Thread: About DE only combat droids. My 2 credits.
Yeah, you put one of those advanced droidekas that you are imagining into the armor you are imagining and you've got a fairly powerful droid. That's what I'm afraid of more than anything else.
If we are going to be given a combat-exclusive droid, which I really don't want, then I hope they don't overdo it, which they probably will.
Anyway, this is a long time off. No sense in getting worked up about it yet.
There would definitely be a lot of balancing going on, but it shouldn't be too difficult. The developers have been fiddling with CH over and over again, and many of the same criteria would apply to droids. I think it would even be really nice if the crafting of these droids were like BE clones. Quality of resources and experimentation could result in a better combat droid.
I'm actually hoping that a few people do get 'worked up' about what I wrote, as long as they can write constructive critism.![]()
You would need to read the entire thread to see the context of where the Droideka and Advanced Droideka fit. To gain access to something like what I discribed above, you would need to be certed in an Elite Combat Professions, in regards to the Droideka, or a Master Droid Engineer, in regards to an Advanced Droideka.
Both the armor and HAM are examples of the highest maximum rating that is available if the Experimentation caps where to be removed. The Armor is based on 1 highly experimented Level 6 Armor Module that was made using a Krayt Composite Armor Segment and the very best resources. The HAM would also be based 100% on the quality of the components and resources used as well as the best results in experimentation.
As many of you know, I've been at the forefront of the "crafter camp" over this whole DE-only combat droid issue ... but you know what? I don't care anymore.
I just want my **edit** droids fixed and working.
I just want to keep the satisfaction I get when customers thank me and seem generaly excited over their newly coloured R2 units that I sell while I'm sitting outside the Bestine cantina.
I just want to keep the smile on my face everytime someone walks into my mall and says "wow! COOL!" at the droids I have set up around the place.
I just want to sit back and chill out with my best and loyal friend, Arwyn, my trusted R2 unit.
I just want to be a Droid Engineer....
And if they don't craft at all but just use the DE-Only pet, what effect does that have on the crafters? Absolutely nothing. Or even better, they might BUY the droid from one of the crafters if they don't want to bother with building it themselves. After all, we are talking about a significant amount of resources to build something that strong and probably some of the resources will be rare.
I think your over estimating your concerns and fears a good bit.
Jaerle wrote:For once I disagree with you. A CL40 droid? I know that's just a random number, but that is just going to open the floodgates on people coming to the profession just for that droid.
That is way too good of a DE-only droid. It needs to be lower level. The main complaint is people would just skill up DE to obtain the great droid. You need to ask for a lower level droid, one that is slightly better than what we can sell. I'd prefer no DE-only droid.
Not something that is so good. Do CH get a CL40 pet? Don't know why I'm asking that. I don't think you should advocate turning us, even temporarily, into the droid version of the CH class.
Please rethink your position. Many of us do not want to be turned into a CH clone.
Sintrosi, you are the eye in this violent, dynamic droid storm. You always make sense, and have only the best of intentions for us DEs. Thanks for standing up for us, even when we are at our worse. Kudos and a job well done. And you do this all for free; you are truly amazing.
About anything you say you have my vote, and you always have my support. Thanks.
Goss, MDE, MA, Novice Pistoleer, Rifleman 4, etc. etc.
The sound of Sintrosi hitting the nail squarely on the head...
I think a fair CL level is 25, but not more than 30 for sure. Probots are good for taking damage when you're fighting some pretty weak stuff. When you get to some moderately hard mobs they die quickly.
I want a new combat droid!
I disagree Sintrosi.
If they did that, we'll see lots of people getting to DE just so they can use the 'uber' combat droid. Just like it's happening with Creature Handlers, many people touching it just to use a Mauler or Greater Sludge Panther.
Since they don't really care about the other types of droids, they'll just probably give them away since DE is not their crafting profession or their way to make money. It will probably hurt us DE crafters, as the only things we will be able to make that they won't (since they're not going to be masters) are advanced protocol and BLL droids, useless.
