Thread: Seeker droid exploit
Heh heh... maybe I should spend some time on the other forums... for all I know, Chefs are able to use BLL's to get free milk.... ![]()
Well, I still have many crates of seekers and probes on both my vendors, and at a pretty low price. I remember how upset the BH's were when DE's got to make the seekers and probes, and set my prices to assist that community.
Some of the BH responses were indeed quite cool - others, well, were not. I read your post, Rho, and couldn't have said it better myself. As I do like to sell droids, and post here under my own in game name, I am not going to stir the pot on the BH forum....

Now there is an idea with merit! I see sales skyrocketting!
Yeah, it would be a real cash cow...

Give it some lovin' DEs.
I don't understand any of this.
I use arakyd probes and seekers a lot, and they do not suffer from this bug at all. I'm burning through my crates at a decent clip, and will need more very soon.
Let's not tar everyone with the same brush, eh?

You will notice that my posts and Rho's posts in the BH forum are careful not to be inflamitory, nor do we say that everyone does this.
This is NOT a flame, nor is it a spray-paint job.
However, there are some people doing this.
What, exactly, are they "doing"? The impression I got is that some of the stacks are bugged. I don't think they're doing anything to intentionally cause those stacks to become that way, though I might have missed a post.
Hopefully they'll get this one under control soon.
I'm no BH, so if I get the details wrong, I apologize.
It sounds to me as though at Investigation 3, a new capability opens up for use of the Seekers. It seems to be something like 'seek and track' instead of simply 'seek'. Again, I'm no BH so forgive my terminology. Anyway, I think that it's this additional capability that refuses to use the last charge (any charge?) of the seeker.
That's what I gather, too.
I guess what I'm saying is that without using the "seek and track" function, you can't seek and track.
It's the intended use of the droid at that Investigation level.
The insinuation that I'm getting from some people is that some BHs are intentionally doing something to cause the seekers to malfunction, thus exploiting. All I'm getting at is that it's just a bug. The droids aren'tbehaving properly when used in the proper, intended fashion.
I just want to avoid any ill will cropping up between the classes, when I think it's more important to be watching each other's backs in the current climate.
Well Taurin just posted overon the BH forumsaying he would "get right on it" so I'm pretty sure this is anbug which will be fixed. His post isn't showing up on devtracker for some reason. Why it wasn't fixed months ago when this was first brought up I don't know.

Thanks,

The bug only happens once a bounty hunter has trained in Investigation 3 AND chooses to 'find and track target' instead of 'find target' with a seeker. This bug does not affect use of Arakyds.
The DE community stands to gain some new business from all the bounty hunters who refused to do investigation prior to yesterday's patch. With the changes there are a lot more bounty hunters attempting to master the profession which means more bh droids sold. However, the big change for bounty hunters in yesterday's patch was a large increase in exp/mission that reduces our total number of missions from 300+ to around 150. Probably 100 of those missions that we no longer have to finish would have required droids. So it's unclear how these 2 things will affect the number of droids you can sell to the bounty hunter community.
It would be a good thing to get this seeker bug fixed. Bounty hunters at investigation 4 aren't dirt poor and can continue to pay for seekers (we got an increase in mission pay yesterday too). Please don't take your frustrations out on us by spiking the price.
The investigation line is full of bugs. Nothing in yesterday's patch changed those. We sympathize with your plight, as the devs have shown us very little love since release.
Remember though, not all BHs are to blame for exploiting because there was no way around this bug. I had bought enough seekers to get me to master anyways, so the DE I used did not lose money. I am sure there are some BHs who knew about the bug beforehand and only bought like 1 seeker to live off of after learning Investigation 3. Again, you all need this fixed and a lot of major changes and I am just hopefull that some changes come in soon.
