Personally I think I went up to blueprints 2, then got to level 2 of the branch with modules in it (sorry, can't remember the branch name). Then I went back and did blueprints till lvl 4, then modules, then equally shared between the middle two branches.

Pick a combat prof.
Run missions.
Buy harevester.
Put harvester.
Raise your combat skill and do mission while waiting for the harvest.
Grind.
Honestly, I hate grinding, badly, but DE is not doable without grind.
If you wanna do without too much grinding and make money, raise blueprint first, to level 2.
This way you'll have model people want.
Then raise to have usefull module where quality of ressource is not important : medic, storage, crafting station, entertainer.
Then you can make some low level droids and sell them, even on the bazaar.
Sell cheap at the beginning, you need the money to go in, and profit is not the reason you sell.
Also, if you don't wanna fight to get money at the beginning, remember you should be an artisan too.
Power up and batteries can give some money.
Clothes too.
Except that, if you want money faster, best way still to harvest good ressources and sell them.
Doing half harvester on grinding ressource and half on good one to sell for money is doable.
Also, as said earlier, meat sell at very high price.
