Thread: *low power* on DE boards
The Droid Handler idea isn't dead. Go read the latest posts by Thunderheart. Also note that he says the plate is full on planned man power through 2004. If we don't get what they have ready now, we won't get anything at all for another year. We have the next two publishes to get our "love" and if it doesn't come now because we all moan and groan, we won't get a thing besides more bandaid fixes.
Out of the two choices, put combat droids in the DE tree or make a new profession for droids, I prefer the new profession. I may end up dabbling in it myself and if it is fun give up DE for good.
I think that says a lot about your position, but I agree that you're entitled to it.

I _really_ hope they post today. Weekends are prime playing time, and if its time to change professions, sooner would be better than later.
That said. This has been an interesting journey.
and honestly, now that we are at the end of it, I wouldnt care if they added DC. Kinda funny. I look at it like this. when all is said and done, its all just numbers. whether you add a horizontal cert that spends 50 skill points or make a new profession that requires 50 skill points, its still 50 skill points. Everything else is just words. And honestly, im not hung up on words, so if adding a new profession is fast and easy, go for it. Especially if the droids honest to god are finished and sitting in some code vault.
In an ideal world they would work droids into the current professions, and add balance with otherdisadvantages instead of skill points. Especially at a time when they are changing the entire combat system. I still find it laughable they talk about game balance, yet I cant play PvP without getting one-shotted.
I dont think this DC furor would ever have been a furor, if TH hadnt said we wanted it. I think we would of rolled our eyes, **edit** a bit, and rolled over. It was that statement that was a rally cry, and what made this what it is.
But, our intense hatred of the idea has done 1 very important thing. It has opened the Dev's eyes to utility droids. Last week, they didnt even know what a utility droid was, now they think they could possibly add 5 or 6 of them maybe. That would double our capability!
We've been heard, and that in itself is a major accomplishment. What comes next, who can tell.
I think that's why so many are silent...we've been burned so many times in the past that any form of optimism is just foreign.

That is exactly where I am. I am sitting back patiantly waiting. But my patiance is running terribly thin these days. I hope that for a change, SOE will underpromise and overdeliver. But, trust me, I am not holding my breath.
