Audio, you are precisely one of the people I am talking about. All you ever do is complain and whine. I have never once seen a "great thanks!" post, just a "ta, but waaaaaaah". It doesn't matter what the devs would have done, you would complain about it. Even TH has commented on that directly to your face, in public. Time to take note that you are pissing people off in a big way and that your opinions do not matter anymore until you change that huuuge attitude problem you have. It's very obvious you didn't even comprehend what I wrote, just just found another convenient excuse to whine again. You have fallen for using exactly the same tactic you are accusing me of using.

Let's look at a few things that are facts here:

- We've asked for a way to repair droids damage for 6 months now: We got repair kits.
- We've asked for longer battery life: We got double the time
- We've asked for more combat-capable droids: We got it, by expanding the capabilities of some of our existing line.
- We've asked for experimentation to be more meaningful: We got some of it, probably more to come (and to see where this is going, look at the Chef changes where experimentation was removed from the subcomponents, making them more like us, than different).

The simple fact is that the droid invasion is still there and we haven't seen it yet. We've been given a few snippets of changes that will be coming, but not the entire thing. How you can manage to whine about something we haven't even been shown yet is beyond me, but just proves the point that you'll whine about whatever you can, regardless of whether it is on topic or not.

Think they'd be happy with their "Salary Invasion"?

I feel disgusted because its too little too late. Im upset that so much development time was wasted making the Droid Handler class without telling us it was under progress. All that time could have been used to make better utility modules. Instead we will get half baked ones in publish 8.

Blue

You are not well. You really should see someone, and if I could help, I would.

Everyone else panders to your ranting, but not me. Your game is over, ours is about to commence.

Ciao

Again, it is not me who is whining, and if you want to generalize my posts I welcome you to actually read them first.

Above I was very clear and well reasoned, yet you dismiss it as whining because you seem not to agree.

It does not matter to me if you think my opinions matter or not - because they do, just like anyone else who posts. I see no constructive information coming from you, nor even any talk about droid engineerling, simply making insults to "90%" of the DE community.

You may not like what I have to say, but trolling and insulting don't get you anywhere either.

If you are happy with DE - be happy with it. Write up some constructive posts regarding the profession (as I have above) instead of complaining about other peoples attitudes.

The one reason that we're probably seeing less on the surface compared to the Chef (a good comparison IMHO) is that the revamps typically take more than just a month cycle. You can bet that the Chef revamp started 3-4 months ago but was only seen on the surface last month. Droids would have been the same - they started all the work for putting combat droids in game well before Christmas (remember the patch notes that slipped out about combat animations for protocol droids?). However, when the DEs ranted about not wanting a DC profession, they've basically had to start again from scratch for the most part and try to do something in the now very limited time span they have.

As someone else mentioned, the sole reason that publish 7/8 is not going to be as impressive as it would have been is due to our own (collective) making. They now only have 2 months to come up with something that they would have normally had 4 months for. When we said no to DC, there was at least 2 months work of design and initial development work thrown out the window that was non-recoverable (art assets, however, can be reused elsewhere - see the Corellian Corvette for a really good example) I'm pretty sure that publish 7 wouldn't have been much different either way, but publish 8 will certainly have been impacted big-time with what would have been available compared to what we are going to get.

I'd say that is very accurate. I think the reason the DE community responded so loudly to the DH profession wasn't simply because we had already given all the reasons why, it was that at the same time we were told that it was what we had said we wanted. That one was a communications malfunction.

I also don't think that people understood that no Droid Handler meant no new combat droids - just like we didn't know "we are crafters" would get translated into "we want droid handler".

I hope that next time when the development team is faced with asking a profession community about changes like this, it will be presented in a more action/consequence type of way. I think what Droid Engineers would have said were the options as clear as they are now would have been much different than it turned out.

I think we made an uninformed decision compounded by the emotional sting of the presentation of the concept to the community.

Simple answer is that people aren't happy unless they are moaning about something. Even if you gave them everything they wanted, they would still find someone to whine about. Unfortunately, 90% of the DE population seems to be that way. Be like me and not care what others say and just have fun with whatever the devs do. Get angry when the break something that prevents crafting or some other catestrophic error, but not care about anything else.

It's not that people HAVE to **edit** and moan...

Let's say SOE announced that a "Salary Invasion" is comin' to all of its employees via a memo. The wording of the memo is HIGHLY suggestive of a LARGE increase in salary for EACH and EVERY one of SOE's employees.

JustG's and TH's salary is increased $1.49.

Think they'd be happy with their "Salary Invasion"?

I have to agree with this, but don't forget how much easier it would have been if instead of the Question "Do you want DE to become a Hybrid profession" we got the Question "The only 2 viable methods for adding high level combat droids, A hybrid droid Engineer or a Droid handler profession, which would you prefer". As it was we were asked what should have been a simple multiple choice question with no way to know what the options were, and certainly no way to know that the option we'd been supporting (certs)had been removed from the equation

No no no!Don't say that, Audio! I'm sure that the "droid Invasion" will be as groundbreaking and game-altering as the "Imperial Crackdown"

Update on the Crackdown : I finally got scanned - after all this time - yesterday on TC. I of course had no contraband - and the encounter lasted about 5 seconds.

I have yet to even meet someone on my server that had been scanned on live.

I guess this is my biggest problem right now - that I'm dreading the next TWO patches being labeled all about us, and having to explain to people that what they are expecting is not happening. When they hear what was really added I expect laughter, condolences, and one or two people wanting Stimpacks. No matter if you think it's "enough" or not, you cannot deny that those patch notes are heavily, heavily padded :"A combat droid is a droid that has combat modules installed." "A combat module is put in a combat droid to make it a combat droid." "A combat module is constructed like every other droid module."

I just DON'T want it to become the joke that the "Imperial Letdown", as most people on my server refer to it as, was in-game. While the Blastomech will attract interest initially, unless it's stats are superior to our current Probot it will not be useful to most players. I think the fundamental problem with the CL-10 thinking is thinking that people care about sub-CL-10 pets. Most people see that as the bare minimum, not the high-end of the scale. No one is going to ask for a CL-5 or a CL-7 droid. They only want "the best"- I'm sure people here and there will be happy with it, but as with everything in the DE profession it's a niche item.

So in all seriousness, I hope they come up with a more approrpriate, non-droid centered name. There was much more content for Chefs in the last patch than we are getting now, yet that wasn't called "The Chef Invasion". The name is just not appropriate, and I don't want to see even more venom/compassion thrown at the DE community for what many are going to believe is not much changing (for the end user) at all.
