I dont think it has ever been lack of want or desire on the development team, I started to think and read thru all the various ideas that have been posted on fixes etc.

Unfortunatly everything that is suggested does affect the over all game play, something as simple as a power droid has dinamic ramifications to economy etc.

I think a fix and some neat things are coming, i think there is a huge desire by soe to have the droid prof be very visable in there game, i also believe it will be a VERY slow process.

The main thing soe needs to do is to communicate with the community, in that they have miserably failed in the past.

I surrendored DE because i think it will be over a year away before they get it to a point were it is fun to play again. But my heart and thoughts will always be with the community. I am even thinking of taking it back up with my twink politician for that some day.

I still believe the ball is in there court in communicating issues etc with this community, which to date they still have not done. Hopefully that will imporve very soon.

Best of Luck

While I tend to agree that more constructive, positive posts here will foster better Dev communication, there really isn't any hard evidence to back that up. These boards, save the last month and a half or so, have been generally constructive and passionate about droids. We haven't gotten much feedback either way. I'll do my part to be positive and non-ranty, but seriously, if the Devs would extend an olive branch here and give us some idea of what's coming (other than the generalistic "more level 10 combat droids" or "more utility") we'd all feel better and we'd at least have something to debate constructively.

Remember TH, the "communication link" between us and the Devs, stated that we wanted the DH class. The link obviously wasn't working correctly, but I'm willing to give them one more chance....

This makes no sense to me. When I first started DE, this was a very energetic and constructive community. The devs told you nothing. Things turned sour and ... the devs told you nothing. Sounds like somebody got a little insulted that others decided to call them out on their BS statements and promises. Sounds like someone didn't appreciate anyone asking him questions out of turn.

But, you seem like a smart guy, Doughbacca. You are obviously privy to information that concludes a direct relationship between the quality of the planned DE fixes and how well this community behaves. So I'll trust you. No more negativity from me. This post was my parting shot.

I changed mine to the droid repair pack message from Holocron.... JustG made an effort to clear his message, so I wiped the slate on my end.

The droid repair pack is still vital to the future of the profession and CL10 droids. I am going to keep this in my signature to continue to raise awareness of this serious issue, it is not meant to be inflammatory.

Pressure can still be applied.... if it's strategic, tactful, and warranted.

In my recent stint as an off-duty DE (read: I went holo-grinding for awhile), I had occassion to use my Probot a TON.

This did two really good things:

1) It put me in the mind of me DE clients. I would very much suggest that you DEs that need something to do take the time to go out and use your 'product' they way a client would. You will be able to speak far better to their capabilities having first hand knowledge. Seriously...........................do this. It helps.

2) Made me understand that we can actually forego some higher-level combat droid changes if only we can get the ability to repair our 'pets' in combat.

Note: I was a Master Medic and Master CM, so I was healing creature pets left and right. That made a HUGE difference, since you could actually keep a creature around to fight. Having to store a dead Probot for a good long time, just to get back to full HAM, is about the single largest combat-related issue that I think we face right now.

There has never been a tool or feature that has allowed us to heal white HAM damage to droids. This really needs to be quite high on the list of things that I think need to happen in Publish 7.

Really, really.

I don't know about evidence of the past...that's why I called for a memory wipe. I'm really asking that DEs take my word on this on faith (and that I don't get painted as fool if it turns out that you're right).

I understand your trepidation. Believe me, NO ONE has ranted more or harder on these forums (in relation to DEs and droid 'stuff')...and I know that you all know that to be the case.

If I can be an ambassador....so be it. I take my position in the DEA and DENet seriously, such as it is, and feel like this is an excellent time to really 'fill the tank'.

I know you're running on empty, duncje. I guess I'm just requesting respectfully that you do your best to give yourself a battery recharge.

These boards, save the last month and a half or so, have been generally constructive and passionate about droids.

Absolutely. The DE forums fromlaunch until early Jan. were awash with positive and constructive ideas and players. It can be that wayagain...and will have to be, if we all want the communication that we so fervently say that we want.

If we want it, we have to get back to doing our part.

Am I putting myself'out there' by making this call? Yea....maybe a bit. But I trust what Inow know and can only ask thatothers do their best to help this forum return to its past glory.

We haven't gotten much feedback either way.

