Yea I can't beleave it either. All the work SOE put into the DH proffesion and they are going to force it on us.

I spoke with Thunder at the fanfest. He ask if I was making lots of money with the new droids. I told him NO not lots, but I am making enough money to stay afloat now.

I spoke briefly with him about the DH proffesion and the communication. He is still insistence that it's the DE's community fault about the communication and not SOE. After that I felt like I was talking to a brick wall again. So I can see why the DH is back and is being pushed on us after JTLS. SOE beleaves the only way we can have Combat Droids is if we swallow the DH proffesion with it. The DEV's time would be better spent FIXING all the bugs IMO!

Time better spent fixing bugs and a DC profession being the best alternative to combat droids are related a bit differently than you think. The community *did* indirectly demand a DC profession, in that we demanded high level combat droids (we being a large part of the community, DE and non-DE alike). As a few people have already posted here, when you really sit down and think about it, when you really weigh all the options, you can't give the high powered droids to an existing profession (without taking away part of what makes them unique), and you can't give them to everyone without upping the standard and forcing everyone to use them to have a chance. Not going to debate those points, already done it thousands of times on these boards. Now, back to my original point about bug fixing and a DC profession... Bug fixing is something demanded by the DE profoession (and rightfully so) that will indirectly benefit the rest of the player base (though most of them wouldn't even realize it, for the most part they would all be behind the scenes stuff). On the other hand, bringing bigger/better droids into the game is something that is very visible and appealing to many players, meaning more happy players (read more $$$ for SOE). Now, while from a DE's perspective it looks like we're getting the shaft on that one, as developers they have to look at the game as a whole and what will make the most people happy....

Having said all that, I'll also bring up that supposedly bug fixes are done by a different group than new content for the most part. Furthermore, I know they've said at some point that they wouldn't add in new professions (aside from the space ones) till all the old ones have been fixed/revamped, so I don't think this is going to be a near future thing (probably mid next year at the earliest), leaving plenty of time for bug fixes.

We yelled and asked for more UTILITY droids.

We had some half finished half broken, half useless utility modules.

Even if I do like the Idea of combat droid, I think there is far far more work to do on the utility droid then spend the time to make yet another broken profession, that will be another copy/paste of the CH profession.

How many months did they take to stop us to TAME our droids?

How many months will they need to stop us to have to teach the droid 5 command to name them?
It is not a dog for christ sake.

How many month will they need to change the label of the harvesting Bonus to what it really is Harvesting rate

Seriously, even if the 2 publish that were supposed to be aimed at the droid weren't bad, they certainly weren't good either.

Are those kind of stuff hard to code? No.
Do they take alot of time to code? No.
Do they unbalance the game? No.

It give you an idea of how droids are important for them.

We allready make astrotech droids. What JTL will give us is mods that can be used for some sort of space craft needs.

I agree Jenden. I don't like the philosophical idea of a DH, but I do so the game mechanic reason for it's existence. Yes, all people should be able to use droids, but game mechanic wise if everyone can use them then eventually everyone will be forced to use them. And that's not fair.

Ok, Im relatively new. Im lost on why the DH prof is such a big deal. The bottom line is we will get to create these droids for that prof. Thats more sales in my book. People want to have the option of high level combat droids. as long as we stay vocal and and get other content along with that publish we will be fine.

This prof has seen alot of love. Alot more than other profs. Just ask the entertainer, CH, smuggler, Dancer, Musician, etc. All the combat profs are abt to be nerfed along with the armorsmiths and weaponsmiths. Enjoy the added content.

My two cents.

Well it's not that "everybody" is against DH, it's more that we think they should fix the current bugs first. While I agree the current bugs should be fixed first, I also think that the DH is probably the only truly balanced way to add in really big droids.

While it may seem like the DE profession has gotten lots of love (which it has,) you need to consider how bad it was. The fact remains that very few people "need" a Droid, and once they have one, they don't need to replace it. I'm not sure why you think that Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths will be nerfed, yes their products "may" be worse after the revamp, yet people will still NEED their products and they will get repeat business.

I am a huge believer in the concept of droid decay so im with you on that. By "nerf" i mean they are in for some huge changes (Im speculating).

Id love for the devs to just have a General Publish post-JTL where all they do is fixbugs for each prof. Since we can assume that we will not get a publish of our own for a long time (other than JTL content or Adv. combat droids) maybe this is something to lobby for.

This has probably already been discussed, but will existing astromech droids (R2, R3, R4, R5)be capable of use in JTL ships and stuff?

all that has been stated is that they will be used in basically all ships. How important they are has yet to be determined.

I mean like, will they all have some default abilities? Like can all astromechs be able to repair/autopilot ships? And if so, will existing ones be updated? Or will those be seperate modules instead?

Also, when do we get to build blastech droids? I've heard about them and also heard we were getting them last publish, no beans on them yet?

The point of my last reply is that they have not told us any of that info yet and we wont know those details for several months.

No new combat droids until after JTL. So no info on that either.
