/agree. We need something that will keep ppl coming back to us for either repair or replacement. Since im sure the astromech would not be destroyed... how abt requiring the use of a reconstruction kit on it?

Excellent post on the idea of droid decay/damage in JTL Straker

Tk, I know you and I actually probably agree on droid decay, andthat it wont be added soon. I just think that JTL is the PERFECT time to give us a repeat Droid market. People will want to fly ships, and fight in them, by adding Droid repeat business, they wont even flinch.

I hesitate to try to guess what will happen with JTL yet...since I have like NO information on it really.

I will say that I'm guessing we'll see new droid modules (Engine module, Shield module, etc.)...but that is only a guess.

If that's the case, most every player will need a new droid to assist with flying their ship. Heck, every Pilot profession has a tree just for it.

As to decay and how it relates to both ground and space...

I seriously think we need to hold tight until we see the JTL beta and get a chance to try it out. Then, we can work on how to better a decay/repair type system. I just think there's too many unknowns right now for us to try to build any kind of system or proposal.

I agree that we DO need such a change/revamp. I'd just prefer to wait until we know more about how this will all play and what's been coded so far.

Well TK, I respectfully sorta disagree. While it's probably to much to ask for a full Droid Decay system in JTL, we may get something like we have talked about here.

The last thing we want is to get to Beta in JTL, and see ntohing like what we talked about here. Then when we bring it up, get told "To late to add that now, need to fix these bugs first, wish you had brought that up earlier, maybe at a later date.... yadda yadda."

I know you don't have any type of idea what is coming, neither do I. What I do know is that changes or additions are a lot easier to add now, then in Beta.

You'd be surprised...

When I was in Beta 3, they were making changes to the Bleed system the night it went up....live....and they were sending us System messages about it too.

I think that tying Droid Battery use to Vitality makes perfect sense and shouldn't be that hard. Of course, I don't know the code, so.../shrug.

Decay is a pretty hot topic right now, so I'll make sure that TH is aware of such...

Looks good to me, though you may want to mention that are combat droids are only viable in comparison to non-bugged BE pets (I know they're working on it but its usually good to make sure your comparing similar things).

Please stress this to the devs. The astromechs need to be crucial for ships in JTL. As you mentioned this is a huge X-factor for us.

I'm pretty sure that they know this already. Of course, since we have so little in the way of practical information, any ways that droids relate to ships are (currently) speculatory. I suspect more info will flow in the next 6-8 weeks.

We really need a "Uber" item that we can sell (Like armorsmiths and their composite). Astromechs may be the ticket.

Well, most of sell the heck out of fully loaded R3 Adv. already. I would like to see the BLL Adv. step up and take some kind of place as another 'uber' droid item.

As I'd suggested in the post above, I seem them as a way to deal with storage issues but I also think they'd be great for loading/unloading storage to/from ships.

I have several ideas for this but ill wait to post it in the inevitable JTL thread.

Yes...that's likely a ways off though.

Otherwise I like what i see there.

Thanks. I guess we'll see what comes of it.

Looks good TK, but ya gotta make the font bigger. Almost impossible to read on my big screen.

I'm sure I'll have a few more comments after I rest my eyes.

[Edit : Rested, and remembered that CTRL-and the mousewheel can do wonders]

The list pretty much sums up DE for me. I really think that it needs to be stressed (since TH isn't always totally familiar with droid systems) that the combat stats are already in the droid once it's tamed - it's not like we are asking for a new system that is comparable to weapon stats. We already have it - it's just not reflected on the deed.

I do believe there was a reason for this - because they knew they were bumping up combat droids again in Publish 8 and making the system scaled the way it is made it easier to make that transition. However, now that they have "settled", the final stats need to display on the deeds, unquestionably. Even if they have to make it dynamic in case it does change again.

After Master Artisan parts, this is the top droid concern for me right now. Combat droids decay nicely as-is, and the one thing keeping the market from being all it can be is this.

They know, J....they know.

This will get resolved (ETA unknown). When it is, non-CH BE pets and our combat droids should be fairly even and balanced.....we hope.

Yes, sorry about that. I did the draft using Outlook Express (1st time doing that) and the font sizes were messin' with me. I wanted to get this posted soon, so I didn't sweat the formatting thing much.

Yea...I should probably remove "deed" as it relates to listing the combat stats. The basic idea here was to get across that we shouldn't be held to some weighted standard for our stats when other weapon-producing professions do not have to do the same.

I do believe there was a reason for this - because they knew they were bumping up combat droids again in Publish 8 and making the system scaled the way it is made it easier to make that transition.

Yea, maybe. But wouldn't we want to have/show the combat stats like a ranged/melee weapon once DC hits anyway?

You've been a great champion of this particular point, AO...which is one of the reasons that I push so hard on it. I totally agree that it makes no sense forus to have to operate in such a strange system. Weaponsmith's don't have to deal with all this "Combat Rating" business...

However, now that they have "settled", the final stats need to display on the deeds, unquestionably. Even if they have to make it dynamic in case it does change again.

Combat decay seems to be fine so far. I think many of us are more concerned about 'utility decay'. THAT is the system that we need to get in place, methinks.

Yea, you may have noted that I suggest moving only the EMMs and EGPs to the Novice DE box. I don't think we're going to totally erase our dependence to MA. However, moving those two should be sufficient to end the MA dependence thing, I think.

Hmm... droid decay... well, we know they have a system in place for taking an object "apart" and replacing it's components (the new lightsabers for example), and we also know that they've talked about having replaceable components in vehicles, why not the same for droids? Okay, so maybe your droid doesn't die, but it's medical module wears out, or it takes a hit in combat and needs a new motive system, or someone just wants a different module installed. A DE can simply pop the chassis open (upon consent) and replace the needed components. Setup something like the ID's have so the customer can see what's being changed and yes/no it, handle secure payment etc...

Didn't read all the comment yet, must sleep, but,

Customization / Decoration

Big big big unfun on this : color lifespan. waste it really. Besides, people seeing initial lifespan to 20 don't even think of buying custom kit.

No fun in that.

As a customer said to me (a musician) : "I would rather pay you 25K for colors that stick than buy customization kit".

Great job TK, but I do think you need to make the dev's make the compaison to level 10 BE droids more.
