Thread: Pub 7 no mention of fixing the 'everlasting seeker droid ' bug?

What if asomebody bought a 10 charge seeker, lost count and used it 11 times? You want to ban a guy for that? Bottom line is yes, it's a bug. But calling it an exploit is a little over the top, especially when it is harder to "play nice" (having to keep track of every charge used and manually deleting the seeker) than it is to play normally, and not have the seekers used up.
Using it 11 times an acident. Using it 100 times is an exploit.
Your anger is directed at the wrong people here. The BH's didn't cause this problem. In fact most BH's would probably side with DE's as we are needed for them to do their job. Don't alienate one of our few repeat customers.
The point is that they aren't repeat customers. They are one time customers. Buy one crate, don't need to come back. If you want to see repeat customers, wait 'till they fix this bug.

They are repeat customers. This bug doesn't happen until Investigation 3. The need to buy them at least to get to that point, and after that they still need to buy the Arakyd Probes. Again, your anger is directed at the wrong people here. The BH's have been asking for their droids to be fixed. Don't condemn the whole profession because of the few idiots that are fully exploiting this bug.

You can't ban BH's for this issue. The bug is tied to the 'droid tracking' feature that a BH recieves at investigation 3. The only way to force the droidcharges to drain is to the use the regular search option. And believe you me, by the time a BH reaches investigation 3, they have every right to use their tracking option.![]()
Do I mind having unlimited seekers? No...
Do I think it should be fixed? Of course! ![]()
But again, there's no reason tosay that BH's are exploiting the game from using their droid track feature. There's no way to avoid it other than to resort to using the regular search option, which is inferior to droid tracking.
OK,
We reported this bug a loooong time ago and your correspondants have mentioned it as well.
We have to use the feature that allows them not to be depleted (find and track) as that is the most efficient way to hunt bounties.
Cost is not an issue as 100-200cr per use is not going to hurt anyone and BHs will gladly pay.
Now, the big problem is finding a DE. I have yet to see a vendor on my server that has stocked Arakydn and Seeker droids, and if I did not have schematics and resources for the two types I would have had big problems.
As a matter of fact I'd rather buy them rather then mess with factory runs. I am a killer not a crafter

LOL... Ban me over using a function of the droids I earned?.... Let me educate the unenlightened.
Well asan old school BH once I hit investigation3 I had 18,000 exp left... At 139 per mission I had to do 129 missions to complete the investigation tree. That was another 129 hours at least.
I couldn't help noticing that find and track didn't use any seeker charges. I reported it , They shrugged and life went on.
Find and track updates my marks position every 30 seconds at investigation 3, up to 4 times. Using the find option uses up a charge but took 3 to4 minutes per report per seeker.
Once you send out a seeker you have to wait tillit finds your target and stops reporting back to you before you can send out a new one... Exception is if you send multiple ones out at once. That can crash you though.
BH was an extremely hard and buggy profession for me to master. Without the find and track option a lot more time would of been added to my missions. Hey I had no vehicles , mounts nor player cites.
So, then we made MBH and found because of reversed seeker speeds, a beta bug that only now is getting fixed, Seeker times went from 3 minutes to 6 - 8 minutes using find and track.
Well I found that I could find my mark before my seekers could after vehicles were introduced into the game.
Pure Dumb Luck!
I then began to use the find option at master and found I could shave off a minute or two from the first report time. So, I would send out two seekers are once, Something you can do if your real quick. One using find and one using find and track. The find option used a seeker charge and my find and track would report later but give me 12 updates about 2 mintues apart.
Now since I use the find option at least once I am using up my seekers that way.
You could say I'm doing it because I found a use for find but also by using find I have to buy more seekers too. Back at level 2 investigation I was so good at finding my mark that I rarely needed more then 2.
So, there you are. I hope you realise we are not using find and track to keep from buying more seekers.
Another bug that you should be aware of though. Arkyds I find sometimes, maybe most of the time are 6 charges and not 5. IT goes 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 then you get a blank one which we can call zero which will be the last one. I don't know if that's ever been reported or not but my last batch I bought not to long ago is doing this now.
I submitted this bug a long time ago to and I've been a MBH for 5 months so you can see now how long these bugs as many bugs in this game have not yet been fixed.

We all need each other and there's no reason to harbor ill feeling towards each other because of bugs SOE hasn't fixed.
Absolutely agreed..we do need each other. /bow
And, to Tanks above, the reason there is a shortage of supply is twofold:
1..they are a Royal pain to make and consume electronic subcomponents that most DE's would rather use in R2 and better (cash per unit) droids
2.. given the above, and the fact that they eat our factory time..the reality is that BH will not generally pay what a DE thinks it is worth to craft them. It's not about the resource cost only, or the factory time, it's about the more valuable things we could otherwise be making. I understand a BH wants to minimize cost, but on my server it has got out of hand, and only novice DE's make them (as a rule)..so a little understanding of that might help the supply situation. I'm only trying to help here. Repeat, it is not the resource cost that matters to us, but what we could otherwise be making that is more profitable by far..
I hope this helps a little

Shian nails it dead center. I could bemaking more money by making other droids. I could be using my factories more efficiently by not making so @!#%&*(! many electronics components to put in the Seekers and Arakyds. But I do it anyway. So try to understand how much of a sore point this is for us - we are essentially doing you guys a favor by making the damn things anyway.
I'm going to call you out on this comment. Remember back in September how Bounty Hunters could get their droids from terminals for 200cr each? ...and the dev's removed that because it was economically unbalancing to us and we said it was unfair that they get their droids from terminals when we can make the same thing. Now you're saying it isn't worth our time? Bullcrap. It's some of the only repeat business we get! I'm sorry if the sales of these things doesn't seem worth it to you, but do keep in mind that investigation rewards have gone up from when they started out and as Tanks pointed out, money isn't really a issue for most of the seasoned Bounty Hunters.
Yea, I sell them for 5k/crate of Seekers and 10k/crate of Arakyds...the hardest part of the investigation tree should be tracking the marks, not tracking down a droid engineer.

It would be worth our time if we could sell Seekers for 10k per crate and Arakyds for 25k per crate, which is what the old Bounty Hunter terminal prices equate to. But we can't. I just raised my prices to 5k for a crate of Seekers and 7k for a crate of Arakyds and I'm getting flak for it. My vendor is always stocked andis incredibly convenient (550 meters SW of Kaadara, one of the main BH hubs), and yet I sell maybe3-5 crates of each per day on average.
So no, it's really not worth our time.
Easy on the calling people exploiters stuff. WHat are they supposed to do? Kepe track of how many seekeres they used and voluntarily delete one. I think BH droid supply is a MAJOR issue. Hell, my own alt was a BH before I went pistoleer and I didn't even make them for myself!
When they fix the seeker bug, they should drop the Master Artisan requirements. Not enough money in it for me to make them for the hassel they cause.
