I'm going to keep my engineering skills in the hopes that I can be DE someday, when it's given any attention. It's a real fixer-upper, for sure, but I hope that at some point, DEs will be an important facet of SWG instead ofa non-UO-fantasy-cookie-cutter class the devs are terrified to work on.

Haha.... the only YES vote comes from someone that says,

"My answer is YES.

Now, let me point out that I am not evena droid engineer yet"

Am I the only one that finds that absolutely hysterical?

By the way... I would of course suggest... NO!

YES.

By the time you reach master, the dev's wil have fixed the profession and we'll be rich and famous (like we deserve!) I wouldn't have it any other way, (than DE)

i personally am happy that i chose to become a DE, and won't give it up, even though my previous comment may suggest otherwise. however, if you have doubts about becoming a DE, I wouldn't try it right now

I love droids. I love how much potential the DE profession has. Unfortunately, the profession as it currently stands needs a lotta help.

I almost, almost, gave up on the whole DE thing. but I decided to go through with it. I figure eventually the major problems will be fixed and we'll be the better for it.

I vote YES.

I vote YES. Why? I'm currently working my way up the VERY slow grind. Eventually they are adding battle droids and other combat droids to the profession. Now when that happens everyone who is already at Master Droid Engineer is either going to get instant access to these droids or at least will be able to get them sooner if they add them to the 'elite' professions I've been hearing about. What most DE's are hoping is to keep the number of DE's VERY small at this point so when that happens, more money for them. Don't let anyone fool you...this is going to be a huge money making profession and my suggestion is to get in now and be ready to take profit when the devs put the fixes/new droids in. Don't be caught trying to play catch-up. When the new droids hit prices will be astronomical and eventually undercutting will erode away profits. Look what happened to bone armor? All your DE's know this as probot prices dropped drastically even before the nerf. Get in now if you want to join this profession or you will just be discouraged later when you're fighting your way up the slow grind knowing that prices are dropping daily and the market is being saturated with the new droids.

Yes!

Droid engineering gives you a lot of interaction with people. Sometimes this is good and sometimes it gets annoying, but at least it's interaction! You will meet many people in the game who LOVE droids and want to hear all what you can make for them. It is very cool! You get to make custom droids for people, and they like them!

Droids are cool. There are fewer droid engineers than weapon or armor smiths or architects, and you can actually sell your products once you hit blueprints III or so. For novice weapon smiths I bet it is much harder: why would I buy a weapon from you when I can pay a bit more and buy the BEST there is from Joe-Master Weaponsmith?

Droids got there problems. They will take a while to fix (probably a few months). They recently said "Huge numbers of combat droids coming". Even if "huge" turns out to be 5, it will make things even better. Heck maybe they'll even give some function to Binary load lifters and protocols! And if Droidekas come, oh man, watch out!

THEY ARE NO MATCH FOR DROIDEKAS!

If!!! we ever get Droidikas we will have to buy our parts from weaponsmiths and armoursmiths, as if they need the buisness! They will cost a ton and be limited in scope, The shelid generators are pathetic they only last for very short time and cost out the wazzoo!! the weapons will some where out and need to be replaced!! thus if we do get them they will be so gimped as to be effectively worthless. YOU KNOW THE DEVs LOVE PETS why make anything that will contined with them.

DEVs please note luke who was not yet a jedi killed the rancor single handedly, both Obi-won and Qui-jon were runn off by a pair of Droidikas!!!

I'm going to have to say no. The only people I tell to go DE are in my guild, and that's just so they'll tell the rest of the guild that I'm not kidding when I say droids are messed up. So far, nobody in my guild has risen to the challenge.

Well, I think this is really sad. You want the devs to stop pushing DE to the backburner? Then all of you no-sayers need to stop chasing people away from the profession.

It boils down to politics at this stage. CH has been winning out due to the huge numbers of CH's out there. If we can't rally people behind DE we're dead in the water.

It's funny, I'm trying to determine if I should go Architect or DE, so I've asked this same question on other profession boards, and everyone gives the same sorts of answers.

"No, It's too hard to get xp"

"No, it's broken and the devs aren't doing anything about it"

"No, it's too hard to make money"...

Heh, so I guess they all suck in there own way, however I see a lot of rich Elite Artisans, so I guess it just comes down to which one you'll enjoy the most. Heh, maybe I'll just forget and stick with mining and my Melee profession.
