Thread: What are your thoughts on TH's Invasion announcement?

Here is something else I am afraid of.
If they go with a full four tree skill tree, I am betting that things that should be in DE will go into the new DH profession. Example: droid repair.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
DE: We want to have more than one NON-COMBAT Droid out at a time.
DEV: No, that's in the DH Skilltree, we can't give you that.
DE: Then at least let us have more than 5 Droids in our Datapad so we can show people what they're buying
DEV: That's also in the DH skilltree.
DE: *Complains*
DEV: Tell us what you want
Repeat Ad Nausium
Thunderheart should take this as a warning

I'm afraid of that too.
Like someone said a few days ago, theres not enough skills to fill an entire profession. When the DH profession gets a community and takes on a life of its own we'll definatly be at war with them over who gets what new features.

Well, I'm usually one to give the whole "chin up" routine, but this time....
In putting together pieces from various posts about our issues and other development issues, here's what I'm seeing:
Since the devolpment cycle takes so long, these plans have been in the works for quite some time. By now, the development team has invested a great deal of time and effort into the changes/additions that are listed in the ID thread. I find it highly unlikely that anything is going to change based on our comments. I think that is why it has taken so long to get the information. Even if they had posted it in early January, it is so far along in process thatit isn't going to be stopped. If you lookat Thunderheart's initial revelation that they were going to have a Droid and you look at what is posted in the ID thread, there is no difference, regardless of the huge amounts of feedback that were given. Perhaps if this type of information had been given earlier in the process, the community input may have been taken into account, but at this stage of the game, we appear to be pretty much stuck with it as it has been presented.
Am I disappointed? Absolutely. I'm disappointed with both the upcoming changes, because I would rather see more focus on utility over combat; and I'm disappointed with the bug fixes that have been reported in TC.
I agree. Asking for input on droids is just spin.

Here's what I posted in the thread:
=====
So basically this all breaks down to:
The Devs determined what they were going to dowithout an OUNCE of profession OR entire playerbase input, and developed a severe case of selective hearing.
- R2 does not have a GUN! (an arc welder, sure)
- MSEs are not BOMBs.
- Non Combat professions want USEFUL droids, not combat droids.
- Combat professions would even prefer a droid that assists indirectly in combat, instead.
