So you're saying the main diff between me and those backing out is that I am willing to wait 6 more months at least until I see improvements...

I guess you may be right there. I am more than willing to wait! Until then I'm still running quests (Badgefor theHero of Tatooine, currently) and just going all over seeing everything there is to see. I still have my DE on the whole time. I still sell droids, and I'm still having fun doing so.

sadly, i think my sentiments echo a LOT of other master De's. DE is a unique crafting profession, its much more personable than say weaponsmithing. but honestly as a crafter, a steady income is needed. DE did pay the bills, and allow me to master weaponsmith free of charge, but i just saw the lack of attention this profession is getting. realistically, lets take a look at the updates that we have gotten as des:

1st patch:

- they fixed certain modules. this is NOT a so-called update, there is NO reason these modules shouldn't have been working in the first place.

-they took personality chips out of non-humanoid droids. to be honest, people LIKED talking r2 units

- they put in perma-death for probots

a. added note - probots were nerfed to below a novice CH creature. now that armor is back, they are a bit more formiddible. but still pretty lousey if you ask me. for artisans checking harvesters, probots ARE a good buy. for a combat character, not even close

2nd patch:

- the took perma death away.

_______________________________

basically, they have fixed a few things that should have been working in the beginning. and after all the beta testing, it took them that much time, plus a couple weeks to decide that 3150HAM 130 damage probots were too strong?

the devs have given zero attention to a profession that SHOULD NOT have been released with the inception of the game. any DE that says otherwise is not thinging straight. a Novice DE with a few of his other trees built up, can produce the same stats on an R2 unit that a master can. with stacking modules, and general socket clusters, it basically makes Master DE worthless. i mean...how many protocols can one sell. that is a masters biggest sale. i will say this, people love protocols. i was selling protocols with just personality chips for 20-25k before i could even put one useful mod in them. whatever i stocked, people bought.

i will continue to post here, this was my 1st profession, and i am going to be watching to see if they ever decide to fix our profession.

It was only a matter of time, really. Everyone has their limit as far as how much patience they can exhibit.

Playing the game is like playing the stock market. It's gambling pure and simple. It's rough to throw away all that you invested, but if you stick with it it could just be compounded to end up worse and worse. Sometimes you have to give up and try different options.

I haven't surrendered my skills yet because I haven't decided on a different profession. But as I grow elsewhere, I'll slowly undo DE to make room for those other skills. That way it will slowly go away from me, instead of one fell swoop.

It's sad to see ya go, I'll still send you my regular mailings of what I need as far as ore goes, and any thing important going on with me. Frito, hope to not see you leave too, but I understand. I actually love the DE profession, but as ya'll know I only craft on a personal level. I only craft on contract and I only store back log of ore and precrafted components to help speed up my droid building time. I have a lot of dedicated customers and they appreciate the time and work I put into my craft. I think the difference between me and others and why I enjoy the profession vs. dread it has to do with my pay style. I only craft an hour or 2 a day depending on my droid order backlog, but I rarely have more than 10 customers on the backlog and I end up knowing them all on a personal friend relationship by time its over and we talk regularly besides just about droid stuff, hehe. I am just saying my advice is to all of us unsatisfied DE's is to simply take pride in your work, don't try to run your crafting as a true business, get to know your customers and become friends with em. Believe me, crafting for friends is alot better than crafting for the masses.

I havent quit yet but I have closed my shop, banked my inventory and re-deeded my harvestors and storage house. I rarely login either. I am lucky I suppose. I can afford to get a second account so I dont have to surrender DE to at least explore other options.

I suppose I am stubborn. I wont give in yet only because I invested too much already. Its like a bad relationship you have had for over a year ... do you keep busting your ass trying to make it work or give in an throw away the work you have done so far?

Ah well. I hope you find happiness in another career!

Sadly, I'm almost to that point myself. I've got all these points tied up in Master Artisan and Master DE, and nobody wants to buy any droids other than an occasional R unit to put a crafting station in.

Meanwhile, I've got enough xp to level up in some Pistoleer, Marksman, Scout, and Medic skills and pick up Creature Handler to boot, but no more skill points to do it. It would just be so much easier to make cash just doing normal missions than selling an R unitto a crafter every couple days. (and easier to survive those missions with some of the skill trees from the professions I listed)

I actually put down 10 harvesters on a spot of fiberplast yesterday so I can save some up. After I get a bunch of fiberplast, I'll start hoarding steel. That way, if I do end up giving up DE before the devs do one of the many changes they keep promising (new combat droids, certifications, fixing /customizedroid, etc), I'll have some steel and fiberplast ready to grind with should I want to pick DE back up later. Sadly, we've been hearing about these changes for weeks now and haven't seen anything yet, so I may end up having to give up DE and grinding to get it back later.

I really don't want to give up DE, but I'd rather give that up and have fun playing other parts of the game than give up the game entirely.

the sad thing is if i ever decide, DE is a good thing to come back to...i could master the profession in 8-10 hours of grinding time. sorta sad when thats the case.

Well looks like people are coming to the conclusion I came to almost a month ago. The fact is our proffessions is a severed hand with a bandaid on it. When I was a novice I was gunho when it came to droid making even tho I knew that droids were not working correctly. 3 weeks after becoming Master I got fed up of all the nerfs and non fixes thatI decided to start hoarding materials for retirement. Why hoarde materials just to retire. I did it in hopes that if our proffession was fixed within a reasonable lvl I would open my shop back up and lay my factories back down. Sinceretirement Imastered pistol stances and I am doing random quests to pass time and have some fun. Face it our proffessionwasn't thought throughand has more bugs then the Rebel theme park.Till it is fixed I will not make droids for anyone but friends and guildies.

Yes, again another post the Devs will not respond to. Another good post with good intentions made by a person that cares enough about SWG to take time away from the game to post.

One person is all it would take to make hundreds of people feel better, to inspire hope for their beloved class. One person to take 3 minutes of typing time to tell us whats happening. One person, Sony. One person LucasArts. Just one person, in this specific situation, CAN make a difference. One person.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

Still here, and still a DE. Although to be honest, lately I've had a few thoughts of giving it up, but I love being a DE. It's what I wanted since the game went Live. Glutton for punishment I suppose. I still havnt quite made it to Master, since I saw how messed up things were early on, and have just been taking my time doing a (very) slow grind. Heck, there are days in a row where I don't make a single droid component.

I've seen Master DE's come and go. Lately though, on Tatooine inRadiant anyway, I've seen quite a few new novices running around, asking me questions, asking for advice, and of course asking for (free) training. Today for instance, usually when I do a search my name is the only one that comes up, I actually had 5 different people with the DE titles come up. I was amazed.

The only reason i can think this is happening is because of the promise of future combat droids. I am unsure whether to be pleased or not. On the one hand it's good seeing new DE's, on the other hand I'd hate for this profession to become a "flavor of the month" like what's happened with Ch and now Commando. Ideally I want people in the profession who truly enjoy it, not ones who just want to make a quick fortune when Combat droids are released. Wishfull thinking on my part eh, lol.

I wasn't a master De(only because I didn't see the point in working on a dead profession)but i quit the game this weekend myself. I am just tired of game designers constantly putting out broken games before they are ready and charging people money to play there broken product. This is like the only industry that gets away with this crap. We have become so used to it that we expect it to happen and almost don't even mind when they perform there mad experiments on us.
