Thread: Sodan's Hybrid DE Proposal

One very minor problem I see is that Droid Repair Kits are currently in the Refinement tree, along with all of DE Experimentation Skills. So somebody going 0044 would be able to craft highly experimented "stims" for themselves. They would just have to move either the Experimentation points or the "Stims" to another tree so the dabblers wouldn't be able to provide these for themselves.

I think it's because they've flat out said sooooo many times "Certs won't work", "what Holocron said doesn't apply now", "can't do Certs", "we'll let you think that you can do something other than DH, but we'll just do DH anyway", ad nauseam.

This proposal may not be what everyone would ideally want, but it IS workable..and from where I sit reviewing all possible plans for progress *stares at this plan, looks around and sees no other*, it is a compromise I am happy to support.

I say move the stims into another tree. Just droid certs and -- lol -- custimization in 0040.

Agreed. We've been told that Certifications are out of the question, and we all know how unpopular a Droid Commander profession is. Minor alteration of the existing Droid Engineer profession is the only other avenue left to us.

The Devs said, pretty strongly, that a Cert system would not be implemented. We needed to go another direction, and this direction makes sense to me.
I like your idea, Sodan. If it's a model for a working hybrid DE setup, then a Dev should step in and let us know that we are on the right track and should work this out in more detail.

We've been told the Cert system won't work. We've been told we can't have extra checkers or too-hard-to-program utility modules. Thisis more of the way that I think the Devs were pointing in the first place.
If we're going to speak with one 'voice', we need to get whatever we think is truly best in place and stick with it. Waffling on this issue is not going to help us and may only lead to another DH debacle.
Mmmm... waffles.At this point in the game and the history that DE has come from, this is probably the best thing for all. It lets higher level combat droids into the game, that a ton of people want, and it will give pure crafter DE's a larger market for saleable goods.
My current 2 credits of your local denomination...

What a wonderful idea Sodan. The more I read your proposal the more I thought how it could work. I, personaly, am not interested in combat and only use my probotsin self defense.Alot of the customers I speak with have said that they would willingly take one or two trees of Droid Engineer if it meant they could have a suitablecompanion to take with them on large solo-ish hunts. The hybrid profession gets my thumbs up, well done!

The devs shot down the certs idea. We may all like it, but we're not goign to get any where. This is not a cert proposal, it adds pre-requisites to combat droid use. The combat droid certs are in the DE tree, but to control the droids you must spend the skillpoints and time to get the skillpoints.

Sorry guys, I'm just not seeing the point of all this. Perhaps it is because I'm still half asleep with not enough coffee in me. Why are we even discussing DE Hybrids? What is wrong with master DE's being able to craft everything droid related? Why are we contemplating a hybrid or even thinking about catering to dabblers? That's how I'm taking it at least. Someone please break this all down real simple-like lol for my sleeping/dead braincells.
