The only way this could work is if the BLL has replacable arms in the shapes of big ass guns!

But we wont probably be so lucky.

The HAM just isnt there to have the other droids be combat ready, nor would I want them to be.

OMG. Look at u all. Now wonder we dont ever get listened to.

R2/3PO's with laser beams etc is the DUMBEST idea ever. EVeryone who agrees that combat modules should be added to all droids should go play another game, because believe it or not, we are playing STAR WARS. I wrote it in BIG letters so it may sink into your simple little minds a bit easier.

New combat droids (such as assasin droids, battle droids, droid dekas etc) is the way to go. If you cannot agree with that and want to see MSE's and power droids with blasters attached to there *edit* chassis seriously should go play another game. Pfft. Please people catch a wake up. STAR WARS <<< repeat again for those with impairments.

I know everyone has there own opinions but really, we are playing >STAR WARS< GALAXIES: AN EMPIRE DEVIDED. If everyone had there opinions heard that had ideas like assault class R2's, think of the many STUPID ideas we would have in the game?

For the final time i remind you all, we are playing >STAR WARS<

Heh.. this will get me flamed and one starred, but who cares. Played Knights of the Old Republic yet? That's Star Wars, officially licensed by Lucas, and guess what? One of the characters is an Astromech. It's not an R series, older model, but none-the-less it's the same category. And it can not only fire a blaster, but it can do it Florentine style. And that's STAR WARS (in caps and bold so that it can sink into your arrogant little one track mind easier.) C-3P0 didn't fight not because he couldn't, but because he had a prime directive running in him that prevented him from knowingly or willfully harming anything else. I'm not in support of the MSE Bombs (though the thought of beep-beep-boop-BOOM! is semi-amusing) but there's nothing wrong with being able to wire in a hold-out blaster (CDEF) into an R2. Heck, Boba Fett had a miniature flame thrower on his gauntlet, so the technology is already there IN THE MOVIES for such a small weapon, it's not a difficult leap at all to picture an R# unit with one of those mounted inside it somewhere. R2 also used a pneumatic device to launch Luke's Lightsaber out to him on Jabba's barge. Again, a pretty easy little hop to see an Thermal Detonator or CryoBan grenade coming out of that same whole and being launched several meters away. And this is just examples on the R-Units. Do I *want* to see Protocol droids running around with Carbines and blasting things? No, not really. But if that's what we get while they fix the junk that's broken. (Seekers are still infinite use) and then new chassis choices the next publish, that's what we get, and I'll be happy with that if it means I have something that can help keep red dots away when I'm doing harvestor runs that doesn't drop down at the first hit from a stinking gnort. MAYBE, as someone else suggested, DZ70's will actually become semi-useful and can survive something stronger than a corellian butterfly drone baby, and MAYBE Probots will get an actual boost, though I doubt it because we can't step on CH's toes now can we? But those two ALREADY ARE "Combat Droids", so maybe they'll be improved. You might be surprised, they may modify some of the schematics with a "weapon module" slot in place of one of the general modules, and the weapons may not be available to EVERY chassis. But there are already examples in the Extended Universe (Which is recognized for the most part as canon) of droids that aren't "Combat" Droids having weapons added to them.

Try losing the arrogance and pretentiousness, and maybe you'll figure out the real reason we don't get listened to.

I think that part of the reason that people don't want to see a "bandaid" fix of adding combat modules, aside from the fact that it doesn't seem that star wars-ie to most, is the fact that once that is in, that is the only droid improvements we will see for a long time.

Lets say that they do give 3P0's blasters, etc. They will then move on to other things, and it will be a year before DE is seriously revisted.

Kryarran, another thing I would add to your points - why would anyone want a R2/3P0 with a carbine to do combat with? Sure you can put armour in, but with only 275 HAM or so, they're not going to last very long at all. A serious combat-oriented character would but a Real Combat Droid(TM) to do heavy hitting etc. Therefore, combat modules wouldn't ruin the game because not many people are seriously going buy one in one of these non-combat chassis. It would be for fun most of the time, and for people like medics and docs that need a small amount of self-protection when needed.

I don't think it's a case of the devs listening. We as a community speculate on what they might be up to without knowing, then start to treat certain popular speculations as fact, then become outraged because our speculations-as-fact aren't what we wanted.

The other thing we do is send mixed messages. On the combat droid issues, we have been unable as a community to send a coherent message to the developers as to what we want. Some people want certs and saleability. Some are willing to sacrifice that for being able to use their own product. Some people don't mind the idea of R series and Protocol droids with combat abilities. Some do. There's an utter lack of any consensus on these issues, and what has to end up happening in that case is that decisions will be made for us. Some people will be unhappy, but since everyone can't have it the way they want it in something as big as SWG, that's a 100% predictable outcome.

They did say in the patch notes for the vehicles patch that they added combat animations for Protocol droids. This can mean several things though. It could mean that they're handing a gun to a 3PO. It could also mean they're giving us a new combat droid that's merely based on the Protocol droid's model, but with a different skin (and you can change the appearence of a model a whole lot by changing the skin. For an example, just look at how customizable your character is). It could mean something entirely different we haven't even cooked up here.

The thing is that speculation is great, but we've got to stop getting worked up about our conjectures and treating them like concrete truths whose appearance is inevitable. We just don't know until we know, and we need to accept that.
