Thread: part of a poll in the Shipwright forum DE's opinions
In-game:
In my mind I see Droid Engineers as the top dogs in the area of Computers and AI. Our whole profession is centered around these super high end computers and their programming. Everything else we do is an add on.
With this in mind I see Flight computers solidly in the DE camp.
Droid Interfaces - Can see this either way. We know how the droid works. They know how the ship works. Lets split the difference and stick it in Artisan under Engineer IV.
- I would like to see Flight Computers moved to Shipwright. *No*
- OR
- I would like to see Droid Interfaces moved to Droid Engineer. No& Yes - do this option or leave it alone
I stand by this.
I don't think FC's should be moved to SW under any circumstances. It's simply not SW domain. Additionally, DI's are a SW's domain. Personally, I feel that it should just be left the way it is. I believe the current arrangement is fine now as it is and makes logical sense. However, *IF* they (the Devs)insist on doing some type of change to it, DI's should go to DE's as it can lighten the burden on SW's (who already have to craft many many parts and have little factory support) and help improve the DE perception of necessity.
Fortunately, if ya scan through the responses to this portion, you'll find that the overwhemling majority feel the same as I do in this respect. Either leave it alone, or move DI's to DE's if something is going to be done. Very few wanted FC's to get moved to SW.

Continuity-wise (and I know how popular continuity is in some quarters...) they ought to do both
However since there is a comparitively small market for Astromech and therefore droid interfaces (IIRC you dont need a droid interface for a flight comp????) we'd be screwed (again) if this change went through _unless_ many more ships were equipped with Astromech sockets at the same time (probably the Neutral ones since I don't know of any documented instances of a TIE having an Astromech on board)
actually, you do need a droid interface for a flight computer as well.
I stand corrected - thanks
