Thread: Difference Between a Droid Chassis and a Droid Deed
the finished droid is the deed
the deed is made of sub-components one of them is called a chassis
if you want to make decorations make chassis you can drop them in your house to look like a droid
if you want to make a droid u can call and use make a deed
Main difference I see, is that a Chassis can be put down just like adeed, but that the deed can become a functional droid (more or less, depending on what modules it was made with).
So insteady of putting down a Protocol droid deed, you might want to choose a adv protocol chassis instead.
Can be cheaper, resource wise.
To elaborate further and hopefully explain further
A Chassis is a component in the making of most of the Advanced Driods. For a DE we can't even make those droids without first making the appropriate Chassis.
A Chassis if dropped in your house (anyone not only DEs) will be like a furniture/statue item showing that droid but will be just that - furniture
A fully complete Droid Deed is the only way anyone can call a Droid that is functional (depending on the components installed for how functional it is), but if you drop the Deed in your house it will look like any other Deed, a very small brown square item.

Well actually at one time when a fully functional droid was in deed form and you dropped it in a house it looked like a deed. That was long ago. Now when you drop a fully functional droid deed down in a house it looks like a droid. Boy has this proffesion advanced!
FYI only. History is wonderful.
And if ever you need a spare chassis, you can use your decoration. But, if you use a deed as decoration and try to sell it, you probably won't get customers with fancy names and numbers. Think of it, if you had no knowledge of droids and had to choose between two astromech with the stats you need and one is Deed for: R2 and the other is Bill's Servant, which would you pick?
Just my two credits.
Thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions. I guess the reason behind it--and this could just be a result from my own lack of observation--is that I failed to see where advanded droid deeds called for a droid chassis in the schem.
Again, I'll be the first to admit that I just have not paid much attention. At this point, I'm still trying to stockpile crates of components and subcomponents before I even begin thinking about crafting deeds. I just know that at some point, I will come around to throwing chassis' into the factories but didn't see the logic behind doing so because I haven't seen them called for in the deed schems.

Really? If so then sorry, my bad. I guess I don't think I've ever dropped a droid deed in my house as far as I remeber it so I was just assuming. Also still somewhat newly back, so it's not like I've done everything back and forth for years anyway. Curious though that you say it looks the same as in your Inventory - though all Droid Deeds looked in Inv like all other Deeds, a brownish square. Anyway, if somebody wants a droid to look spiffy as essentially a piece of furniture in their house there is no need to make a full Droid Deed even if it will look the same when dropped cause there is a bunch more crafting to get to that point.