This has always been my primary beef. However, I'm pretty sure that my passion really clouded my judgement on what was realistic and feasible. Do we all want better communication...well, yea! Duh! But, I don't think it's realistic that we can get as much as we'd all like to get. I can only submit that this is the nature of the development 'beast' with MMOs. It's also important to keep in mind that we are but one profession in many. There's enough to work to go around for all players.

The difference.......now is our time. So, let's try to 'play nice'. It matters.

I'll do my part to be positive and non-ranty, but seriously, if the Devs would extend an olive branch here and give us some idea of what's coming (other than the generalistic "more level 10 combat droids" or "more utility") we'd all feel better and we'd at least have something to debate constructively.

Note: Olive branch requisition form has been filled out in triplicate and forwarded to the proper authorities for review and approval.

Remember TH, the "communication link" between us and the Devs, stated that we wanted the DH class. The link obviously wasn't working correctly, but I'm willing to give them one more chance....

Let's not haunt TH too badly. He does have a pretty unbelievable rock to push up the hill.

Exactly..... Precisely... Right on target!!

I've been harping on this forever... Probots are very, very, very good pets if we could only heal them; some might even say the best CL10 pet (I tend to believe this). They're artifically "inferior" because we simply cannot heal the white bar.

We should crusade on this, people.

Yea...I remember those days. I want to get back to those days...like yesterday.

Seriously, it's not that hard. I'd have to say that a big aspect of this is that we DEs (that are in it for the love of droids) need to keep in mind that we will never likely see droids be what we all want in this game. It's just not feasible in a product/service of this kind. There are too many technology issues out of SOE's control (or just too time-intensive to code) to provide what we all want droids to be.

So...setting realistic expectations of what can or cannot happen, and linking that into how we post, is crucial.

If we ask them to go a mile for us but they can only go a few hundreds meters (for now), we need to try to positively and constructively embrace what's put forth in an upbeat manner.

The devs told you nothing. Things turned sour and ... the devs told you nothing. Sounds like somebody got a little insulted that others decided to call them out on their BS statements and promises. Sounds like someone didn't appreciate anyone asking him questions out of turn.

Well...to be fair...

What would happen if Devs responded to healthy, intelligent (but well-meanting) 'ranty' posts? People would start spamming them like mad, thinking that THAT was the way to get 'the goods'.

Do you think that is the way we should do it? It certainly hasn't worked.

We all want this profession to be better and for droids to be more cool. The Devs are going to likely only focus on posts/threads that really do lead us closer to that goal. That means constructive and positive....

But, you seem like a smart guy, Doughbacca. You are obviously privy to information that concludes a direct relationship between the quality of the planned DE fixes and how well this community behaves.

Actually...you're a bit off there. The qualityof the fixes may well not matter with regard tohow DEs here communicate. We could rant and rant and they'd still work on us. What IS linked is the quality and postive nature of our posts and the possibility of healthier, serious andfundiscussion/debate with the Devs on how the future will unfold.

So I'll trust you. No more negativity from me. This post was my parting shot.

We are all taking a leap of faith on this one. Thanks for jumping.

OK, I'll throw in my 1.742 credits.

I too would like to see the forum go back to the very constructive nature it had earlier in the game.

But for this to happen, the devs have to post more than two sentance posts, saying, give us more time. As was stated earlier, they have to lay out some foundations for us to construct on.

We hear that droids can't buff abilities, so to speak, so what kind of utility droids are they looking for?

The ball is, and has been for quite some time, in the Dev's court.

I am sure that once the devs give us something to work with, something substantial, you'll see a change for the positive.

PS: I use my own droids all the time, with both my main and my alt

Thanks for the nod. It will help a ton if you stick around and be a positive force on the DE boards. I encourage all DEA and DENet members to do the same.

Before long, we'll have our next inter-server DEA meeting and should have something(s) to discuss.

Sketh,

This is an extremely valid and important point.

However, where we sometimes fall short is that we allow the forum to delve into 'rant mode' in the absense of Dev posts. It didn't used to be that way.

I suspect it happens more now due to the fact that so many now know we are supposed to be the focus. This means they already have a hyped up expectation on the amount of info we will get.

I would caution everyone not to set their sights overly high or unrealistic. That's just setting yourself up for frustration and does no one any good (especially you).

I think a big step in getting more positive is seeing out top 10 questions answered in a meaningful and detailed way. I read some of the other professions Q&A's and wasn't overwhelmed by the responses. If we can get detailed answers on our top 10, I think it would put our brains more at rest and generate more positive feedback. Where are they anyway?
