There was some research over on the SWGCraft.com forums about a month or two back about this. From what the others could tell, the base for a zero rated station is equivalent to a +25 home station and then there's a one to one point correspondance from there. I used to have a link to the article, but when they changed from gamespy to the new location, they all went dead, so you'll have to check for yourself

For anecdotal evidence, I made a structure station for an architect, rated at -2 and he said he was getting better results (less crits, more good/great) compared to his +5 home station.

I asked a customer to test his new droid against his house's station, making 20 products of anything on each and comparing. He noted everything down and simply put... no difference, maybe if he created 100 we could see a pattern, but he couldn't tell if the house's was better or not.

So, we simply don't know, for all we know, a droid's could be better... or not.

Just to really confuse you all.. I have been doing testing for a Master Architect over the last month or so... and overall the figures I have tend to indicate that I get a better overall result from my DROID (+4 rating) compared to the private station (+32 rating).

When I say overall better result: more great successes, and less fails, good or moderate successes.

Bear in mind that your success level and critical failure rates do correlate with the malleability of the resources you are using, although the exact formula eludes everyone.

My overall opinion: rating is borked.. use your droid and be happy with it
