Thread: Look what is in store for us in Publish 8... emote: cry
the sad thing is you know that the imade designers are going to get WAY cooler and desired stuff than we are.

The items they added were just major line items.
Jenden is right...there's always reason to hope.
I'll do what I can to make sure I can get you all as much detailed info on what's coming as possible.
When I know (and am given the green light), then you'll know.

Respectfully,
Thanks for the input TK, I am definately interested in seeing what other stuff they've got comming. Sometimes its not the major items that are the most appealing to me...

If only I could...
I don't want to speak out of turn here. What I want to avoid is saying that some addition or such "will" happen when it is really only in-development and might not actually occur. This is the "2 CL10 pet calling" situation...
I don't want to say that something will or will not happen unless it is absolute and irrevocably set in stone.

I made some meaningful suggestion (based on what they requested of me), which I took in large part from the DE boards directly.
Remember, just cause they don't say "We got idea X" or "We hear idea Y" doesn't mean that its not seen, considered or even in-development.
As stated...I'll let you know what I can, when I can.

That and the Infamous Dev Quotes Academy Awards.
What I want to know is if the droids they mentioned in the HOC chat will be DE craftable or NPC encounter droids. They did say that they are working on some new droid chassis, but they didnt say that they were for the DE profession to build.
Personally I believe SOE think the DE profession is now finished for this time around and they will focus their attention elsewhere. They told us that we could have strong combat droids if we accepted the DH/DC profession along with it. We gave them plenty of other sollutions that they didnt want. They probably felt that it would be to hard to do as we the DE and the SWG community wanted and said "You didnt go along with our idea so we scrap it"
I dont know. I find myself spending less and less time online these days. Only check on vendors basically and do some factory runs on the items my other master professions can sell. As for droids? Dont sell enough to support anything. House, harvs, factories.
If this keeps up I will drop DE and spend the skillpoint on something else.

TK - with all due respect, you completely sidestepped my concern.
What I was saying is:
The amount of creativity and input this forum can provide to SOE is proportional to the amount of interactive feedback we get from SOE.
Without knowing more about what is possible, and what ideas SOE likes best, we're just flailing in the dark. Still. Like last month. And last year.
As I said initially, it's wonderful and peachy that some of this is filtering up to the development team. BFD. On behalf of at least SOME of the DE community, please tell them:
"Thank you very kindly for the bucket of warm spit."
It amazes me how quickly you became the Developer 'Yes-man', TK. The situation now is the same one you used to **edit** up a storm about.
I'm negative because the development team won't post because I'm negative because the development team won't post because I'm negative because......

"Publish 8 (Droids Rebuilt)"
Now, take a look at the details...the focus on droids compose of 3 items. There are 11 items in total. That is 27% !!
27% of a publish directed to a certain profession, in my mind, does not glorify naming the publish after that profession! What a let down. What were these people thinking? Just because they put our profession in lights and name a publish or 2 after us we will be satisfied? Please...give me a break.
Did you see the Droid invasion publish ?

I'm sorry...I really didn't mean to...
What I was saying is:

I understand what you're saying...you know I do. It's the "If we get morefeedback on ourideas, we can make themeven better" thing. That's cool. That, however, really needs to bewhat the Corrs. do, notthe Devs themselves. There's simply WAY too many ideas and posts to deal with, in that regard.
Without knowing more about what is possible, and what ideas SOE likes best, we're just flailing in the dark. Still. Like last month. And last year.
Yup. For that reason, I take the good stuff to the Devs and they get back with me on it. Sodan and I did this very thing inrelation to the DE Hybrid idea. TheCorrs. themselves have a thread going on this on the Corr. boards. It was pointed out that we needed to take ranged vs. melee balance into play whenassigning skill point use/cost. So...a thread got made to try and address it.
It's not always the actual Devs that even need to be in on 'tweaking' an idea. Guidance is helpful and needed...it's just going to come as much from an actual red-name (as much as we'd all like it to).
What IS feasible to have me be the conduit for such things....it really does make things faster (since the Dev only has to worry about watching and replying to my onethreads, instead of thousands).
As I said initially, it's wonderful and peachy that some of this is filtering up to the development team. BFD. On behalf of at least SOME of the DE community, please tell them:

Uhhh...no,I don't think that will help (nice try, though).
It amazes me how quickly you became the Developer 'Yes-man', TK. The situation now is the same one you used to **edit** up a storm about.
Well...I was wrong about my perspective, man. I'm not above stating when I'm wrong on something. Berating them over how they try to address the many many thousands of posts, ideas and such here doesn't help.
And...I don't consider myself a "Yes-man", though I can understand how you see it that way. What I do now have is much better perspective on reality.
Should we have them answer every idea on our boards with "guidance"?
Is that what you'd like?
Or...
Is it better to have me stay on top of such major items and get info from them to pass back to you?
Remember...we're one of likle 34 total niches for them. Should the Devs themselves give feedback and guidance on EVERY one of those profession forums (and the GCW / Core issues forums), etc?
Come on, man.....it would take months just to do ONE publish if we did that.
I'm negative because the development team won't post because I'm negative because the development team won't post because I'm negative because......
Seriously, man...
From the perspective I have now, I don't want them posting here (much). I want them to keep their noses to the bug-killing, content-building, balancing grindstone.
If they spent time here with every good idea and suggestion, to guide it along and such, it would take FOREVER to get anything done.
Is that what you want?
Respectfully,
No, I don't want the development team to spend all their time on the forums answering questions. I didn't ask for that, either.
What I do want is to get some idea of what sort of things they are fishing for ideas on - if any. Some boundaries to work around. A dust speck to accrete water around, forming a raindrop or snowflake. A shred of information.
I don't want the damn Publish notes - that's useless. I would like a little direction. Shian asked for it, I'm asking, and we've been asking FOR WEEKS for this. In the absence of information, I can assume that SOE was not serious about wanting and valuing the feedback of the gaming community.
You are caught up and hypnotized by your new perspective, TK - it strikes me that you have lost your understanding of OUR perspective down in the trenches. We've not been told a damn thing about Publish 8 and there has never been a general community discussion about the role of droids in SWG. And now we can blame you along with SOE apparently.
One thing has definitely turned out true so far. To paraphrase, "Utility...isn't going to happen."
We don't have your access to the Correspondant forum - we're down here in the dark with the BS.
