Oh, and thanks for being mature and taking the time to go though and one star all my posts Isaac. You rock. Luckily there were enough 5 stars that you, in all of your trollish glory, didn't matter much.

Lol if we had the choice in RL to sendCreatures and Robots into battle instead of humans would we?

YES...after all we test eveything else on machines and animals first dont we....

So whats the problem, just introduce combat droids so they can not be fixed "similar to an AT-ST but much weaker",hence if they tank they will be destroyed in time and also any damage they dowill get you no xp...

Interesting how you assume that it was I who took the time to 1-star you. Funny how it was not. I've contributed to these forums for months now. 'Tis not I who is the troll.

hmm agree with others about the powerlvl thing, its why probot got nerfed to begin with, a cert system is a must if we want to have a viable market

Look. There is absolutely no need to resort to childish name-calling here. I refrained from referring to you as any number of the colorful adjectives I've come to associate with the caliber of your "ideas" and I assumed you would do the same. Consider your own reactions before you label another a "jackass" or a "troll."

Be that as it may, we are all standing aboard the deck of this great sinking DE ship trying with all our might to keep the bucket brigade going so that we all remain afloat. Each day brings dozens of "Hey DEV, look here" type threads that, though well-intentioned, distract from the organization of the issues that Sintrosi and Gorantoth (sp?) have worked so hard to provide. Reading TH's posts, he seems confounded by the diverging views of where DE should head in the future, and not playing a crafter himself, he has a lot to try to get a handle on. We are at a critical stage in our profession's development and we would all do well to funnel our thoughts and ideas through the appropriate channels, those channels suggested by TH and Sintrosi. How is the poor man to be expected to wade through dozens of new threads, each with pages and pages of angry and bitter posts. What we require is unity of voice.

We all have ideas. We all have expectations about where this profession should go. I wrestle everyday with the fact that I have so very many of my precious skill points tied up in MA and MDE when I might well be doing something else that is both more fun and contributes to the game environment. As it stands though, I hang on purely for the firm belief that DE will one day get its just deserts. Now these forums are intended to be free and open places for ideas and discussions. Fantastic. A friend of mine (a non-DE) wandered into our forum the other day and likened it to stepping into a room full of shouting people, each person clammoring to be heard over everyone else. And that's what we are, and not without some justification But a room full of shouting people is not going to save this profession. Bombarding TH with dozens of threads claiming to bear the salvation of the profession are distractions. Why not confine these ideas to the ongoing thread started by TH? Why begin another yet thread? Look through Sintrosi wonderful State of the Profession thread and the excellent compilation of issues by Gorantoth. Everything is there. Those two places bear the consensus gleaned from months of discussion. Those are the 2 articles that need TH's attention right now because they are our voice of unity. Work within the framework that TH has provided. Apparently thinking outside the box is a concept that is foreign to SOE so let's not confuse them any more shall we?

Isaac,

A point we agree on...

I agree with you...I have referred to the posts by Sintrosi and Gorantoth in a lot of my posts, even using links to make it easy.

The only reason I am even adding to those posts is that up until now, I have gotten use to devs totally ignoring us. I did periodically contribute when asked for feedback by Sin and Gora, but had more Ideas that I thought "what's the point" on.

Now that we are actually getting some much needed attention, I, and many others, have noticed things that we feel are missing from the report. Yes it is last minute. Yes it is causing a whirlwind. Yes it may delay TH a little. HOWEVER, this may be the last time that devs look at us for a while (they have lots of other cluster f'ed professions to deal with as well). I would rather the solutions be delayed and complete, than rushed and half-assed.

You are right, but please be patient. Devs seriously screwed us up even before release, and fixing us involves a TON of issues that some of us have expressed and some of us haven't. If we don't provide feedback we get that "proposal" (if you can call it that) that the devs served on us the first time. I would rather give TH another week of material to read than have the devs come back at us with another one of those...

Arden I disagree,

There is no such thing as a noob with too much cash.

(1) You can only have one character per server. Any player who starts a new character (a noob) has nothing.

(2) Anyone who is a noob has no cash...they have to earn their way to having money.

(3) By earning their way to having money, the noob gains experience and is no longer a noob.

(4) So you ONLY have non-noobs buying droids.

Also it takes 35 skill points (15 of those for novice artisan alone + 20 for classes) and ONLY 30,000 crafting xp to become a novice DE. I did that amount of grinding in a couple of hours when I got novice DE.

So you are arguing that "noobs" shouldn't have combat droids, but players who spend 35 skill points and a couple of hours crafting should?

Reality check, dude. That is idiotic.

Eric,

Anyone who is a noobie can't afford super powerful droids. How do they get them?

It took me a month and a half as a new player to be able to afford my first probot.

And, even if they could...don't you think a better solution would be to make the components for the powerful droids rare so they are too expensive for noobs to buy? DE's make more money, noods can't get them because they are expensive.

Think here guys...brain power is good.

While your work ethic is commendable, speaking as someone who came onto this server maybe a month ago and has had several hundred thousand credits pass through his fingers without doing a thing to earn them, I can tell you that "noobs" can indeed get plenty of money as long as they have friends backing them up. Within a week of being on the server, my friends saw to it that I was well enough off to start my path of choice in the crafting world. Had I been of a mind, I could have easily spent all the money on armor, weapons and a probot.

I'm sorry, but I think you're the one in error here.

So all players should suffer because your friends gave you the game on a silver platter? I think you are well in the minority buddy.

You also could have spent that money on resources off the bazaar, and spent an evening grinding artisan....bingo, you are a DE and can handle the same droids you are saying noobs shouldn't handle. There is no difference...you would still be a noob after those few hours, and would still have a combat droid.

In other MMORGS the practice you are describing is called power-leveling. IMHO, its cheating, but it's not my right to judge. Just realize that your experience is not typical, and is not representative of how the game should be structured.

I belive in a cert system for droids. Especially combat droids. Say 1 combat droid at Master Marksman, and one more as a master of any elite combat profession. DE's should not get any combat advantage and should have at least novice marksman before getting to use combat droids. Droids with up to LV3 medical modules should be available to novice medics, with master medics getting lv4 novice doctors and combat medics getting lv6. Something along these lines should also be done for other professions.

Isaac, if all we do is post to 2 or 3 threads then that is all this forum will be - 2 or 3 threads that are 20 pages long and just as hard to read.

I understand TH's and even Sintrosi's problem with keeping up with all the threads that pop up on the DE forum. But I would imagine every dev and every correspondent has the same problem with every other forum.

I found it rather naive that TH thought we would all stick to that one thread, or gather all the information that we have posted in every other thread to repost it in his.

But I understand his problem with trying to gather information and coming in to this after only two and a half weeks on the job.

These forums are a platform for the free exchange of ideas and information. Hopefully any solid solutions to our problems that are posted here will filter their way into TH's thread as people take up an idea and share it.

Often I will proofread my posts and have to take out any name-calling or unnecessary and inflamatory references. Might be a good idea for everyone. Attacking the person does not refute thier arguments. It only incites more of the same.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."
