargeshot. The execution of specials should also impact the HAM of the droid, thus making it less desirable for the droid to use them. They can be in the form of verbal commands like "Special 1!" or "Do your thing!". That'll be cool.
