The droid isn't missing a "mod," but it does need a survey tool (chemical, gas, water, etc.) to take with it on its "trip." The tools are craftable by any artisan, and doesn't have to be of high quality. Droid Engineers do not put these tools into the droid when it's created. It's either up to the DE to sell them, or the buyer to find them...

But you're right, that'sa bit of info that should be included with them on the vendors. I will make it a point to do so on mine!

I wouldnt blame the maker of the droids too much, as we DEs are still learning about them and how to use them as well. I admit I do use the item window to write down details of the Droid, but you have to remember, its takes alot of time to write up a set of user instructions on each Droid for sale. Im on Corbantis as well and yesterday was a VERY busy day for DEs, I had to restock my Droid vendor about 4 times just to keep up with demand. If the DE you went to had survey Droids, he was probably selling them as fast as he could make em as they are pretty rare on Corbantis, so he probably just either didnt have the time or didnt know.

Ive gotta a load of Survey tools stocked for when Vertex spawns (hopefully soon!), and Im gonna be selling em on my droid vendor at 100 Creds each. If you can't get any Survey tools, gimme a /tell or an email, and Ill give you a crate of each free so you can use your droids.

That leads me up to question 4) On Corbantis Vertex Gemstone (needed to make Survey Droids)has spawned, but only twice - last spawn was over 2 months ago. As this resource is also in demand by Armorsmiths as well, its almost impossible to finds any unless you 1)The DE had some mined from 2 months ago (but it spawnedbefore DEsknew they needed Vertex) or 2) Pay silly money for it.

My first droids are always test droids. I make them out of semi decent materials and give them to my friends to use for me and tell me about bugs. I only make a few of these and it saves me headaches and mistakes that would tarnish my reputation. Yesterday I made a harvesting / trapping droid and gave it to a buddy to try out. I am not one to rush into making all these new droids for the $$ instead I figure them outand deliver a good product. Find yourself a good DE that will treat you right and he will earn your loyalty. By the way I'm on Naritus and no its not this character name. :-)

now a chance for me to defend my self.

Peelop (ingame name) first of all accuse me of selling droids that don't work. and that i was ripping people off. first i sold 50 on tues peelop was the first and ONLY EVER to complain. he/she accused me outright of not using vertex, when i did. ever try to buy a gun from a weaponsmith that didn't use copper? can't happen.

if u can't get something to work wouldn't u ask the person who made it wut the prop its? peelop deemand that i remove my product and contact all my customers and let them know they don't (they do) in an email i can forward to everyone peelop threatend me with runing my name in coronet and the boards, why? because peelop apperantly has the time to write lengthy accusatory emails but can't take 1min to ask how to work em?

next. when we all logged in early on tues and soe kindly showed use all the goodies in the new pub what was the first droid explained? uummm the INTERPLANTARY SURVEY DROID (peelop says it doesn't go interplanetary) what does it say in that description? put a survey tool in the droid pick a planet and let it go.

after all this happened (a few hours later)i found peelop outside my house. peelop said that he/she was talking to a csr about survery droids. after awhile peelop said "yep i've confirmed it the csr, the survery droids are bugged" i said "okay" then fired off a mineral survey tool put in the droid picked the planet tatooine and 30 min forwarded peelop the report!!!! either peelop was lying or the csr had know clue wut he was talking about. (i'll let u guys decide which one)

now on to my customer service i go out of my way to help peeps who don't know about droids. i have spent up to an hour explaining all the mods on my droids. why because if u don't understand the droid u won't enjoy the droid and that has a negative effect on new customers and repeat business. i will go out of my way to help u thats who i am.(on tuesday i never turned my afk on like a few other de's did, yes i got bombared with tell's and i anwsered everyone)

now on to the vertex question. i WORKED my ASS off to get a small amout of vertex i would post the names of those who helped me locate a small amout, to thank them but i do not want them bombarded by tells.

later i will be having my customers come on here to defend me as well. ty for ur time

and remember if u have a question about how something works? ask before u buy it, when was the last time u dropped $$$ on something u didn't know about and didn't ask how it worked?

oh ya on the topic of supplying survery tools with the droids, how on gods green earth do i know wut everyone will be survering for who buys one? it takes like 40 units of metal to make a survey tool if u really really one after u buy the droid and don't have or can't make one by all means i'll make u one for rree.

