I'm in an RP guild and we do a lot of different stuff, both RP related and PvP related (yes the two can be intertwined nicely). However, its my guild that keeps me going at this game as we do things to improve the content for ourselves. Which makes it a better game. Too bad SOE doesn't try and do as much for us as we do for ourselves. They organize tournaments, balls, movies (I suggest getting on the Starsider forum and searching for 'Night at the Loksbury').

I'm sorry your experience hasn't been great and I completely understand your feelings about the Jedi. The sad fact is that most (note the word MOST, not all) of the Jedi are in the hands of powergamers who don't have fun unless they are winning. They don't understand depth, they don't understand character development, they don't understand content, they don't understand ROLEPLAYING.

This is the biggest problem with the Jedi, many of them are out for themselves and not trying to help other people enjoy the game and establish content. The people who establish content are too busy establishing and making content to grind Jedi. And SOE has no system to give these people the credit they do for running events... at least credit towards Jedi. Ends up with responsible people not getting Jedi while selfish people get the ultimate power.

Granted Jedi shouldn't even be in this theme, but it won't be so bad if the Jedi were in hands of people who care about the game as a whole instead of themselves. But those are the breaks. I tend to ignore Jedi... except to make sure I see their saber/use a force power so some BH can try and kill them. The only time I really engage with them is in PvP... otherwise, I ignore them unless I know the player deserves (because of attitude, not grind) a Jedi.

I have known some Jedi who care about the game and care about people, but your point is, nonetheless, largelycorrect. Many who choose to go Jedi are the powergamers who would look to whatever template they can get to dominate the game, rather than to actually become a "living" person living in the Star Wars universe, the latter of which is what gives this game so much potential.

I am done.

For those who care, I am sad to say that I have decided that I am going to call it quits. My subscription expires in a few days, and I will only renew it for one more month to change the leadership of the guild I run and to take care of some business.

For the last few months, I have found, more often than not, that I get in-game then wonder why I bothered. I do not have anything particular that I want to do. Since the Galactic Civil War from, a story standpoint, is non-existent and, from a PvP stand point, is nothing more than a war between gangs complete with driveby shootings, the content in the game has degraded to nothing more than profession grinding. Unfortunately, I have the profession build I want, and, in getting here,I have ground out all the professions that I have any interest in doing. That means there is no content iin the game for me. I am not going to grind out a bunch of professions in which I have no interest just to have something to do.

There are, of course,Jedi and Force Senstive skills, but that is nothing more than another profession grind, and an extended one at that. However, I have no intention of going on to Jedi. They do not belong in the game in this time frame. Obi Wan is dead, Luke has yet to visit Yoda, and the Emperor is too busy ruling the galaxy to be running around Theed with a lightsaber. That leaves only Luke (who is not yet trained) and Vader as the only active light and dark Jedi. Yet the Devs have made it possible for virutually anyone to become a Jedi and decided to control that by making the profession tremendously hard to grind and set it up so that it is virtually impossible to do so without ending up on the BH terminals. And that system is screwed up becase, for instance, Rebel BHs can kill Rebel Jedi (an act of treason)and other rebels grouped with the Jedi can do nothing about it (the same goes for Imp BHs and Imp Jedi). That means that the people you have to depend on to help you cannothelp you when you are being betrayed by your own kind. But even with out that, since I have no desire to become someone else's content and sinceJedi do not belong in the game at this time, I have no desire to grind Jedi.

I have been grinding out FS skills because I do not believe you will be able to compete without them, but if I finshed that grind or even gave up on principle and ground out Jedi, I would still have the same problem, all dressed up an no place to go, as it were. I would just be a different profession build with no content but to grind out other professions.

From what I have heard from JTL, all they have done is move the profession grind to space, so I am not going to spend the money to get the expansion just to do more of the same.

Therefore, it has been a wild ride, and I will dearly miss spending time talking with all of you out there. This is by far the best board in the game. But the game has become a job. Something I show up for because I have to, not because I am excited to be there, at least not anymore.

I will still be around for a while, but eventually, I will just have to say, "So long, and thanks for all the fish."

NOOOOOOO!!! Dammit, Sotaudi... you are one of the best contributors for this forum! You always gave the people who posted questionsextended information. I think I can safely say you are one of the most respected riflemen ever in this game. I don't say that lightly.

Also, I cannot say I don't blame you. I have decided to try the grind for Jedi for a while. If it bores me, it's over for me too. I don't really want to PvP, but at least Jedi is somethingdifferent. I think armor, buffs, food, and Jedi, have all cost this game dearly. I think the devs rushed the game without proper LONG-TERM planning and now it's time to pay the piper. IMHO, the devs over-react. Armor would have been fine maxing at 30 or 40% effectiveness. I'm tempted to go on and on, but this is not the place. However, this IS the place to say that, though I never met you in or out of game, I WILL MISS YOU!

Have fun in whatever you do. One thing that did make me think a little was your comment on reb BHs hunting reb jedi. IMO BHs arent factionally aligned if you want to be true to it.
