Thread: Vehicles costs going up?
Ten times the resources? Ten times the price.
They will now be 100k to 150k instead of 10k - 15k
I don't like this move by the devs at all though. I think everyone should have 3 vehicles. It will add more to the Star Wars feel.
By doing this they are essentially gating the production. Not a lot of folks have 1 million steel sitting around to toss into a factory to make 100 vehicles.
I think if your really think about it 100k of steel will make you about 8 bikes. I think your gonna see more along the lines of 250k for a while how many can you make ?? to make 80 it takes a million steel alone.
So you want to make say 4 to 5 friends vehicles then sell some ? Then i think you better have TONS of resources. I dont see prices going below 200k for a while
Heres another outlook, Why wouldnt they be worth 300k the first day???? Mounts were and what did they cost a ch ???
Second there are factors that go into the production of these. IE deteriation. Obviously people can sell do what ever they want, but personally ill be selling for as much as i can get FOR ONCE.
And yu want one made with 900 resources you better have a VERY deep pocket
I'm considering building them for free if people bring me the resources just to protest this move by SOE.
Putting a vehicle in every players hands would have gone a long way towards Star Wars feeling. Now it's just going to be an uber player luxury for the first few weeks. That sucks.
I still plan to charge roughly 5 CPU plus some overhead for vehicles. That'll probably work out to 65-70k for bikes and 85-90k for speeders.
The only difference with this change is that now I won't be able to build several hundred vehicles on opening day. Probably more like 40-50.
Have alot of left over steel from grinding up to MDE. Guess I have something to do with 100K of steel.
Bring it.

You have 650k of good resource sitting around?

Yup. More, actually, but around 650k that I'm willing to use to make vehicles on the first day.
My "problem", such as it is, is that most of the resources I'm sitting on are actually very high quality. It's almost a shame to be using them to make vehicles on the first day. I'm probably going to shift all of my harvesters over to something quick-and-dirty once Durokoudeic vanishes and hope that I can get enough of it that I don't have to use my good stuff right away.
I want to supply vehicles on the first day so that as many people as possible can get them. Once the market has settled down, however, I want to be able supply high-quality vehicles at a premium.
I think that i am just going to wait the first week or so out. If we overcharge we will be no better than the Creature Handlers were during the first few days of the mount fiasco. Those who overcharged for the mounts have now lost some serious future customers, and have been subject to some serious beatings on the board. Now they are getting nerfed to hell and back and the community is not supporting them, mainly i believe because of the insta-millionaire mount debacle. The last thing Droid Engineers need is to alienate the forum community.....If we do that it may be hard to gain support for improvements to our profession down the road.
Also, who know what will happen after a week or two? Will we have pre and post nerf vehicles? I think we all know that the vehicles will be buggy, explode randomly, vanish from the datapad and possibly a dozen other things that can go wrong. And when they hotfix the vehicles in two weeks time who is to say that the older vehicles will not be worthless? I have visions of angry mobs beating down Master Artisan's doors demanding their money back or a free replacement vehicle This was easy for CH's because when the mount grew too big, vanished, or was not what the customer expected, the replacement mount cost no more than 30 minutes of the CH's playing time. With us it's gonna cost a whole bunch more than that to replace these things.
So I may miss out on the firstweek bonanza, but I hope that when the vehicles are sorted out I will be in the position of still having a large stock of metals at hand, have no pissed off customer base, and be able to offer customers a decent product for a reasonable price.
^^^^^^ Meh im going to grossly overcharge for any vehicle i make. 500k+ muwhahaha.
Since I do not sell my droids I don't care about any future or repeat customers, and if they get bugged, well this game is buggy. Buyer beware!
Hopefully I can just sell a few at a grossly overcharged price and then not have to worry about money for a long time.

Nah, just buy a couple million credits on Ebay for $10 - $20. It's easier. ![]()
Non sequitor: I've noticed something amusing about pricing of items in the game. It's perfectly okay for Weaponsmiths to charge 200k for an item that only uses 100 resources to make, but if an Architect charges 200k for an extractor that doesn't decay, can be used forever, and which uses 30,000 resources to make he's gouging.
We're starting to see the same reactions regarding vehicles. Charging 100k for a Landspeeder that uses 17,000 resources is only 6 CPU. Yeah, 100k sounds like a lot of money, but it might COST the vehicle maker 85k just to BUY those resources!
