Thread: The problem with building 'the best' droid repair kits, and why nobody will

I build 18/1124 Repair Kit B's and sell em for 2.5k, just finished mymanufacturing run, so haveyet to find out how well they sell though.
Joke is Ibuild a crap load ofReconstruction Kits as well, but just to find out that only DEs can useem..grrr
You're not the only one who made a bunch of those... heck, I gave one away with each probot I sold until I heard non-DEs couldn't use them...
I make Repair Ds thatrepair 1600 and have 25 charges, I sell them for 40 credits a charge, and do a brisk business in them.
I agree with the original poster, I already have enough other special resources I have to keep my eye open for, the new ones added with the 3 new sub parts as well as the repair D kit itself are rediculous. Some of them I have never even heard of or seen before. So I will stick to regular Repair-Ds at 1600 repair a charge.
I make DRK-Bs with 22 charges and 1350 energy that I sell for 1000 each or 10k for a crate of 10.
I make DRK-Cs with 24 charges and 1550 energy that I sell for 1500 each or 15k for a crate of 10.
Or rather, that's what they're sitting on my vendor for. No one is buying them. I don't have very many in stock, though, because I don't see any point in stocking something that no one wants to buy.
If I could ever find some Ionite Intrusive Ore the energy rating on my DRKs would go up... I can't make Advanced Unit Delivery devices right now because that stuff is so hard to find. I can't make DRK-Ds right now, either, because we haven't seen Vendusii Crystal Armorphous Gemstone in a long time and apparently no one harvested the last batch of it anyway.
Part of me thinks the average populace (that doesn't even read the forums) may not even yet be aware of the situation. I get a lot of people thinking some really old things about what droids are and what they can do.
If you haven't been educating your clientbase (and everyone in your entire friends list), then you've been doing them and yourself a disservice.
I've been selling lots lately...even with my time needed to do Corr. stuff.

I can't tell if the low sales of the repair kits is because people don't know about them. But in truth, even I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with the repair kits. When fighting solo, in the time it takes me to heal the droid, I could have done more damage to the opponent than the droid will do before it requires healing again. And I am only just a little bit higher than Novice Rifleman. The only time I'm able to use the droid effectively in battle is when I or somebody other than the droid draws the NPC's aggro and the droid doesn't take damage. Then if I go incap, the droid will hopefully distract the NPC long enough for the NPC to forget about me or for me to recover. The droid has saved my butt a few times that way, but it doesn't really need the repair kit very often at all because if it takes significant damage, it dies too fast to make healing it worthwhile. So what I am saying is that one repair kit, even a weak one, lasts a long time.
I've seen the same problem. If droids had even light armor *cough* it would be much more worthwhile to use repair kits in battle.
I opened Notepad on my desktop and wrote a FAQ for my customers. I used the \#xxxxxx color codes to lay it out. When I get my first inquiry of the day about a Droid I cut it and paste it to an email and send the customer the FAQ.
I include information about: battery usage, armor changes, repair kits, reconstruction kits, Vitality kits, basic cost of various models, and combat.
It seems to work well, and I dont get stuck in tell-hell for 20 minutes explaining every detail.
