Thread: New correspondent discussion
I nominate Woodrow Acktoe of Ahazi (known as TheWoody on these boards. On Ahazi, he is Chairman of the DEA (Droid Engineer's Association), has organized COUNTLESS Droid Engineer meetings and events, collects waypoints for resources, rare and common, that are of interest to Droid Engineers, sorts them, and distributes them to the MANY members of the DEA (unfortunately, due to bugs and other difficulties plaguing our profession, our numbers have declined to about 15 Masters, and 20+ novices; this doesn't include the guests that often attend meetings). He has rallies for different prizes, including factory crates of droid components, among other things. He keeps everyone posted on the news and events in the Droid Engineer community with regular headlines emailed in-game to the members, or to anyone on his DEA mailing list, and does the same when we've lost a fellow Droid Engineer, which, unfortunately happens alot. I remind you, there's no way to mass-mail people not in your guild, on your friends' list, or in your city; he does this all manually.
He does all this for not just the Ahazi server and Droid Engineer community, but for 3 (THREE!) servers, respectively!!! I don't think I need to go into much more detail to show you why I've chosen Woodrow to be my candidate for the DE Correspondent. He's selfless, motivated, and in-tune with the ups and the downs that occur in the everyday life of this plagued, but great profession. He is THE Droid Engineer. If there's anyone I'd want to represent me and mycraftto the Developers of this great game, it would be Woodrow Acktoe; TheWoody.

I'm hitting the cancel button tonight, but I think both of these choices are outstanding ones.
In a way, I'd like to nominate myself. However, I don't feel like my help would be as valuable as that of either Gorantoth (my primary candidate) or Drashk (a VERY close second).
I'd love to help though....and probably still will anyway.
I will very likely always be a DE in this game until I hang it up for good. So, I'd rather see one of those two wear the Correspondent hat for now. Perhaps I'll have my turn down the line.

Thank you, Foo! Gosh, what an honor. I am afraid that I have to decline the nomination, however. The reality of RL for me prevents putting in the time I think is required to be the DE correspondent.
My vote continues to be for Drashk in light of his future-thinking, thoughtful and detailed posts about the DE profession, his ability to gather consensus (and tolerate dissent!)and the dedication he's shown in testing droids on the test center. The devs do not always implement what's on the test centerand I think the DE correspondent has a unique ability to at least try out new features and then quickly voice his/her concerns on the inside track to the Devs.
My preference, of course, does not diminish my appreciation for Woody or the G-man.

All candidates would be good correspondents, my primary choice is Drashk because of his animal magnetism.
Sodan has shown a lot of initiative over the past couple of months on uniting the DE community, as I'm sure you can tell by his posts. He's also done an amazing amount to unite the DE's of our Server (Intrepid), and always appreciate his upbeat tone in his correspondence on both the boards and in-game.

To volunteer to the do the bug reports and not be the official correspondent? Well he earned my vote. There are other members of the community who are good at uniting us as well. But i think that hes the one who can get the right information off. The others should continue to keep us working towards a common goal. Rule by community basically.
This is really a tough call. There are so many good choices out there.
Gorantoth has done an excellent job compiling issues, exploits, wishlist items. Drashk has done very good work in testing new (as well as old) features and presenting them to the community. Woodrow's work in creating, maintaining, running the DEA is phenomenal, especially now that it is crossing servers. TheRealTK421 has put forward very good discussions regarding the profession as a whole.
Each one of them is capable of being open-minded to discussions, willing to look at, and even explore, alternative ideas. I would be happy with any of them as the new correspondant, but I think my vote is leaning towards Drashk.
