Thread: The problem with building 'the best' droid repair kits, and why nobody will
Plus, some of the particular resources have absolutely horrible required stats. Using the second best Malab Sil. Ore and Platinite Copper that's ever appeared on my server, I couldn't make an Advanced Diagnostic Circuit beat the non-advanced version I made with only half-decent stuff I had about.
Has anyone else found the 'advanced' versions worthwhile at all? I do make Kit C's, but D are an utter waste so far.

A maxed out Repair Kit D, with all advanced components I'd have to sell for 5k each to make reasonable profit over what I could sell the base resources for.
I've paid that much for a petstim D on Kettemoor because of the fish requirement. Let me assure you, they are worth every credit when I am up to my hairline in a heated fight and need that pet healed right f**king now, no excuses. Droids are the same way, when I need that thing repaired, I mean I need it oper-freakin'-rational when I push the hotkey and ready to last the 15 seconds it takes to recycle the repair timer. If you make them, let me tell you, you will sell them.People who use pets who know what they are doing know full well the benefits of preparedness. People pay the premium for the best edge, kit D's will sell, even if you don't make all that many of them. If you have to stick with standard comps until the materials pop to make the advanced stuff what it should be, then by all means, use standard comps. If its a headache you can spare yourself not needing to jump through the hoops of gated materials, why sweat it? Get the materials when they pop and do the best you can with what you have.
Its like on Kettemoor, it was six months between decent spawns of Lokian wild wheat, do you think that made advanced medical comps any less important? Not! We just had to deal with the effects on meds and buffs till this last pop gave us an 800+ oq 600+ pe supply of it. In cases where standard comps were of better quality, they used those instead.
Its not the end of the world to be stuck with less than the best materials to work with, just a challenge and a waiting game. The world goes on between good pops.
There's a reason I haven't made repair-kit D's or any advanced components:
They're not selling. The only time I've sold my Bs (18 charges, 1147 energy) was when someone bought one when they bought a probot off my vendor. When I've sold probots in person, I usually threw in 3 or 5 Bs or even a few of my 22 charge 1394 C's.
None of my customers has even come back for more repair kits. I sell those Cs for 4k and the Bs for either 2.5k or 3k, not sure, to match what another master DE in my city charges.
Are they not selling, or are the kits just lasting a while? I've put my droid through intensive workouts in the last week and I haven't used up the first kit I bought yet. (34 use, 1492 strength kit D)

4k for C's and 2.5k per for B's? A C without advanced components I can see going for 1-2k depending on the quality. Now I'm wondering what other people charge.
I'm not selling something that takes four factory runs (well, I have three factories, so it's technically only two...) and Datooine fiberplast for 1-2k. ![]()
Like I said, I try to match the other DE in my town. I almost feel guilty because my Cs are a little bit better than his...

I use up 1-2 kits/day... they are eaten thru quickly cause of the low armor. But then I'm out hunting rancors and other high-level mobs...

I did a factory run of B's using half of my non-advanced sub-components and put them up on the vendor. I've sold maybe 4 of them in the past week. Then I got some Dantoine Fiberplast and did a factory run of C's using the other half of the same sub-components. I'll put those up on the vendor tonight. I used the same sub-components for both just because I want that much to be similar between the two so I can see what the differences in the schematics themselves are independent of the types of sub-components used. I won't know what stats the C's have until the factory is done with them, cause the examine window doesn't tell me during the crafting steps.
/shrug
Is Dantoine fiberplast really that expensive? I'd never heard of it before now and happenned to find a nice quality spot on Dantoine not far from the Warren. I've mined nearly 100k of it already.... If the C's don't work out, maybe I'll sell it.
HI,
I sell the kits 1000 c per use...
if the kit has 20 uses it's 20k.
haven't sold any yet though but I just stocked my vendor with them last night....
droids can not be undercut.... we must charge reasonable prices but fair to us as DE is a long road with not many frills....
the only thing we can achieve really is to try to get rich.......(what else is there)
