They said they are finnally going to fix de. However, thier fix, that ive seen is giving de pets that rival the lvl 10 non-ch pets that are going to be used by non-ch after this upcoming patch.

There is only a 14 skillpoint difference between Master Ch and Master De. You are both going to be able to sell the same lvl pets that are roughly equivilant to eachother. Yet they are also going to have leet pve combat skills. This makes absolutly no sence whatsoever. What is the point ofDE if a COMBAT class can sell the same pets as you and have great pve combat skills for nearly the same cost? This game is revolving around the creature pets right now and Its going to be revolving around those same pets after the DE fix.

Am I missing some ability that you guys are getting or already have? Or has it always been this grim and I just didnt realize it until today?

It's ALWAYS been grim, always.

We hang on for several reasons, the primary uniting thread being "droids are cool".

Oh yes, and the December fix is only part one of an undisclosed multi-month plan.

So are there going to be mini armies of droids coming out soon? or just 1 lvl 10 probot per non de?

No one really knows what is going on, maybe not even the DEVs, but in the next patch, DEs are supposed to be getting some lovin finally. I have 3 full time alts on TC and have seen some of the changes that the BEs have gotten in this up coming publish and it bringsa bit of renewed faith that Droids will be getting a proper shine.

The DL10 Probot, currently on TC, is a slight improvement over the one currently on Live, but its the changes to non-CH pet users that shows the most promise. A fully armored Probot can now own any non-CH pet, in uninterupted combat. The only thing that CL10 pets have going for them now, besides a bit more damage power, is the ablity to heal them, but when the new combat droids are added, as hinted in the post made by Thunderheart, that advantage will be removed as well.

Even Novice CHs, without any skill boxes, can't call upon a better pet than a fully armored Probot, as a tank.

DE's are supposed to get updates in Jan and Feb, which is getting close. No one really knows what these updates are, but it hopefully revolves around fixing the goofy brokeness of the module cluster stacking, non-droid differentation, and supposedly getting more combat type droids in game. We have been broke a long time and we HAVE been screaming for a long time. After last months publish, I think the devs had about enough of the few DE's that are left ranting and decided to put us to the forefront and actually do something.

TAKE STOCK DE'S- HAVE FAITH!

Even though the low and quite possible mid-level combat droids may not be as effective tankers as pets...are you seriously telling me that over half the people in this game wouldn't trade in thier rock bettle for a Roger Roger droid?

I have absolute faith that even though our low and mid level combat droids will not be 100% as dangerous as pets of the same class, people will still want them. And those other new droids we're supposed to be getting that will have new functions.

And best of all...

our MASTER DE droid exclusive combat droid....(can anyone say Droidikea?) will be able to knock the stuffing out of a rancor....I belive it!

If the devs do us justice......which call me a hopeless romantic....but i think they will...our Droidikea will have massive heavy armor resists and hit points rival to that of an ATST and just as much firepower. Why would they let us have something that powerful? Why wouldn't they nerf it like they did the ATST? Cause unlike that, everyone can own one and the whiny rebels won't have any argument to have them nerfed.

Sorry to go against the grain here, but there's more to SWG than combat. Personally I'd like to see more time spent making droids useful to those other aspects of the game than creating combat droids.

My reasoning for this? The DEVs have basically stated that they will not devalue CH by creating combat droids that out-match non-CH creatures. If they did, everyone would want droids and no one would want creatures (not that that's REALLY a bad thing, but try to see the DEVs perspective here). It would also decrease the interest in CH, because it removes part of the reason for leveling up in that class.

My next point is that giving DEs a DE-only combat droid just seems silly to me. Combat and Crafting are separate systems in the game, and to me, they are separate character traits. Granted, a lot of crafters also do a lot of combat (I'm a fencer and rifleman) but some-to-most are only interested in the crafting and economy part of the game. If you make the end-game prize for mastering DE a combat tool, how does that appeal to those folks that simply want to sell their droids?

That being said, there are other ways for droids to be helpful in combat besides being muscle. Shield droids, droids that cloak or hide their owner, droids that have limited healing abilities, etc. To me those would be very marketable without stepping on the toes of our CH friends.

I'm not saying that I have the perfect solution here, I'm just offering up my opinion. I'm sure an aweful lot of you disagree, but I guess I'm just saying that if DE turns in to a combat class I'll be a little disappointed...

And having a Rancor with no combat skills IS a good thing then? A lot of the MCH's have no combat skills at all. They just have the pets do the work. If you look at it this way the CH class and the DE class are almost identical except we have no viable fighting droids to use.

Also, read on TC that bio-engineers are going to be able to make non-CH pets pretty **edit** nice. They can already give them 40% resists to damage, and a bit more tinkering will get the armor back into them as well. DE's still suck and we need a huge boost. If combat droids are the easiest way to do it, so be it. I am all for making more interesting non-combat droids, but it doesn't sound like an easy thing to do and I don't think the Dev's will devote that kind of time into making that a reality.

I see your point, but I've always seen CH as a combat class. The only reason to have a pet (besides RP reasons) is for combat. Droids have (or rather, should have) far more uses than simply combat. That's all I was trying to say.

I think the ability that we already have is to make droids that are useful for things other than combat. I know some people may not believe it but there are more things than combat to the game. Even if our probots are exactly equal to a non-CH pet, I don't think I've ever seen a creature that can store items, or with a built in crafting station. This is our primary market and primary business (as it should be in my opinion). This is what makes our droids more valuable than non-ch pets. The point of DE is not to be powerful in combat (if you want that you pick up a combat profession, thats how the system works) and combat pets are not the only things we sell. Do we have bugs and problems that need fixed? yes. Do CH's have anything to do with it? not really, or at least, not after this patch (probots will be a bit better than non-CH pets since it seems armor isn't really calculated into their CL).

I see combat droids as a START of the fixes.. Not the end becuase non combat droids touch more systems and would take more time to code/debug/test/implement..
