Thread: REQUIRED READING: Centralized Droid Issues (28/08/03 12:00am PST)
Very nice...
Just a few things..
On Wish list Item L and Item W are out of date.
They have told us they are going to add a ton more combat droids and asked us which kinds we want.
This thread talks about the kinds we want. Reference this thread or add these to the wishlist.

Here is a paste of some of the combat droids that could be implemented including droidekas.

There has also been talk about an elite elite profession Combat Droid Engineer that could make all these combat droids and have the certs for them as well.
In my opinion the combat DE profession is a good idea. Let them make the droids and have certs to use most if not all of them. Then give certs to advanced combat professions for certain types of them.
BH - Assasin droids
Commando - Grenade like one shot suicide droids
Smuggler - Slicing droid - or make a slicing module
etc..
Good LORD you guys are FUBAR'd .
MY GOD . That list of problems is longer than the abilities granted in many professions . I really feel for you guys and it is my wish that you get some HARD and substantiated improvements made to your profession SOON .
Best of luck guys
Jon
My wish is to Sticky the original post and then start a new thread for responses. I kinda get lost when every one posts to the ongoing issues.
I am not saying that I do not like these posts, In fact just the oposite, I wish to continue these posts and replies to certain tasks that a DE can do to test some of the uncertains or new features. I just get confused when they are together in the same post.
If there is a way that we can keep a Topic - Required reading. Then keep it sticked, Can you lock a thread and have the moderator Edit the thread to keep it updated?
Why can't we keep this thread locked and have our correspondents add to it as updates happen, so that way we have one thread to review and another one to reply with our test results or findings..
Just a thought and btw everyone is doing a great job on keeping me informed..
BUGS:
F.Experimentation on droid parts has no noticeable effect on final droid (experimentation seems to alter the part quality, but no end effect is observed). Resources also fall into this area since resource properties influence the experimental property values. There is no point to experiment either on droid components or the final product. The droids seem to all function about the same.
When crafting the droid it seems experimentation has some effect - occasionally the HAM bars on the deed will be higher than the tamed product, and the attack speed and damage rating in parenthasis are different as well. I can't be completely sure that this is due to experimentation, as I don't have that line yet (as it is worthless - stated in the list) so I can't test it very well. It is the only logical explanation I can think of. And then there is the mechanism quality of most parts that stays at negative numbers, but varies as well.
Q.Medical modulesaffect the effectiveness of stimpacks. Reports say that a stimpack is more effective when a medical module-equipped droid is nowhere to be seen.
This is just a case of the medical rating effecting the stims as well - from what I hear from medics the medical rating is a percentage of how well they heal wounds with a droid compared to a medical center. If I remember correctly:
L1 = 55
L2 = 65
L3 = 75
L4 = 85
from here I haven't been able to make the rest yet, but assuming a linear progression that makes L5 at 95 and L6 at 105% - So a droid with a L6 medical module would heal BETTER than a med center, making stims actually heal more.
UNCERTAINTIES
J.Many of the 'level' based service modules stack. However, there arecaps in place which make stacking kind of pointless with thehigher level modules. Also,by stacking lower modules, you can achieve the same effect as a higher level module, reducing the point of using a higher level module. This is further enchanced by the cluster module bug. Also, when crafting the droid, the stacking results show values which do not take the cap into consideration. So a droid while being crafted can show a storage value of 15, but the final storage when the droid is tamed is capped at 10.
Just as a reference, it seems that all modules will cap slightly higher than the L6 versions when stacked, again assuming a certain progression scheme. Storage caps at 10 as mentioned before, and medical modules cap at 110. I'm not able to make L6 module versions yet, so please correct me if I am wrong on the theoretical L6 numbers. Stacking makes things more interesting I think, as long as one actually obeys the module limitation rules. If somebody exploits that, then of course there is no point because they can place 10 L1 storage modules and hit the cap.
I kind of like the idea of elite-elite professions. HOWEVER - there needs to be some different system, or more skill points added.
I currently favor the idea of adding elite-elite skill points, seperate from the normal point system that can only be applied to elite-elite professions - thus still limiting the amount of skills you can take, but does not limit you to one elite-elite profession, nor takes away from your ability to diversify in the basic professions. Possibly just enough points to master one elite-elite tree, which gives you the option to master one tree, or spread the points out to multiple elite-elite trees - again, more diversification.
Of course this is only my idea, I don't know if it has been discussed before...

Slight correction -
The tamed product is still basically the same as most others, but occasionaly theto-hit value(as opposed to attack speed) will sometimes be higher.
I really like your suggestion about the protocol droid, Raystonn. It corresponds nicely with wishlist "H".
An addition I'd like to see on the wishlist is "world persistent" droids. Emancipate our droids from the datapad!
Agreed. In Star Wars, droids are autonomous creations that perform menial tasks with or without their master being present. In SWG,the roles are very much reversed.It feels as if the droid is the master, who may be present or not, and the player is performing the menial tasks. What's wrong with this picture?
Droids should by like any other NPC, with the sole exceptions being 1) they take orders from their master, 2) it is loaded by the game just like structures after a server reboot and continue with their last orders.

Although it would not make droids directly 'persistant,' my personal sugestion is to ask the devs to modify the "deed 3D model" to match the droid. In other words, whena droid is dropped in a house, it looks like a droid. if it's moving the way the ADV frames move, so much the better. This little visual effect would go a long way, especially if we can convince them to let (at least DE's) redeed droids. And for shop owners, would be more interesting to have several kinds of droids sitting stationary in the shop. Add to that, in the bazaar, droids would look like their final product rather then a deed.
In effect, make droid deeds work on the same principals as BE craftable pets.. showing the droids final aprarence rather then the deed model.
And of course, once names can have numbers *crossing fingers* we DE's should be able to name the droid "out of the box." The owner could then assign a nickname if they like, but the official designation (read: name) of the droid should be determined at the time of creation and remain persistant throughout the droids lifespan.
Look at your post number 666 lol good post hehe and good luck!
Ok I'm not a droid engineer but I think this is the best place to post this. I bought a droid about a week after the game opened. It died after the patch a week or so ago. I am not happy. Didn't C3PO get torn limb from limb and get put back together. R2D2 got blaster by a Tie Figher and lived. I will miss my droid. I did go out and bought a new one. It died too. I will not buy any more droids.
Dissatisfied Customer
Droids now auto-store when taking the shuttle. I think this is worse than it was before when the droids were left behind, since we no longer have the option of leaving the pets behind. My droid, patrolling my house, 1.2KM from the shuttle port, is now automatically stored when I travel.
I'd prefer it if the droids were left behind. If people want to take their pets with them, they should store them. Alternatively, the auto-store should only work if the droid is within 10 meters, or some other limit, from the player.
Yea it's best not to disagree with anything that the devs do when it was something that they got off the player forums. When they pay attention to something you ask for don't complain for at least a few weeks.
