Thread: Difference Between a Droid Chassis and a Droid Deed

You can name a Deed anything you can name a chasis. Either can be used as a decoration, except the Chasis takes less parts to make, so it's probably the better choice.

The origional answer was already pretty much explained, but here is my 2 credits.

First you need to understand that there are 2 "types" of droids, Basic and Advanced. Basic Droids are lower level Droids that don't take a chasis, the Advanced need a Chasis. The main difference between the 2 types are how many modules they can hold, and what parts it takes to make them. It used to be that Advanced Droids had more Health and were better at Combat, but those days are gone. Right now, it really comes down to how many modules.

Which to use? Both.

I use the easiest droid to get the job done. Figure out what you want in the Droid, then look at your options, if a basic will do, use that, if you need more modules, use an advanced.

I stock a lot of parts, but really only stock Probot and R3 chasis. If I need another chasis, with the parts on hand, it's quick to put them together, or do a big factory run.

Hope that helps.

I sincerely appreciate you putting it to me in comprehensible terms, Straker. I'm guessing that much of the information contained within the "Droids 101" sticky is a bit outdated (pre-CU).

If the more advanced droids were more geared towards combat would it make nowadays, to use advanced droids for your more menial tasks such as those used by crafters or entertainers? I observe that a majority of players are either combatants or crafters/healers/entertainers. I think the CU pretty much forced players into one camp or the other. Is itsmart to invest more time/resources into making an advanced crafting droid or leave the more developed droids for running around the desert?

I am not 100% certain what you are asking here, but I'll try to answer anyway. I believe that you will find that the vast majority of droids you sell for general use will be Advanced R3s, they have the most available sockets, and are therefore the best droids for just about any use. You will always want to invest the resources to make a customer an Advanced Droid, regardless of thier profession. The notable exception to this is low level Astromechs, for them just throw a lvl 'X' Data Module into an R5(basix) deed. Droids do not decay, regardless of the amount of combat you get into, or the number of times they are incapped. (Thus limiting repeat business for DEs...).

I think this is the standard for most DEs... well except me that is. lol I don't make any R4 or R5 models, why?... well I think they are ugly! LOL I only make Astromechs in R2 form, not advanced just the basic model. I only add the data storage mods most of the time but sometimes add a lvl6 item storage too for 10k more. I would make an R4 or R5 for a custom order if somebody wants one, shoot I will make what ever they want if they want to pay. I know astromechs lvl1-5 are a temp. use for most players but there is so much money availible in this game and space is no exception! R2's are in my viewpoint the only true Astromech. From what my vendors have seen, people like them too. I sell Astromechs of all levels for 40-50k each and they sell, not fast but none of my stuff sells fast.

Hmm OK I made a few droid recently and they do look like droid chassis in Inv and when dropped. Though I have some Mouse Droid crates made almost 2 years ago that I may have to check to see if one will look like a mouse or not. Are Pre-CU Mouse droids a hot commodity worth many millions?
