Thread: Best Combat Droid?

Really depends on what you need the combat droid for. I would guess the best All round combat droid is probably the R3. It has 4.5k of HAM maxxed out, and 170 Dmg or so.

The Probot gives the most damage per shot, 180 or so, but it has a slower attack speed and less HAM than the R3 (3.5k Max), however as these are easier to build they are usually cheaper to buy.

The Highest HAM possible for any droid is 6k of HAM on the LE-Repair, however the Dmg on these is max in the 90s.

If you want a Droid to fight FOR you, Id go for the Probot as best Droid, on the other hand if you want a droid to fight with you(take damage but give it out as well)Id go for the R3, if you can afford it that is!. If you want a droid to just get beaten on for you while you take the mob out yourself the LE-repair is probably the best.

I personnally stock all 3 types on my vendor, plus a 'Tank' Variant of the LE-Repair. It has minimum combat (only does 60 Dmg or so), but has autorepair capability, so heals itself while it gets beaten on (only 100 or so every 15 secs, but it helps!)

The R3 Combat Droid is my biggest selling combat droid, followed by the Tank droid.

Wanting to know what the best combat droid for the average schmoe to use is?

600 rating is max, right?

4455 is highest ham I have seen so far. How high can they go?

What's the max damage anyone has seen/made?

Thanks

How quickly does their ham regenerate and can you buy some kinda stims to heal them?

HAM does regenerate, especially with an autorepairbut its pretty slow as these droids have 6k of HAM while a Repair Kit D can heal1k+ ofHAM per charge. I find the autorepair is only good to let them last a little bit longer in combat, as Im a Rifleman, Id rather not have to keepbreaking cover to heal it (range on Repair Kits is pretty short). Only problem with the autorepair is that it eats batteries. You'll usually need to recharge the droid after every encounter.

Ive only had my LE repair tank incapped once, when I was jumped by 2 Sludge Panthers (they spawned right next to me) while he was busy with 2 others. They deathblowed me, so I cloned quite a way away. About 5 mins later I got the message he had been incapped. Thats pretty good going, last5 mins or so without support against at least 2 Sludge Panthers.

LE repairsare the best non CH tank anyone can get, as they have high HAM, okay resists (20% to all) and something that is often overlooked, are immune to most special attacks, including stun, dizzy, Posture change, poison, disease and possibly Bleeds.

Current tests on Naritus have shown that the best tank droid by far is the Advanced R3 with 4477 HAM and Autoheal 98 with Combat Rating 8.

The droid does minimal damage against the enemy, leaving most of the kill XP to its owner. It autoheals trice as fast as the LE Repair. It is much faster than the LE repair. It has ranged AND melee combat option where the LE only has melee.

E.g. such a droid can take 15 hits from a Kimogila.

The real advantage is if a hunting group has more than one of these droids around. Their Autoheals stack, if they stay within 30 m. Which means the droid group gets tougher and tougher. 3 can engage enraged Rancors and win. 10 engaged 2 Kimogilas and won.

---------

If you need a faster alternative : Advanced Probot, 3177 HAM, Autoheal 98, Combat Rating 1 (Probots have automatic CR 1). Less HAM, but can keep up with a vehicle.

----------

For the solo user : LE Repair, Autoheal 39, HAM 5988, combat rating 8,

Have fun

No kidding, I woulda loved to see 10 R-3's buzzing round a Kimo!!!

The R-3 auto-repairs are great though, tough lil buggers.

It depends entierly on what you want to use it for. Many people enjoy the R3 because it can be used in ranged and melee modes, while others prefer the LE Repair for it's huge HAM (6K), and yet more people still like the Probot because it has the highest damage (although the gap between the R3 and Probot narrowed between Publish 7 and 8).

If you are in a group or are a player tank (brawler/TKA/etc) the Probot is likely the best choice - if it's kept from being pummeled (i.e. you keep it at range while the mob aggros you) it can add quite a nice bit of extra firepower. If you are looking for a "tank", then a LE would do it for you. It really is situational.

600 rating is max, right?

600 is the max on an R3, 550 is the max on Probots, and 330 is the max on LE's. However, these do not scale the same. A 550 in a Probot and a 550 in an R3 will give you very different results. Consult the stickie thread in this forum that details the individual CR to stats conversion. (This is something that really needs to be addressed in development - the combat rating system as-is remains very confusing to just about everyone - the actual combat stats need to show on the deed).

4455 is highest ham I have seen so far. How high can they go?

Cap on Probots is 3200, R3's is 4500, and LE Repairs are 6000. You likely won't find them that hit those caps, but that come very close; my Probots are like 3186, my R3's are at 4477, and off the top of my head i'm not sure what my LE's are, but it's above 5950. This is using 980/990 OQ chem.

What's the max damage anyone has seen/made?

The max damage of an R3 is 170dmg/1.52sp (which is very easy to accomplish - too easy, in fact - since you only need to get combat modules up to CR100 to max out a R3, since even though you can technically put 660 worth of CR into one, the droid doesn't recognize anything above 600), and I believe the Probots are around 190dmg/76spd.

Thanks

The simple answer is a maxxed out R3 with 5 autorepairs of very good quality, and the worst combat module you can make. Then hitch up with at least one other player with the same config droid, and away you go.

Batteries not included..so take LOTS

I could really use some advice/info on creating the best combat droid. I'm a melee guy, so all the droid is for is a ranged attack while I tank.

I'm thinking Probot w/ combat, auto-repair, armor modules.

How many modules of which types each would you use for the best support droid?

Thanks =)

If your tanking then a Probot with 5 Combat modules and Level-6 armor is what you need.

Actually, I'd skip the auto repair. If you're tanking, chances are nothing's going to agro it.

Adv Probot, 5 combat, 2 Lv 4 armor. Combat Rating should be between 500 and 550.

Buy some droid repair kits while you're at it, if you're worried about it getting damaged.

5 Modules

2 Armor Modules

Armor Modules and standard modules don't mix.