My vote is that the CSR's don't have a **edit** clue about ANYTHING in this game.

If you're not happy with what you bought, take it back to the vendor and offer it up for what you paid for it. With the demand on those right now, I seriously doubt Oroo wouldn't take them.

As for petty insults, those are always the first resort for those who don't want to take the time to think for themselves.

I just wish I could use a few of the new ones, but alas, no scout or artisan skills.

/Agree Oroo

First off I'm not agreeing with a DE because I am a DE. When the publishes go up, we have basically the SAME knowledge as everyone else ('cept that we probably read about the changes coming more thoroughly). There is almost no way for us to "babysit" everyone who buys one of our items.

Believe me...I do my best to help out anyone who buys my products. Yesterday I was /tell'ing with 9 different people at the SAME time! This is difficult. I was also running factories, checking harvesters, and trying to craft on three different tools. Today I am reading the boards at work and making /tell macros so I can better explain what DEs can and can't do.

After reading this thread I now know how to use a survey droid (so all is not wasted). I can not make these droids yet since Vertex has not been around for 92+ days and counting...but I'm ready when it is available.

Don't rip the DE apart, this is a VERY complex profession and takes alot of patience. Some of our advanced combat droids take more than>>> 40 <<< parts!!

Anyways I said my piece...

CONTACT THE DE IN THE GAME BEFORE YOU RIP HIM/HER APART!!!

You bought a fully functional droid. You accused the DE who sold you the droid of not using required components, which is NOT POSSIBLE. You accused him of selling you a chassis not a droid (not possible with disposable droids). You accused people trying to help you of burying their head in the sand and all sorts. At the moment, you are not holding a rational argument.

Try tocalm down and read what is being written.

1) The droid works fine. It had a problem on test, it does not have a problem on live. It works. It does not return a blank email. It does not only do the planet you are on. It's fine, it works.

If you were told differently by a CSR then the CSR is wrong. There's no point defending that she said it, the fact is that the information is wrong, whoever said it. The droid works.

2) You need a survey tool and novice artisan to use the tool.

This is poorly documented (as are all the new droids) but that doesn't make the person who made sure it was available day one a crook. It means it was poorly documented. The DE made the droid and made it correctly, you can NOT insert a survey tool into the droid to make it a one step operation.

3) Artisans make survey tools and they are cheap. It's not a mod, it's not a DE item, and it's not part of the droid.

When a Master Artisan pointed this out, you accused Artisans of trying to get rich quick as opposed to taking in the information. As a side note, no artisan ever got rich off of survey tools.

Again, it's simply the way the droid works ... put a mineral survey tool in your inventory, fire off the droid, it will mail you in half an hour with the report. You don't get your tool back.

I am including survey tools by the crate on my vendor selling the droids as a convenience, but not everyone does. It was hectic enough yesterday that I did not mail buyers explaining how they worked. It's a lovely idea but the fact that it's necessary really is depressing.

4) If you want to be sure of what you are buying, never EVER buy an item that was just released.

Everyone is getting to grips with it, everyone is trying to understand how it works, people are rushing around like headless chickens and every DE was bombarded yesterday. Yes, a DE has to understand their own products (and from the post, your DE did. I believe him because a) he explained it clearly here and b) you did not seem to take in explanations given to you here) but it takes time. I do not log in and have some special knowledge passed onto my character because I'm a master DE.

There is such an attitude of I MUST HAVE THIS ITEM NOW that it puts real pressure on the crafters to get them available quick. This means poorly understood items, overpriced items, shoddily made items all go straight onto the market and are bought like a shock. If you really want to ensure you get good quality items and don't have someone you already know and trust, wait a week. Prices will be down and quality will be better.
