Based upon some of the interviews that took place after the recent demos, I think we will all be dissappointed in the Space Expansion. What we will get will most likely be as follows:

1. There will be a "Vehicle Crafter" class added to the game. This class will make spaceships and some new vehicle types.
2. We will all be able to buy these ships from VCs. I'd bet that we will all be able to only have one in out datapad at a time.
3. Yep, you read that right, they will be stored in your datapad just like your droids and vehicles.
4. When you "generate" your spaceship, you will be transported to "space". This will be like being outside on a planet and will include random and static spawns. Think of it like walking around on another planet and you'll get what I'm talking about. Think of other planets like cities on this new planet.
5. When you are "in" your spaceship, it will become your avatar. Different ship types will have different combat capabilities and speeds.
6. When you get to another planet, you will store your spaceship and appear in the spaceport.

Doesn't this sound like the work of this dev team?

Regarding # 5...

If my avatar is my ship...will I be able to perform /emotes with my ship?

/sarcasm off

Do we care? Space is at least a year away. They havent even mentioned anything about it.

By that time World of Warcraft will probably be out (they go into beta within the next month probably). Whose going to continue this sub-par game when blizzard who has never failed making a fun game releases their MMORPG.

Taken from Gamespy...

As Kaplan fired up the game and ran me through the character creation process, he went on about Blizzard's gaming philosophy and how they're specifically applying it to World of Warcraft. Apparently, according to Kaplan, Blizzard's game philosophy has always been that it's all about the player experience, not the designer's ego. Throughout the development process of any of their titles, they're constantly asking themselves the same questions: 'Am I having fun now?' 'Am I getting angry at the game?' 'Am I bored and watching the clock?' In World of Warcraft's case it's, 'Am I just grinding experience levels?'

If only SOE would ask themselves those questions.

Space expansion was scheduled for the first quarter of 2004, but has been pushed back to july 1st. It remains to be seen whether it will be pushed back even more. /shrug. It probably will.
