Thread: Stick a fork in me...

NOOOOOOO!!! Dammit, Sotaudi... you are one of the best contributors for this forum! You always gave the people who posted questionsextended information. I think I can safely say you are one of the most respected riflemen ever in this game. I don't say that lightly.
Also, I cannot say I don't blame you. I have decided to try the grind for Jedi for a while. If it bores me, it's over for me too. I don't really want to PvP, but at least Jedi is somethingdifferent. I think armor, buffs, food, and Jedi, have all cost this game dearly. I think the devs rushed the game without proper LONG-TERM planning and now it's time to pay the piper. IMHO, the devs over-react. Armor would have been fine maxing at 30 or 40% effectiveness. I'm tempted to go on and on, but this is not the place. However, this IS the place to say that, though I never met you in or out of game, I WILL MISS YOU!

I appreciate the kind words, but I will tell you a little secret ... *makes sure no one else is listening* ... Much of what I have written was just expansions on the work that you and Volsted did early on. So if I did any good on these boards, it was largely due to groundwork you had already laid. So I just wanted to say that I appreciate all you have done as well.
The same thing I said to Kezia goes for you as well. I count you as a friend and I will miss you as well. /Salute

The sad thing is that Jedi have become the goal of the game for many people. Its sad, but true. The rest of the content is less than stellar unless you make it yourself. Which is horrible.
I'm in an RP guild and we do a lot of different stuff, both RP related and PvP related (yes the two can be intertwined nicely). However, its my guild that keeps me going at this game as we do things to improve the content for ourselves. Which makes it a better game. Too bad SOE doesn't try and do as much for us as we do for ourselves. They organize tournaments, balls, movies (I suggest getting on the Starsider forum and searching for 'Night at the Loksbury').
I'm sorry your experience hasn't been great and I completely understand your feelings about the Jedi. The sad fact is that most (note the word MOST, not all) of the Jedi are in the hands of powergamers who don't have fun unless they are winning. They don't understand depth, they don't understand character development, they don't understand content, they don't understand ROLEPLAYING.
This is the biggest problem with the Jedi, many of them are out for themselves and not trying to help other people enjoy the game and establish content. The people who establish content are too busy establishing and making content to grind Jedi. And SOE has no system to give these people the credit they do for running events... at least credit towards Jedi. Ends up with responsible people not getting Jedi while selfish people get the ultimate power.
Granted Jedi shouldn't even be in this theme, but it won't be so bad if the Jedi were in hands of people who care about the game as a whole instead of themselves. But those are the breaks. I tend to ignore Jedi... except to make sure I see their saber/use a force power so some BH can try and kill them. The only time I really engage with them is in PvP... otherwise, I ignore them unless I know the player deserves (because of attitude, not grind) a Jedi.
I have known some Jedi who care about the game and care about people, but your point is, nonetheless, largelycorrect. Many who choose to go Jedi are the powergamers who would look to whatever template they can get to dominate the game, rather than to actually become a "living" person living in the Star Wars universe, the latter of which is what gives this game so much potential.

Sotaudi,
Sorry to see you go. You help on this board have been immeasurable. Your posts have always been well thought out, extremely detailed, and most informative. You will be missed here.
Thanx for all the help you have given Riflemen and for that I salute you. Best of luck in all that you do.

I appreciate the kudos, but it has been easy to contribute to this board because, like I said with Wayne, there have been so many others contributing that have made me think and have given me the ability to put together a lot of information to pass on to those asking questions. And, as with the others, I appreciate the phrasing, "extremely detailed, and most informative" rather than, "He just does not know when to shutup." ![]()
You have also been a good contributer to the boards, and the community will do well with you as the correspondent. /salute
And to everyone else. When the wolves come calling again, and they will... be sure to circle the wagons around Waste. Sometimes there is a tendency to toss the correspondent to the wolves in hopes he will sate their hunger. Be supportive of him. He is doing a good job.
