I personally don't know what to think. I just feel defeated.

I think, having read every single post, that he is getting the surprise of his life with that thread.

Almost universal rejection must be hard to take (so I expect he and the team will just ignore it)

Serves him right for not listening, not thinking and not (apparently) even trying to understand or communicate.

Defeated? not yet.

I think that I will go Chef - it is still an improvement over being DE.

I thinked that the DE comunity had mixed feelings about this issue. Half community wanted the idea and half comunity don't wanted it. I never saw the crafting-only profession as the clear majority, the opnions were almost evenly shifted.

Well, there's nothing we can make now. We are a crafter profession forever now. We will craft to Droid Masters and the Droid Masters will be the only profession to buy from us. Thunderheart too show clearly that the "Droid Certification" never will be implemented because the balancing issues that it can generate make this feature impossible to be implemented:

"The second approach is to find some “skill stack” in all the professions and add a droid mastery tree to that as-of-yet-unnamed skill stack. The pitfall problem with this approach is that it is impossible to tell if some unforeseen combination of skills and/or professions is going to create an over-powered combo that will have to inevitably be nerfed in power. Any form of “droid certification” would be included in this category. The fact that there are so many professions and combinations simply makes it too tangled to depend on this approach. Additionally, this would greatly increase the amount of damage players are able to do at any time, causing huge balance issues."

IMHO, maybe (note: MAYBE, it is possible, I can be wrong, but we can ever have a hope) the Droid Master profession be a popular one as the Creature Handlers are and we have enough buyers to ours combat droids.

With relation to level 10 droids, I have somequestions:

Can I use a combat module at a BLL droid? The BLL droid with a combat module will run to save its droid life or it will go to combat a creature (that chicken behavior don't will help if it have a combat module and make the combat module a waste of resources)? A BLL droid will be level 10 droid? I can rename BLL droids to "rebel ATST" ? I will need to use combat modules at probots?

Good question. The Combat Modules aren't on TC just yet, so I can't find out this info. BLLs are Level 12 without the Combat modules, so I wonder how they will effect the BLL and if they will be usuable as a combat droid between Publish 6 and Publish 7.

I was extremely disappointed with TH and this proposal. Hence Jan. 27th is my last day and I'll have an extra $14.99 each month to do with as I please.

PersonallyI now think it's time to move on from DE, although it will take me a few weeks to use up all of my remaining components. I may come back in the future if they ever get it right, but for now I am going Holo grinding. IfI am still around as a MDE when the publish comes out I will try this new stuff out, otherwise it's been fun.

Peace!

My question about the BLL is - since it is a level 12 droid, will we be able to use it at all between Publishes 6 and 7 (and thereafter with the DM class).

I am wondering if the CL10 cutoff has any way to determine whether or not a droid is a "combat" droid.

To be a little more verbose on the matter, this is what I think.

I think the whole thing was planned.

TH makes the announcement that he knows will get all the DE's upset. We spend countless hours making posts on the DE boards - there are no longer any general boards that we could express our outrage to the entire community on. During which time we are waiting for an "uberpost".

Then, mysterously, the "uberpost" is delayed for a few days. During this time, we continue to make huge numbers of posts, constructive ideas.

Then, TH goes and makes his "uberpost" in the general in-development forum. It gets flooded with replies from non-DE's and such who don't know the full story. By this time, we are feeling worn down from the past few days, and our voices are drowned out.

If you have read some of Holo's game management theory, it is all about controlling the players. And this is being masterfully done. We are goning to get screwed, we know it, and yet the devs will make it look like there was community involvement. It is obvious that they are just going to clone the CH code over to the new DH class.

Oh, wait - it is Droid Master - what a releif.

BE/CH and DE/DH comparisons are a joke. The extra skills a BE needs to hunt and get his own DNA being held up to master artisan is not accurate. The extra BE skills also help him out when he is out hunting with his CH pet. Saying that master artisan is akin to the extra skills (e.g., mask scent) a BE needs is... well, rediculous.

So, it appers that the DE who wants to use his own droids either won't have merchant, or will get wiped off the face of the planet in a heartbeat because the mobs are smart enough to go for the pet controller.

This is one giant, stinking pile of horse**edit**.

Some more thoughts -

Here is something else I am afraid of.

If they go with a full four tree skill tree, I am betting that things that should be in DE will go into the new DH profession. Example: droid repair.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

/agree Certainly it was planned (I read Holo's masterwork too)

However...I dont think anyone expected the wider community to ALSO call the DM idea a pile of (what you said)

Now he has no community justification for the DM change...have to be the brutal and roughshod approach then won't it? Or will it?

we shall see
