This makes absolutly no sence whatsoever. What is the point ofDE if a COMBAT class can sell the same pets as you and have great pve combat skills for nearly the same cost? This game is revolving around the creature pets right now and Its going to be revolving around those same pets after the DE fix.

It seems like, for who knows what reasons, the CH profession has been granted Most Favored Profession Status with the folks at SOE. Nevermind of course that the power of CH not only devalues droid offerings, but also devalues the real combat classes of the game, withoutcontributing any "Star Warsiness" to the SWG experience. Pistoleers, rifelmen, and carbiners firing off their energy weapons with those nice Star Wars-esque sound effects is several degrees of magnitude more emersive than someone spamming "a" to control giant turtles and apes.

Heaven forbid if CH's were ever devalued to the benefit of those professions that can make this game feel more like Star Wars and less like Zoo Tycoon.

Mundane servant droids? Says who? I wanna see droids that take on the roles of those in Knights of the old Republic, i wana see:

1) Assault droids (look like storm troopers, carry laser rifles [could be dumbed down to an e-11])

2) Melee droids

3) Hovering sentry droids (security, have dual pistols, or something small like that)

4) Assassin droids (take a wild guess)

5) Slicing boosting droids (T3-M4)

6) Droids that locate resources (wouldn't have to find the maximum spot, but just locate a random resource patch above a certain percent)

These are just a few of the possiblities! DE does indeed have the most potential!

We aren't screaming simply because we are hoarse from all the previous screaming...our tear ducts have imploded....our souls have been ripped from our bodies and used to wipe a Hutt's behind....we are all bald....

A few of us play with our Star Wars Droid Factory (tm) playset and mumble incoherently as our loved ones watch through the one-way glass.....

Need I go on?

In a perfect world I would say we do not need combat droids of any flavor just give us a wide range of useful/wanted non combat enhancing abilities to put into droids.

The problem is the devs have taken what 5 months and still have not gotten the non combat things we have working 100% yet. Look at data mods at the moment they are utterly useless and the devs have even stated that at the moment they are basically obsolete. Until the patch on test we have never been able to put more than one crafting station into a droid without breaking them. The repair module which only heals black wounds and only on droids other than the one it is installed on. The power droid that itself needs a battery if you are foolish enough to recharge another droid with it. The list goes on.

Due to the above I have 0 confidence in the devs ability to make useful non combat mods. Non combat mods are tough. It is hard to give people bonuses that would not be A) to strong B) imperceptible and pointless.

I and many other de have started to ask for Combat droids mainly because it is likely something the devs can do and make it work. Combat is a much easier thing to balance and much easier to get functional get a basic chassis, armor mods, weapon mods, maybe personality and go. The biggest tricksy part about them is whether only DE could use them or some kind of cert system so others can use them as well.

Eventually I am sure more non combat stuff will be implemented but for now I would bet you will only see combat droids and some tweaks as they would be the fastest thing to implement, likely to work, likely to be looked on favorably by a large percentage of the populace. In effect combat droids are a juicy bone to get DE off their back so they can do more at a later date.

The DEVs have recently stated that their priorities have changed significantly with the upcoming release of vehicles. My interpretation of their priorities is that when they released the game they wanted to finish the stuff they were already working on (i.e. mounts, vehicles, player cities) before they started doing any major balancing.

Regardless of whether or not that was the right thing to do, I forsee a noticeable amount of time being freed up for the DEVs to start working on things exactly like non-combat droids. But what I am increasingly hearing from the DE community is, "at least give us some more combat droids." Are we really going to settle for that? After all the really really GREAT discussions on droids that do things besides combat? Are we just going to give up, craft a couple DE-only droidekas and pretend all is well with the world?

I, for one, am not going to be pacified with combat droids. I'll concede that it's a good first step because it will appease the squeakiest wheels of the community, but in the long run much more needs to be done. It sounds as though the DEVs are putting the major projects behind them now and will start focusing on the"long run" type of issues. Please don't let them get away with a band-aid fix when there's so much more potential.
