Thread: The REAL DROID FIX (Devs please consider)

Perhaps you're just saying, "well that shouldn't be the structure." There's your moot point right there. That's the structure, that's the mold, that's what we've got to work with. Deal with it.
First off, please lose the hostility. It's not contructive. Thank you. I will try to maintain a constructive demeanor also and not let any of my responses become the so called "troll" responses.
So, on with the discussion....
And this is what you want? Why? Seriously. Why take away the inherant advantages of the combat classes by basically replacing them with droids? There are plenty of other ways to get droids in to the game without making them the be-all end-all of day-to-day combat,
Adding elite combat droids for eveyrone to usewill not be the "end all of day-to-day combat".
First off, a newb still wont be able to afford or get his hands on an elite droid. And if he does, then he's got a good sugar momma/daddy somewhere looking out for him. But still, this just makes the gamemore fun. Now he/she can be a little more daring and go out and try bigger mobs. They still have to master the player UI and pet commands to make good use of a pet. That's a skill in itself and I tell you I see plenty of people who don't even use elite pets as CHs very well.
The black and white issue of "leaving all mobs as they are" or "raising all mobs"is totally a mute point. Again, a newb can not afford an elite droid nor afford the upkeep on one. So leaving the mobs as they are would be fine. Hell, try taking a CL 50droid with you and your elite skills and equipment to the Genosian Lab. You'll still get creamed. So some mobs are tough enoughas is.
But yes, high level folks with elite droids, buffs and equipment will plow through most stuff. I hate to tell you, but we already plow through most things without these droids. Unless we get mobbed that is.
Open your eyes for just one moment. I know change is a frightening thing for most. That's a statistical reality. But give change a try. Introduce ANY level droids to ANY profession player and see what happens. The devs can always increase creature toughness on a sliding curve so that a low level creature doesnt get much tougher, but a high level creature gets much tougher and everything in between gets tougher based on this curve. Hell.... we need this change now. Elite combat professions and Jedi Initiates already plow through eveyrthing in the game.
Change is good. Give it a try. See if you like it. Think HALF FULL not HALF EMPTY. We'll never get off the ground otherwise.

I was also thinking the same thing as you when I first started looking and reading the threads in this forum. I still do in many ways actually. One thing that stops me from wanting UBER droidsit at the moment is the CH profession. If you implement UBER droids noone will become CH anymore since you can use all those skillpoints needed to master CH for something else.
It takes 106 skillpoints to master CH, these points are so valuable that I would never ever spend them on CH if I can get the droids to do the same job for cash. Cash I can make more of quite easy by running missions or selling resources. Skillpoints you only have 250, thats it. And that is the big thing the devs have said as I understand it, you cant get something like UBER droids forfree without spending skillpoints.
The things we could do with the droids are endless, no arguing there. And I would really really like for everyone to have a droid as I like many others think Star Wars is all about Jedis, droids and laser guns. I do however think combat droids needs to be restricted and that utility droids should be for everyone.
Sorry if I haven't brought anything new to the discussion, just thought I'd give my point of view on droids.
