Thread: We need to Fix the DE profession

Hehe, the ol pricing bugaboo again.

Straker is the man, his post is dead on.

Basically, you shouldn't be a DE if you want to make MILLIONS of credits. I think the happiest DEs are the ones that made all their credits some other way, like Janta missions, but run a DE shop for fun. I do make some credits as a DE, but I've been doing it for most of the time that SWG has been around and I can tell you that 85% of my cash is from missions.

And you wonder why pricing is messed up? It's because we all have different priorities.

Now if SOE made droids permakillable, that's a whole new ball game. Blame them, not other DEs just trying to sell their stuff for a decent but not outrageous mark-up.

Hmmm, I just scrolled up and read more of your earlier post. 50 million? thats ALOT of droids. I guess I've really made about8 or9 million in droid sales since I started, hard to tell because I spend credits like a drunken sailor and I never seem to run low. DE isn't so bad, It could be worse - we could be BEs I suppose.

We all need to have a serious discussion on prices for JTL droids and ship components at launch so we dont screw ourselves.

I thought the point of most of the responses in this thread were, we're gonna charge what works for each of us, so what do we need to discuss? I personally plan to go with my standard Resource + Profit +/- Good Customer Bonus/Penalty.

Really people who are underselling are hurting themselves. I'm not a MDE, but I still sell storage droids for atleast 30k. There is no reason to undersell, you could be making so much more cash if you sold at their true value. Really one loses money when they sell on the bazaar, think of that money you could have earned if you got a vendor. It comes down to who walks into your store, are they willing to pay the price for a droid that does what they want or not? I think the thing to do is to keep a clear head and sell reasonably. Think of a price you would pay for a certain droid, and set your prices there.

People planning to be shipwright plan to sell their ships for anywhere from 500k to 1 million, why?

oddly enough, (not NDA breaking! Im going off what the devs said from gamespy reviews!) Ships will be the closest thing to droids in JTL, why you ask?

1: they are a one time investment.

2:Some actually need droids to be fully functional

3: even more that im afraid to disclose even though they have already been said by the devs in gamespy/gamespot reviews.

Nell, you will probably need something else (missions) to supplement your income until you become master. One of the biggest problems with this game's crafting system is that Master-Crafted goods are the most (sometimes only) marketable items.

You can't make a decent saleable item until you're a good way up the tree (of any crafting prof). That's why so many grind their way to master and have no clue what they're doing.

I'd say ditch the vendor for now, just concentrate on your bazaar sales of lower end stuff, and personal sales of >6k droids, as you'll probably need to make a name for yourself or get enough of merchant to get on the planetary map in order to drive business to a vendor. (One good way is to put an advertisement in the description of your bazaar sales to mail you for custom orders, or whatnot.)

Hey again Nell,

All i can say is you gotta do what you gotta do price guides are a funny thing, and what works on one server, isn't guarenteened to work on another server.

I do agree getting to master is a big plus, and gives you many different options for your droids.

if you do not have the advertising III skill in the merchant line, vendor location is will probably have a huge impact on your sales. Even with the advertising 3, and the option to have your vendor shown on the overview map vendor location will determine for many if they visit you or not. For myself i don't have that skill, so i've made sure my vendors are in malls, or with other merchants that do have that advertising skill.

Keep it up, things will get better!

wab, you said "think of how much more money you could be making on a vendor"...

When I sell my droids for 3 - 4k on the bazaar, I sell every one. Right away. I log on and I get the "beep beep" message indicating an e-mail telling me they were sold.

I starting following the pricing guides on here, put some lower end droids on the bazaar for 6k and opened up a vendor. Not 1 sale yet.

It sucks, but undercutting seems to be the only way for me to be able to get a sale, until I reach MDE. Everything I get requests for arethings I can't make. So I can't successfully run a business until I hit MDE. So it looks like my only option is to serverely undercut.

I'll keep up my business for a bit, see how I do at my raised prices. But I'm running low on money, and can't go without some big sales for much longer. I got 2 houses (1 home, 1 shop) and 6 personal harvestors that I have to support, plus resources for my droids that my harvestors don't collect. I can't go much longer.
