Thread: Best Combat Droid?

The ADV R3 has a higher HAM, lower attack damage, The ADV Probot is faster, does more damage, but lower HAM.

Trade offs either way.

I get a lot who love the tank droids (5 auto-repair and 1 combat module) on the ADV R3. This does low damage, but heals itself every 10 seconds while a lair is argo'ed on it. Peep then pick off the critters one by one from the Tank.

hmmm R3 or LE repair...the r3 has toggle for ranged to melee attacks and the le rpr is always melee. using as many autorepairs as posible and 1 combat mod in either option...and armor 6 (or 2 ar4s-same as ar6-in a r3).

What would be the best setup for a rifleman who wants a droid to tank for him?

Leo - This is black powder, Bob. A teaspoon of it can blow up a tree stump.
Bob - How much you got there?
Leo - Twenty pounds.

Unfortunately, that has disappeared. At present while the R3 does both ranged and melee, it decides which it wants to do and the user has no direct control over it any longer. That makes an R3 not as useful as it used to be as a tank. Granted it chooses melee over ranged more often than not, it can be a pain when it does choose ranged and takes off running to get a shot off.

Personally i'll take an R3 tank over an LE tank anyday... and I generally recommend them that way... I just dislike the LE repair as a tank..... tho ppl seem to like the "Super Battle Droid" furniture i make outta the chassis'... hehehe

I really feel the r3 is better all round as well. Even when we had the command toggle, i found it worked about the same as the droid does now, so no big loss there.

some comparrisons

100+ autorepair in an r3, with 4500 HAM compared to 40+ autorepair in a 6000 HAM LE.

Damage on each would be next to nothing.

The LE repair walks very slow, the r3 is faster.

Over time, the R3 will probably last longer, as it repairs more of it's own damage.

No matter which one you take, I highly recommend droid repair kit D's. they work like med kits for droids, and will keep your buddy in the battle much longer. you should hopefully be able to find 30+ charges, and 1500+ repair power kits (and that would kinda be on the low side) for not too much.
