part of the problem is that a lot of this stuff is new and we are still figuring it out ourselves. a good auto-repair number would be 20*(the number of module slots in the droid), though most will be more like (10 - 15)*(the number of module slots in the droid)

As for the HAMs: they keep changing the HAMs on the droids and then leave us to test to figure out what the new HAMs are. I no longer know whata good HAM for a droid is except for the R3s, LEs, and Probots because I'm sick of running tests on all the others. /sigh.

For an R3 the max is 4.5k. for an LE, the max is above 5k. for a probot, it is somewhere around 3.5k. I have no idea about the other droid's hams.

SOLD! and many thanks, there couldn't be a clearer or more consise answer, I really appreciate it.

BTW: I was just looking at droid vendor and picked the best one on it, which was only 5k. From reading here I knew that wasn't "good" but it gave me a base line to ask against.

Again,

Thanks to every one for the quick replies, and Buzz is even on my server, so what could be better? (Well O.K., Nicole Kidman in a ....... )

I think this is the 3rd or 4th thread proposing the auto-repair army, btw. Maybe now there's an actual use and demandfor power droids.

>>>>

Seems like I missed those, so if I rehashed an old idea .. my apology.

Do you remember the names of those threads ("Tank" and "auto-heal" search words brings up to many threads) or have them bookmarked still ? I want to check what others had to say ... especially looking for actual combat testing examples. The "main" thread on auto-heal droids is not explicitly dealing with such an auto-heal horde - I kept an eye on that one.

IMO advnaced R3s running 1 combat and 5 auto-repairs, with the ranged combat turned off would work best for this. The probots tend to move around which might cause them to get out of range of each others "heals".

Have gotten this pulled off with 10 probots with nothing but autoheal, since it does only one damage automatically without combat modules. This band of tankbots effectively tanked 2 kimo's while our group killed them at our leasure. They took no damage (the droids or players) because that size of a droid group healed itself automatically quicker than they damaged. So it does work, and allows a group of newbs to effectively take large target out. Now if only they had the money to buy a plenty of them...hehe

Ok so which one is better?

The adv R3 with 5x repair and 1x combat or the adv Probot with 0x combat and maxed (how many?) repair modules?

If you want a droid that tanks, but steals as few XP as possibe : Advanced Probot (Combat Rating 1)

If you want a droid that tanks most effectively : Advanced R3 (more HAM, Combat Rating 8 or so)

If you want the droid to be able to follow your vehicle : Advanced Probot

If you want both melee and ranged attack options : Advanced R3

Both can have 5 autoheal modules for a rating of 98ish ...

Right I think the way to look at the 2 main droids in question are do you want them 2 nick your valuable xp for grinding?

If the answer is yes i dont mind losing some xp then imo Id go with the following

Adv R3 4477 HAM (99% experiment) with 1 Combat module (100 rating) and 5 auto repair (5X20.* = 102)

(Example of what i make on chimera).

If you only want the droid to do very low damage then you could do with:

Adv Probot 3184 HAM (99% experiment) with 5 auto repair (5X20.* = 102)

The reason being that the Adv Probot dosent need a combat module and will attack doing 1hp of damage so very low loss of xp.

I have also been selling a few LE repair droids but havent built a new 1 yet with my 20.* auto repair modules. I can make the HAM on the 5970 (also 99% in experimenting)

Hope that helps a little bit.

Also what stats does your copper have to get 109 combat modules ?

It seems that 5 auto repair modules is not nescesairy in a large group!! if you have 10 droids with autorepair in them there must be a way to balance this....
maybe 50-50 on the modules 2x 1 cluster of each??
I can imagine we want a better hit number dont we??

The max HAM for the droids I know are:

Adv R3 = 4500

Adv R2 = 4500

LE Repair = 6000

Probot = 3200

I image since the R2 and the R3 have the same HAM all the R series does, but can't say that for sure.

As a side note, my guild is planning a raid on the Corvette this weekend. I plan on outfitting all of us with a set of these R3's with full autoheal and seeing how things go. I'll post the results after.
