Thread: Thousands of new DEs across the servers.

i think this is the sly thing that 'they' did. i drudged my way up though the mouseses to get to bp3 just like everyone else. finally i was like 'sweet, i can make a probot. everyone says that they suck, but they suck LESS than me'. so i was all set to make one and realized that they take MA parts. so i got MA.

my point is this: is a probot takes MA parts, our (hopefully-to-be-announced) combat droids will also take MA parts. being an MA and a novice DE i can say sweet. i want this to be a profession that you cannot buy/macro your way to the top of. this SHOULD be the most important thing in SWG, not CH.

i never heard anyone in any of the movies, or never read anyone in the books saying 'pikachu, i choose you!'. maybe i resent the fact that i'm riding on some kind of **edit** ostrich/duck/dinosaur hybrid and not cruising in even the CRAPPY SPEEDER THAT LUKE SOLD FOR 2000 CREDITS, but that not only did eps 1 and 2 have droids that kicked maximum @$$, they also had protocol droids that responded to stimulii and/or droids that in general DID something.

Actually, they can get both Master TKA, Master DE and Master Artisan. I should know.

I sat down and add up all the points needed before I did but...

I do believe there SHOULD be one Heavy Combat Droid (HCD), in particular, that is M. DE specific. Also, M. DE should be able to get a cert for having 2 droids at once so we could use 2 of the HCDs in combat and be able to call out the Repair droid to hael them one at a time. There can be a 2nd HCD that non-M. DEs can use.

Give MDE a special HCD and let them call 2, and you will see more DE just so they can use them.....

Bad mojo for us all dude.

I just read on the Artisan Forum that there has been a change in the crafting tools. You won't be able to start a new crafting tool until the first one finishes ONLY if you are using the "Practice" mode. Normal prototype creation is not affected. So, the "createPrototype Practice no item" won't work anymore without a LONG pause between crafting sessions.

The effect of this will be to severely limit the grinding up the skill tree. This will certainly put a damper on anyone trying to just speed climb ANY of the crafting trees, including Artisan. Though it also may limit the huge influx of players trying to become DE's or any other crafting prof.

Can anyone verify this?

Yes, this is happening at the live servers but I grinded to Master Artisan anyway. I run one crafting tool making personal harverstersusing the pratice mode, one each time. You know, vehicles are coming....

When the new droids come, I will grind to Master Droid Engineer. I want to craft the new combat droids, then all this thread apply to my situation (I am one of that dreadfull and lazy "new"DE that is coming to get all the prizes that you "old" DE worked hard to get...). I intend go to DE if the new combat droids can be selled or if they can be used only by the DEs (IMHO, the later is more problable if the new droids have level above 10).

I am not sure if the new DEs will be a good thing or a bad thing. The old DEs have the merit to support a profession that nowis totally borked (yes, it is borked and bedcause the profession is borked I tryed other professions)and the new DEs are going to the profession only because the devs promissed some "love". Then you all have reason to be irritated. But you too can think that more DEs will make the DE community greater and making easier to the devs to hear your rants.

The competiton will be grater too, but if the devs make the droids usefull to everyone (and not only the combat droids usefull...) the demand will be greater too and maybe this will compensate the higher droid supply. If the demand go high enough (this depends on dev competence to make a good droid system to the game), maybe the prices don't go low with the new DE around.

But I can afirm something to you all: the only motif I don't tryed DE before is because the profession is currently borked. I ever wanted craft droids, but when I saw how borked is a nerfed probot I quit the idea (damit, why my probots ever died as fighting? because the devs nerfed the probots...). With these borked combat droids I never saw a good future to the DE profession, then I tryed other professions. Only now I am returning to my original intention to try the DE profession...

This has already happened with Master Artisan (for vehicles) too, all over most servers.

I have always wanted to try out a crafting class, so I picked DE. One person actuallybecame convinced that I must be following a holocron, because no one would want to be a DE otherwise... that's sad.

Granted, this means you can't be master artisan, but if nothing else that just makes you're life so much easier. I don't think some people realize the value of not having to worry about making those parts, I just find a dependable master artisan, order a couple thousands MM's and GP's and lesser quantites of the micro sensor suites and control units and I'm done. Don't have to worry about my own factories, don't have to worry about the resources, don't have to worry about MA skillpoints, life is much easier.

Exactly. I never sell droid parts and never would. I make plenty without selling that stuff to keep me viable. Your big point here is 'finding a dependable master artisan'. That's almost the same as finding a reliable Master Armorsmith for composite armor segments, or a reliable Architect for power core units. It isn't that easy to do and when you need them, they aren't on. Plus, running factories for others just eats up factory time for yourself. It is too much of a pain.

you know, Gribnitz, I don't think I've ever seen such a stupid post in my life. you refuse to sell parts that are needed by others, such as your parts needed by an architect yet you expect them to sell you parts? I can't believe it, but I can understand why this game can suck as much as it does. to have to depend on people like you is completely ridiculous.. each area should be on its own. it's people like you that make this type of game unplayable. what a jerk.

angel.

There was a guy who wanted DE training from me who afterwards asked me how many holocron professions I'd done. He seemed kind of shocked when I told him I wasn't taking part in that whole mess.

Wont happen, because ultimately droids are a pain in the ass to make. Its not fun. You have to like droids and the idea of making droids to be an MDE, and im pretty sure being an MDE will mean something when they fix stuff, and everyone wants "the best" they can buy. I know my orders went up tenfold once i got my title, and my droids havent changed a bit in quality, imagine if there was an actual difference. No one is going to grind to MDE to make a quick buck, because its **edit** expensive, and chances are you'll have to give up your combat skills to get there, so there's no point in doing so to get combat droids. Furthermore, you can make a lot more money in other professions.

No the real problem is what to do when the next big MMORPG comes out and this game is running along half broken and carebeared to all hell. At least thats an easily solved problem...
