Thread: A Droid that Weaponsmiths would REALLY love
I posted this on the DE forum, and though everyone liked the idea, the general consenus was:
"Wow that would be a great addition to the game and a useful droid. But because the players could use it, the devs won't make them".
Thats a shame. Guess they're too focused on turning DE into a new Creature Handler profession with combat droids. ![]()

Well, to stop everyone from mass manufacturing theseone of the Droid's components could be "Weapon Repair Circuitry". The "Weapon Repair Circuitry" could be treated as a droid module and is only craftable by a Master Weaponsmith.
This way our repair droid will require a Master Weaponsmith for the droid module and an Artisan for the consumable Weapon Repair Tools and of course a Droid Engineer to assemble it.
this would be a great droid, as ive said before, that will do great things to take a bit more of the 'dealing with annoying people' part out of being a weaponsmith, i see only an upside to this. to bad it would never work. i could see this being a merchant skill too, they place it like a vendor and its just a general repair station, repairs all stuff for a cost but has to be loaded with the proper kits, batteries, droid stims, etc
you could do this same thing with med droids, so that they function like they do IN THE STAR WARS MOVIES. just make it so that they can only be placed in a hospital (public hospital would be able to drop but they would be stored a reset or something like that, player hospitals they could stay there full time) and these things could heal poison, disease, and wounds. maybe even apply buffs at the master doc level (or near it, lets face it, docs all have the +25 clothing and the 110 droids). would be nice if things worked like in the movies

Excellent idea, I thinkmore ideas like this would rejuvinate the DE class and bring alot more fun into the game ( less time doing menial tasks).
Hope the Devs see this and take note.
Would be a shame to let (very well thought out) free dev ideas go to waste

That's the whole point.
In some of Runesabres recent posts he mentioned that he doesn't want droids that are duplicating other classes or giving players "free" skills.
Well let the droids do the things the players don't WANT to do. That's what droids are for.
Repair droids would be great because NO ONE likes doing repairs! They're a huge hassle.
I'd also like to see droids that could act as mini mobile factories. Put the ingredients and a schematic in them, and they make your items. Would be great for doctors in hunting groups that could have their droid making new meds while they are tending to the group. Just limit the capacity of the droid so as not to compete with actual architect made factories. Set the capacity to 1 or 2 crates. Just for convienience sake.
That's a great idea. Though I like Zarghanon's idea of artisans needing a "weapon repair circuit" made by a WS as well.

To expand slightly:
- Weaponsmiths:Weapon Repair Droid - RequiresWeapon Repair Kits to placed in an input hopper
- Armorsmiths: Armor Repair Droid - Requires Armor Repair Kits to placed in an input hopper
Tailors:Clothing Repair Droid - RequiresClothing Repair Kits to placed in an input hopper
- Artisan:Vehicle customization Droid- RequiresVehicle Customization Kits to placed in an input hopper
- Droid Engineer:Power Droid Station- RequiresDroid Batteriesto placed in an input hopper (recharges called droids of user)
Only a master of each should be able to place these stations, and they should be able to set the "per use" price.
(ideas for Medics and Smugglers come to mind too...but their services are too closely linked to their skill mods I think.)
